Leigh Silverman is a two-time Obie Award-winning American theater director.

She was born in Rockville, Maryland, and raised in Washington, D.C. She attended Carnegie Mellon University, where she earned a BFA in Directing and an MFA in Playwriting. After graduating, she worked as a production assistant on the national tour of Rent.

Silverman's Broadway debut came in 2003 as the Associate Director for the musical Never Gonna Dance. She has since directed several Broadway productions, including Well, Chinglish, The Lifespan of a Fact, Violet, and Grand Horizons.

Silverman's work is known for its intimacy, its honesty, and its ability to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level. She is a master of creating characters that are both real and relatable, and she has a gift for bringing stories to life in a way that is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant.

In addition to her work on Broadway, Silverman has also directed numerous off-Broadway productions, including Blue Door, From Up Here, and The Wolves. She has also directed several regional theater productions, including The Clean House at the Goodman Theatre and The Realistic Joneses at the Yale Repertory Theatre.
