About

Tony Shalhoub, born Anthony Marc Shalhoub in 1953, is an American actor with a prolific career spanning stage, screen, and television. He found early success on television with his portrayal of Antonio Scarpacci on the sitcom Wings (1991-1997).

Shalhoub's career skyrocketed with his starring role as Adrian Monk in the detective series Monk (2002-2009). His nuanced performance of a brilliant detective crippled by obsessive-compulsive disorder earned him a whopping three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Beyond television, Shalhoub has a decorated film career with roles in movies like Barton Fink (1991), Big Night (1996), Men in Black (1997), and The Man Who Wasn't There (2001). He's also a familiar voice in animated features like the Cars franchise (2006-2022) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014, 2016).

But Shalhoub's talents extend far beyond the screen. A gifted stage actor, he won the prestigious Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in The Band's Visit (2018).
