[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.
[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.
[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.
[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
[0:35] Andrew: Oh my gosh!
[0:40] Andrew: Welcome to round three of the Glacket. We are recording this on March 30th, the exact day four years ago that Gleek of the Week premiered.
[0:53] Andrew: And that's insane.
[0:55] Allison: Wait, who the heck are- who the heck was that?
[0:58] Andrew: Oh, excuse me.
[0:59] Andrew: Um, excuse me, introduce yourself.
[1:00] Allison: Hi, my name's Allison. I used to host this podcast, and I was here four years ago.
[1:09] Allison: I was here when it was written, okay?
[1:11] Andrew: Yeah, the scripture, yeah. And we're also joined by someone else that was there completing the trifecta.
[1:19] Jenny Gorelick: Oh my god, it's me, the first ever Gleek of the Week-glust. Jenny Gorelick, hi!
[1:27] Andrew: Jenny Gorelick! Oh my goodness!
[1:32] Jenny Gorelick: Um, I am- I don't know why I'm like so nervous because like, I'm joined by two of my closest Gleek friends, and yet, I'm nervous?
[1:41] Allison: No.
[1:41] Jenny Gorelick: I feel like that's kind of to simulate how it felt before our first episode-
[1:46] Allison: History repeating.
[1:48] Jenny Gorelick: Of- of anything. Like, it's kind of like a trip down memory lane.
[1:51] Andrew: But you're a Glekspert at this point, right?
[1:54] Jenny Gorelick: I know.
[1:54] Andrew: How many episodes is this?
[1:56] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, actually, let me-
[1:58] Andrew: That's a good question.
[1:59] Jenny Gorelick: That is a really, really great question. Let me see.
[2:02] Andrew: And that's what you missed on Gleek.
[2:04] Jenny Gorelick: Um, that's what you really missed.
[2:06] Jenny Gorelick: It's 200-some, if I had to guess.
[2:09] Andrew: It is- well, okay, so Glacket episodes, this is Glacket episode 169.
[2:15] Jenny Gorelick: Wow! Oh my god! 666 songs, 169 Glacket episodes.
[2:22] Andrew: Exactly. Do you- Allison, do you remember who guest 69 was?
[2:28] Allison: By any- this is a real deep dive trivia.
[2:32] Andrew: Guest 69?
[2:33] Allison: Uh-huh. And it makes sense when you think about it.
[2:36] Andrew: And it makes sense when you think about it. Samuel Larson?
[2:39] Allison: Ooh! So close.
[2:42] Andrew: Damian McKinty?
[2:44] Allison: Come on, keep on going. You got it.
[2:46] Andrew: Uh, Cameron Mitchell?
[2:47] Allison: Cameron Mitchell! Hell yeah!
[2:49] Andrew: Yeah! There we go.
[2:50] Allison: And I think that we all- no. Can I say-
[2:54] Andrew: Okay. I knew where you were going to take that.
[2:55] Allison: We all took turns 69ing, and that's actually true.
[3:00] Jenny Gorelick: Actually, Cameron Mitchell, when he came onto this podcast, it was not what he thought it was going to be at all.
[3:06] Allison: Oh no.
[3:07] Jenny Gorelick: And he did not share the episode once it was released, and that's okay.
[3:11] Andrew: What?
[3:11] Allison: That's all right.
[3:12] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah.
[3:12] Allison: How sad.
[3:13] Jenny Gorelick: How sad. But you know who did share her episode? Jenny Gorelick. Jenny?
[3:17] Jenny Gorelick: Exactly.
[3:18] Jenny Gorelick: Always. I'll share it again, and I have so many more followers now, too.
[3:23] Andrew: Get those reply guys on the glacket.
[3:27] Jenny Gorelick: The guys are going to be listed- I'll post it to my OnlyFans.
[3:30] Andrew: Oh, hell yeah.
[3:31] Jenny Gorelick: Very fun. Very fun.
[3:34] Andrew: Jenny, you were such a perfect guest. I listened back to the episode today on my walk.
[3:40] Jenny Gorelick: As did I. I listened to it, too.
[3:42] Andrew: Oh, incredible. Wait, do you want to share your thoughts first?
[3:47] Jenny Gorelick: No, you first. You were going to give me a compliment, so you go first.
