Tituss Burgess is an American actor and singer known for his roles on Broadway and in television. He is best known for his role as Titus Andromedon on the Netflix comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015–2020), for which he has received five Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Burgess was born and raised in Athens, Georgia, and began acting in high school musicals. He went on to study at the University of Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor of Art degree in music. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting.
Burgess made his Broadway debut in 2004 in the musical Good Vibrations. He went on to star in several other Broadway productions, including The Little Mermaid (2008), Jersey Boys (2010), and Guys and Dolls (2009). He won the Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance for his role as Sebastian the Crab in The Little Mermaid.
In addition to his Broadway work, Burgess has also appeared in several films and television shows. He is best known for his role as Titus Andromedon on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He has also appeared in the films Dolemite Is My Name (2019) and Respect (2021).
