You didn't get a spot on Young Sheldon with that? I was supposed to audition for Big Bang Theory. There is a redhead girl who played Roger's girlfriend. Remember her? Yeah. I was supposed to go in for that role. Um, I'm actually very good friends with Bill Pretty, the creator of Big Bang. He's like, hey, you have to audition. And I was like, I'm on the set of the Guild season six. I literally cannot leave. And that other woman got it. Not as good as me. Sorry, girl. But she dressed exactly like me. She's doing a new impression for sure.

Yeah. And then I don't think she stayed that long. So I wouldn't have been like a big, big part. But it would have been nice to be on somebody else's show where I didn't have to worry about craft service. But hey, these are the choices I've made in my career. Plus, those residual checks got to be cute. And now it gets rerun like crazy. Shut up. Don't don't push it in. Don't push it in. That's how I'm I'm on so many drugs right now that I have I'm going to come out completely nonsensical. I love it. It's brilliant. [2:19] Felicia Day: Okay. Why are you on tons of drugs? I was in a hotel room. Okay. I went to Disney World two weekends ago, acquired a cold week before I was it was cleared up by Sunday when I flew out to New York for I live in L.A. Then my hotel room was trash. But I did the production offer to move me. But I was like, no, I don't want to be a diva. I'm just going to sit here in this moldy, shitty hotel. Excuse my language. And I just stayed there. And I got like an ear thing. And then I was like, it's going to get better. It's fine. And every night, because the production and the show is so fun and intense, I can't sleep at night because I have hard to come down. It is hard. I don't know. No wonder everyone does drugs. You need at least two beers, at least two beers or take the melatonin and see the and see the hat man.

[3:13] Alex Murray: Oh, that's so creepy. Still dosing yourself. I, I, I traveled to Australia for very exciting reasons and I came back and I'm a melatonin addict. I think you can say that.

[3:23] Felicia Day: Oh, yeah, we're doing the show. That's on. Did you know that you should only take point three milligrams of melatonin? I take two big pills. No, no, no, no. I will even I will give you the study. You need this. That's why everybody overdoses on melatonin. That's why they get weird dreams. And they also are groggy in the morning. I watched my grandmother die multiple times. Jesus was awful. OK, I need to. OK, that's why. So you need a chewable or a liquid to get point three milligrams. OK, I'm taking two gel caps. No, that is not what you should be doing. I will show you the science. It's very well credited. And that's why most people screw up with the bottle of melatonin. Always tells me to just go ahead and fuck it right up.

Yeah. The bottle melatonin is like, yeah, get wild, man. Yeah. And he's going to get weird. Your grandma misses you. She wants to talk to you in your dream. And let me tell you, I sent her after this. I called her and then afterwards I sent her the copy of Time magazine where the show is featured to like she doesn't know what this is. And so I gave her the I sent it out yesterday. So hopefully she'll have some more context of what I do with my life.

[4:24] Alex Murray: Yeah, exactly. And then which hopefully she won't pass for a long time. I know. Except in your dreams. Except my grandson's on drugs and he's talking to dragons. I don't know what's going on. And you should have never moved to the big city. No. Yeah, I got him. Here we are. The big city. Good grief. Good plan. Playing Dungeons and Dragons for fun.

[4:40] Felicia Day: I mean, anyway, so I went to urgent care. Right. And they weighed me. And for some reason, even though I'm so active on the stage, like more active than I have been in probably 10 years. Yes. I haven't lost anyway. And that was the most angry that I was at the appointment. But somebody else who's had that same problem. I will remind you that you're the one who walks in here with a garbage bag full of pastries for everybody. I love listen, I the reason I love D&D is that I it was probably back in like 2005. When I first moved to L.A., I became part of a Dungeons and Dragons group based out of Acme Comedy Theater is where I started learning writing and sketch. And the owner of that, Travis, who Travis Oates, he actually, I think, has a D&D show on YouTube now.

He had a homebrew and he invited some of the actors to come and play. And every Sunday I would go and that I was the designated brownie cookie maker. Sure. So for some reason, I think that's why every time I show up to a show, I have to put some shit on the table.

[5:50] Alex Murray: So fucking real. I I don't believe I had enjoyed a full sugar soda in like a decade until I started doing this show. And all of a sudden there's just ding dang Mountain Dews everywhere and coves and like and like nerd clusters and like there was just candy. And there's something about it being a Dungeons and Dragons like game that you're like, we should be absolutely all snacking. Yeah, I should be just like morphing down cheese. It's like it's no tomorrow. This show, by the way, brought to you by nerds, dots or whatever the other nerd clusters. We guys are sponsored. We might as well be sponsored by them at this point. [6:57] Felicia Day: Yeah, it's too. It's a diabetic coma of several New York donut places. We have donut plant, which kicks a whole lot of out. Donuts is really good. Pandora's straight up bucks. And Greenpoint is amazing all the way out to my neighborhood. Mike's donut connection in Bayridge is unbelievable. OK, people take the R train to its butthole to get Mike's donut connection. OK.

[7:16] Alex Murray: All right. And now I'm realizing that I'm going to have to bring a bunch of donuts in tomorrow.

[7:48] Alex Murray: Yeah. This is the last show. I'm on like so many drugs. I do not do drugs either. So I'm like, you know, this is it. This is as high as I get speedy as you're going to do.

[8:17] Felicia Day: No, last night. I think it's because last night you got your eyes poked out. I did like olives, you know, just Diego shoved his fingers into your eyeballs and just pulled them out.

