Betsy Aidem is an American actress born in East Meadow, New York. She earned a BFA from New York University and began her professional career in the early 1980s. Aidem is a seasoned stage performer, having received an Obie Award for Sustained Excellence of Performance in 2007. She is well known for her Broadway work, which includes originating the role of Lady Bird Johnson in All the Way and Grandma Emilia in Leopoldstadt. In 2024, she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance as Marcelle in Prayer for the French Republic.
In late 2025, Aidem starred as Margie in the Broadway production of Liberation, a role she originated earlier that year in the show's world premiere at Roundabout Theatre Company. For her work in the production, she was part of the ensemble honored with a Drama Desk Award and a New York Drama Critics' Circle Award. Her extensive screen career includes film roles in Irrational Man, A Vigilante, and Margaret, as well as television appearances on The Americans, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Orange Is the New Black, and The Good Fight.