[3:49] Andrew: Oh, of course. Well, I think that even though I'm still nervous twice over with the same two people again today, you have a way of alleviating everything.
[4:03] Andrew: And you were okay with everything being kind of off the wall. It was fine.
[4:09] Jenny Gorelick: We were, like, laughing too much, all of us.
[4:14] Jenny Gorelick: Like, we were just like, ha ha ha, just like to nothing.
[4:18] Andrew: Okay, note taken. Note taken, I'll have less fun this time.
[4:22] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, let's actually clock in. Yeah.
[4:25] Andrew: Dial it down. Dial it down.
[4:26] Jenny Gorelick: Let's be serious, please.
[4:29] Andrew: This is very important.
[4:31] Jenny Gorelick: It was wild. Jenny, I know that I would assume that you've lost track of the glacket since four years, but the episodes have...
[4:39] Jenny Gorelick: I'm so sorry. I don't know. I don't know where we are in the glacket these days, and I'm really excited to catch up. And I'm sorry.
[4:47] Allison: No. Oh, my God. No, it's fine. Because the episodes, especially since Allison left, have been like three hours long. This episode will not be that long.
[5:01] Jenny Gorelick: But, you know, it was wild leaving today. I felt like I was in, like, severance because, like, I started the episode as I was going down the elevator, and I timed it perfectly. So, like, I, like, went on a 45-minute walk, and I came back as I was coming back in the elevator. It ended.
[5:22] Andrew: See, that's how it should be. I don't want... I don't... I mean, do I love every single episode that has been put out by this podcast? Yes.
[5:33] Jenny Gorelick: You better say that. You better say that, Allison.
[5:38] Allison: But I do think if it takes me three-plus days of driving to work and coming home to finish one episode... But to be honest, to be honest, maybe that's just enough content.
[5:50] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. Because I do catch up on other podcasts too quick. And I'm just like, oh, God, I got to wait a whole other week for another episode.
[6:00] Andrew: And maybe three hours will satiate me, but I... Somebody called it out in the comments a couple of weeks ago, but I was the person keeping it moving.
[6:10] Jenny Gorelick: You were. And you were... Which is good. It, like, it...
[6:14] Andrew: Yeah.
[6:14] Jenny Gorelick: As much as I love to yap, I don't like to edit that much. So, I can't have both.
[6:20] Andrew: I'm saving you work.
[6:21] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. You're saving me work. So...
[6:23] Andrew: So true. I mean, for me, and I'm looking now, you're not lying. February 25th's episode was three hours and 32 minutes.
[6:33] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah.
[6:34] Andrew: Wow. That's wild. I love it. For me, it's a testament to the two of you that the format at the show was already so fun and so clear from episode one, right off the jump.
[6:46] Allison: Yeah.
[6:48] Andrew: Yeah. And what I find so funny listening back is we got some of the worst songs in all of Glee history in that first episode. Like, terrible, terrible songs.
[7:01] Jenny Gorelick: It was wild.
[7:02] Andrew: The first one was what?
[7:04] Jenny Gorelick: You can't touch this.
[7:05] Andrew: In the library, you can't touch this?
[7:07] Jenny Gorelick: Yes. An arty number. An arty solo. And then it was up against a Christmas number.
[7:12] Andrew: Not even a good one. Santa Claus is coming to the town.
[7:14] Jenny Gorelick: No!
[7:15] Andrew: Santa Claus is coming to the town.
[7:18] Jenny Gorelick: Coming to the town.
[7:19] Andrew: Not just any town. The town.
[7:20] Jenny Gorelick: Santa Claus is coming to the town.
[7:22] Andrew: Like, not even a good Christmas song. And then we got the weird, like...
[7:29] Jenny Gorelick: Well, we got Man in the Mirror, thank God. And then we got...
[7:31] Andrew: Yep. Mike Thatchang.
[7:32] Jenny Gorelick: Yep.
[7:33] Andrew: Thank God for that. But then we got the weird, like, Baby Got Back.
[7:37] Jenny Gorelick: Baby Got Back.
[7:38] Andrew: Sad Baby Got Back version from the other Glee competitor a cappella group. Like, what the hell?
[7:44] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah.
[7:46] Andrew: What the hell? We got cursed. They were like, we don't want you to have any fun.
[7:50] Jenny Gorelick: And then we got a Kurt solo at the end. And I'm like, of anyone.