[8:42] Felicia Day: I don't know if I could. I you did great. I really am proud of myself that I was able to pace myself, but it really was a struggle. Like but I will say that I am in terrible shape. I mean, you guys are are like Olympic athletes. We get through the weekends.

[8:58] Alex Murray: You we have to be like everybody is like the I am somehow I am not losing weight, but I am in much better shape than I was.

[9:04] Felicia Day: You got muscle months ago. Yeah. You got muscle.

[9:08] Alex Murray: Yeah. Because I have to. It's yoga for me. I'm just like twisting myself around all the time.

[9:12] Felicia Day: Yeah. Maddie. Jump on your back.

[9:17] Alex Murray: Oh, my God, Maddie. Climb all over me. Yeah. She's dense as a star.

[9:21] Felicia Day: She is. I carried her across the stage. Yeah. And I was like, oh, this is a story.

[9:29] Felicia Day: No. She's very tiny. Yeah. Very tiny. But she's all. It's just all muscle. It's just muscle. I don't think she can float. Probably throw it at all. She would think just like she would drop to the bottom for sure. Let's not try it.

[9:37] Alex Murray: But OK, I don't know. There's a pool across the street.

[9:41] Felicia Day: She's so funny. There's a river. I think she's the funniest person. I will say I'm going to flex a little bit. I did improv with Kristen Wiig back in the day. And I think Maddie is as funny like she's that level funny.

[9:52] Alex Murray: Maddie is so fucking funny. She's also just like it just doesn't stop her and Diego's, but they just they're very giving. You know, in L.A., I will say in L.A., the actors tend to be a lot more selfish. It's all about them. And they're like, this is my narrative. I probably have done it here. But it's really a very generous give and take where we're collaborating and making things together. And it's very refreshing. I love it. I'm always going to carry that with me.

[10:14] Felicia Day: I mean, you've come right into the like giving. We think last night it got a little away from you walked off and you were like, no, too much murder, too much.

[10:23] Alex Murray: I know I went really, really far. And then we turned it around. Exactly. Right around there. But it was like, OK, here's how we can fix it. And like and it turned out to be beautiful because she gave up the murder, except she did murder Diego's mom. But, you know, they deserve one last murder. And it was a billionaire. You were murdering a horrible capitalist. Not a bad thing.

[10:39] Felicia Day: I think that's so true. That Batman murder, those murders are OK. That's like the ethos I want to bring to the show is like, I think collectively we are so much smarter than any one person could be and so much funnier than any one person. You get a lot of people in the room who are all so funny on their own. Like think of the vortex of insanity that happens. And that's like, yeah, so what I want to cultivate here and what has been like a delight to see you come in and slot yourself in so naturally to this group.

[11:10] Alex Murray: I think celebrities can often feel this is my read, by the way. Tell me if I'm wrong.

[11:13] Felicia Day: Oh, yeah. Celebrities coming into things can be an isolating experience. You get your own dressing room. You're kind of you're held up on a pedestal. You have this kind of bubble around you, perhaps.

[11:21] Alex Murray: Yeah, I think what we do here and what you've been so great is like becoming part of the team like that.

[11:25] Felicia Day: No, no, I didn't want my private area. I don't want to be alone. Don't leave me alone. No, because that's a beautiful thing about improv. If you play it in a way that it's not all about you, which is not like this. I mean, I think short form can do that, you know, because you're just like, hey, let's grab them. And if somebody's clever, they're going to grab it and they're going to go with their idea. But this, you know, it's not on rails, but there's guidelines, which makes it safer to be more collaborative, which is very fun. It's like storytelling. But we don't know what's going to happen every night. It's like, oh, my God, I can't believe that just happened on the dice.

[11:58] Alex Murray: The dice of course. Last night, we were building. So I don't know if we've talked about it on the podcast a lot. So I will say that like, at intermission, it's essentially a 20 minute, just balls out, hyper fast writers room, right?

[12:09] Felicia Day: Yeah, for you, especially.

[12:15] Alex Murray: Yeah, for the DMS trying to get down some jokes and some epilogues and where they want to go, and then they turn around. But like, I'll definitely be like, like, while the characters are talking about their arcs over my shoulder, I'll be like, Diego, Diego, give me a give me an emo pun for a restaurant. And yeah, it's like, he just throws one out this person in the world and get the funniest thing.

[12:33] Felicia Day: Oh my God. It goes so far. It's so good. It's the the wordplay with him. There are puns and the stuff. That's the thing. I don't do references. I have no reference. I grew up I was homeschooled. I'm not very pop culture literate. I know what I know. Yeah. Some nerd things I'm very good at, but I'm not a reference or a pun person. And like whenever Maddie or Diego or anybody will go heavy in on the road, it's so good, especially the like the dead wizard stuff when we get his name. And then it's like something we can just sit there and just absolutely for an hour.

[13:04] Alex Murray: I know if you let him go, we could be the whole show would be just references.

[13:10] Felicia Day: I know. I know. I mean, yeah, it's almost like you could do 10 minute scenes every time because everyone knows their character so well and everybody's just like supporting and making story.

[13:21] Alex Murray: Yeah, the story coming and then the dice. That's I will say we had a story last night. Yes, last night. And then we were going to do a thing. And then the dice just killed your two party. I could not believe it. I was supposed to die. I was playing Ethel, the old lady. I had I was going to kill you dead. I know. And we were like, OK, Ethel's probably going to die. She only has ten hit points. Everybody else has thirty eight. And the chaos table kills the other two drop Chester. Forty five hit points. It was so random. It's true chaos. That's the I think that's what's great about really fun improv, too, is when it gets super.
