Jaime Lozano is a musical theatre writer considered by Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda as the next big thing on Broadway. A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Jaime Lozano earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music and Composition from the School of Music at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, and was the recipient of a full TSOA academic scholarship while earning his Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Writing from New York Universitys Tisch School of the Arts. In addition, Jaime is the first Mexican to be accepted and graduate from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. Jaime's works have been produced at various important theatres such as Goodspeed Opera House, Juilliard School of Music, The Triad Theatre, Theatre for the New City, Baruch Performing Arts Center, Merkin Concert Hall, St. George Theatre, Soho Playhouse, Metropolitan Room, Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre (Off Broadway), The Players, Town Hall, Minskoff Theatre (Broadway), Lucille Lortel Theatre (Off Broadway), The Pearl Theatre (Off Broadway), Theatre du Chatelet and Comedie Nation (Paris, France), as well as many other venues. Jaime has also authored/composed various musical works. To date, he has co- written THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD (music and lyrics with Tommy Newman, book by Mando Alvarado), which had a critically acclaimed Off-Broadway premiere in the Summer of 2011, with its accessible melodies and robust harmonies (New York Times), followed by a successful national tour; as well as CHILDREN OF SALT; A NEW LATIN MUSICAL, (book and lyrics by Lauren Epsenhart) which had a reading in May 2009 and an industry reading in December 2015. CHILDREN OF SALT made its New York City debut as part of the New York Musical Festival 2016 (NYMF) and won Best of Fest Production Award. Jaime also co-wrote the one-act musical LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE (book and lyrics by Noemi de la Puente) which premiered Off-Broadway at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre in June 2010 and had a very successful run in Venezuela with the debut of its Spanish adaptation in 2015, subsequently coming back to New York City to be part of the very first SEA MicroTheater season at the Lower East Side. THE YEHUATL (book and lyrics by Sara Cooper), read in May 2008 at NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, followed by a second industry reading in January 2009 at the Dramatist Guild and a production at the Lee Strasberg Institute. The Yehuatl later became the first act of the musical tryptich ________ . Mitos . Kamanalis (Myths) and had its World Premiere on December 2012 in Monterrey, Mexico (book and lyrics by Sara Cooper, additional lyrics by Jorge Castilla). Jaime is the composer, lyricist and librettist of the musical TLATELOLCO, which premiered in October 2001 in Monterrey, Mexico, and was revived in 2002, 2004 and 2013. Currently Jaime has been working on a new song cycle called A NEVER-ENDING LINE that had its World Premiere in Paris, France as part of the concert series of Broadway au Carre at the Comedie Nation Theatre. In film, he composed the score for the short film Os by Jesus Alarcon. As an arranger, Jaime has worked with the cast of Broadways IN THE HEIGHTS and with Tony and Grammy award-winner Alex Lacamoire on the Christmas recording Carols for a Cure in 2010. Jaime is also the arranger, orchestrator and music director for the album from the non-profit organization R.Evolucion Latina Dare to Go Beyond, featuring various prominent Broadway performers including Janet Dacal, Andrea Burns, Joshua Henry, Doreen Montalvo, Josefina Scaglione and High School Musicals star Corbin Bleu. Jaime was Alex Lacamoires assistant musical director for the Stephen Schwartz Gala "Making Music", produced by The Harbor Lights Theatre Company at The St. George Theatre, which was directed and choreographed by Chet Walker. He worked as a composer, arranger and music director for the 2010 HOLA Awards, honoring Rita Moreno. He was an arranger for the one-night-only benefit concert "To Mexico from New York with Love", which was organized by Broadway actress Bianca Marroquin. Jaime is co-orchestrator with Alex Lacamoire of the Cuban musical CARMEN LA CUBANA, based on the opera "Carmen" by Bizet, which had its world premiere in Paris, France at the Theatre du Chatelet in April, 2016. With his wife, Mexican actress and singer Florencia Cuenca, the two created a jazz project called The New Standards, recording an album in 2015 with contemporary musical theatre songs, accompanied by jazz arrangements written by Lozano and Jesus Altamira. The project has been performed at prominent venues in New York City, Mexico and Latin America. Jaime is the music producer, arranger and orchestrator of Broadway star Doreen Montalvos new album American Soul / Latin Heart available from Broadway Records. Other professional associations include his affiliation with the non-profit organization R.Evolucion Latina, based in New York City, where he functions as an activist, teacher, music arranger and head composer. He is the artistic director and music producer of La Casita Recording Studio in Monterrey, Mexico and director of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon Musical Theatre Professional Company in Monterrey, Mexico, where he develops new musicals. Currently Jaime is part of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, and he is a voting member of the Latin GRAMMY and GRAMMY Awards.