[7:53] Andrew: It was a... I got a Glock checky right there. It was a Clayne duet from the series finale.
[7:57] Jenny Gorelick: Sorry.
[7:57] Andrew: Yeah.
[7:58] Jenny Gorelick: I'm sorry.
[7:58] Andrew: Clayne erasure.
[8:00] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, yeah.
[8:01] Andrew: Uh-huh.
[8:01] Jenny Gorelick: I don't mean to forget about my favorite...
[8:05] Andrew: He Feels Queer, even though he isn't. I can't forget about that.
[8:09] Jenny Gorelick: Wait, how did... Culturally...
[8:10] Andrew: Culturally queer.
[8:12] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah.
[8:12] Andrew: I can't forget about my favorite culturally queer actor on Glee.
[8:16] Jenny Gorelick: Mm-hmm.
[8:18] Andrew: And there's quite the list to choose from.
[8:21] Jenny Gorelick: So true. I could have picked... I could have picked Lea Michele, but no.
[8:24] Andrew: Right.
[8:27] Jenny Gorelick: Oh my God.
[8:28] Andrew: Yeah. Wait, so that was, like, such a wild episode. I also forgot that, like, we... Before any song is pulled, I just, like, off the cuff, I'm like, oh, watch it be, like, an arty solo. And then Allison says, like, watch it be a Christmas song. And that's exactly what the competition is. That's wild.
[8:49] Allison: Yeah. Manifesting works.
[8:51] Jenny Gorelick: It really did.
[8:52] Andrew: Both witches.
[8:53] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. Getting them in one group chat is crazy.
[8:57] Allison: Do you remember when we would just, like, sit and do our beginning, like, our opening with the guests, like, sitting in the Zoom?
[9:04] Jenny Gorelick: So spooky scary. Yeah.
[9:11] Andrew: We just did that just now.
[9:13] Jenny Gorelick: No, but, like, sometimes they were, like, long. It was, like, 10, 15 minutes of me and Andrew talking and Lindsay Heather Pierce just sitting there.
[9:20] Allison: I was literally thinking about this. When you brought that up, I was, like, actually, the first person to not have that happen was Lindsay Pierce, because we were, like, we do not...
[9:30] Andrew: So, like, you don't need to carry that on your conscience, actually, of, like, putting Lindsay Pierce through that. We did not do that for Lindsay Pierce. We did that for, like...
[9:38] Jenny Gorelick: But we did do that for Noah Guthrie.
[9:40] Andrew: We did it for, like, Noah Guthrie. Like, these, like, people from the show that it's, like, you don't even know who we are, and we're just, like, having this awkward conversation.
[9:48] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, for what?
[9:49] Andrew: That's so Glee, though.
[9:50] Jenny Gorelick: It really is.
[9:51] Andrew: That's so Glee Club.
[9:52] Jenny Gorelick: It's camp. It's kind of camp.
[9:53] Andrew: It's in the DNA. Yeah.
[9:54] Jenny Gorelick: And who's the biggest? So the biggest people that you've had in these 200 episodes, 300 episodes? Artie and Tina?
[10:01] Andrew: 5,000, yeah. Artie and Tina.
[10:03] Jenny Gorelick: Kevin and Jenna, yep. And I would say Heather.
[10:06] Andrew: Heather.
[10:06] Jenny Gorelick: And Heather's huge. So...
[10:08] Andrew: Robert.
[10:10] Jenny Gorelick: When are we getting Jonathan Grohl and...
[10:12] Andrew: Hey, Jenny, I'm gonna bleep this.
[10:15] Jenny Gorelick: The person that was supposed to be on this episode, and this is not any detriment to, like, either of you, because I'm having a fun time, and I would be 3,000 times more nervous if the actual guest transpired in the way that, you know, it was intended to happen on April 2nd, as the date was locked in and then yanked away from me. But it was...
[10:36] Andrew: Glee!
[10:37] Jenny Gorelick: Oh my God. You can't bleep this. Just bleep the name.
[10:40] Andrew: Bleep the name, but then let them think and wonder, oh, my God.
[10:43] Jenny Gorelick: I did.
[10:44] Andrew: OK, but, well, are there people still talking to you?
[10:47] Jenny Gorelick: So the people... OK, so this... OK, I bleeped it. If you do want to know who the person is, I revealed it to the patrons that, like, I was like, hey, by the way, like, I was in conversation. This was something that was, like, going to happen.
[10:59] Andrew: In the works.
[11:00] Jenny Gorelick: And the door is still open. This person is...
[11:04] Andrew: Oh my God.
[11:05] Jenny Gorelick: Just too busy right now.
[11:07] Andrew: OK, sure. You're going to get them. They're talking to you.
[11:10] Jenny Gorelick: They're talking.
[11:11] Andrew: Yeah, they want to do it.
[11:13] Jenny Gorelick: Oh my God.
[11:14] Andrew: Isn't that crazy?
[11:16] Jenny Gorelick: Look how far you've come.
[11:18] Andrew: That's amazing. Wow, I'm so proud. OK, listeners, just, like, let's take a moment to be proud.
[11:25] Allison: And that's enough. And now we're done.
[11:29] Andrew: You know, but you started it all. You really paved the way, Jenny.
[11:33] Jenny Gorelick: Thank you.
[11:33] Andrew: What if we had, like, a terrible first guest and, like, we were like, no, we actually we don't ever want to do that again.
[11:40] Jenny Gorelick: I think the podcast would be cancelled. It would have been over.
[11:44] Andrew: So you're going to have to fill me in. Catch me up on what I missed on Glee.
[11:47] Jenny Gorelick: Where are we in the Glackett? And, like, what's even going on today?
[11:50] Andrew: So here's what you really miss on the Glackett.
[11:55] Andrew: So we finished round one of the Glackett, which means that we watched and ranked the all six hundred and sixty six.
[12:04] Andrew: So half of them went through to round two.
[12:07] Jenny Gorelick: OK, just finished round two.
[12:09] Andrew: OK, over the course of round two, Allison was like, I got to turn in my Glee card. I can't do this anymore. I'm done.
[12:14] Jenny Gorelick: You know what? People leave the show.
[12:18] Andrew: People leave the show sometimes because they died.
[12:21] Jenny Gorelick: And thank God that's not why.
[12:23] Andrew: Hey, Jenny, that's so true.
[12:25] Andrew: That's you're so unafraid to say it as it is.
[12:31] Jenny Gorelick: And so this is the first episode of round three.
[12:34] Andrew: Oh my God.
[12:35] Jenny Gorelick: Fun. I'm so excited.
[12:38] Andrew: Joe was asking me, like, OK, at this point, how many songs are there?
[12:42] Jenny Gorelick: And I had to do some mental math.
[12:44] Andrew: Round three is like what?
[12:46] Jenny Gorelick: One hundred sixty some odd songs.
[12:49] Andrew: One hundred eighty.
[12:50] Jenny Gorelick: One hundred eighty. Wow.
[12:51] Andrew: OK, yeah.
[12:51] Jenny Gorelick: And presumably only the best ones, although it's possible that two bad songs.
[12:56] Andrew: Yeah, two bad songs could have made it against each other.
[12:59] Jenny Gorelick: Exactly.
[13:00] Andrew: Yeah.
[13:01] Jenny Gorelick: I'm scared.
[13:02] Andrew: I'm scared for this round.
[13:05] Jenny Gorelick: I'm scared for I think that I mean, throughout this entire process, people have been upset.
[13:13] Andrew: Oh yeah, that's kind of in the DNA, again.
[13:16] Allison Dodge: I want to warn everyone that round three is going to be tough.
[13:20] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, of course.
[13:20] Andrew: We're going to have some hard moments, but you know what? We're going to get through it together as a community, and it's going to be okay.
[13:29] Allison Dodge: At the end of the day, this is a Glee plot. Glee-gla-gla.
[13:31] Jenny Gorelick: It's so true. And I think if you're upset about the choices that were made, I think you should leave a review and say what you think the choice should have been, and then leave five stars. Leave five stars, and then you say, but you guys were wrong, and this is what it should have been.
[13:49] Andrew: I forget who it was, but someone recently brought up in a comment or in the Patreon chat or something that it was like, we got to get rid of the anger. Because at this point, it's an honor that they made it this far.
[14:02] Allison Dodge: Exactly.
[14:03] Jenny Gorelick: Right. So they've been vetted twice.
[14:07] Andrew: Yeah. I'm interested to see if, not that the conversations would be ever boring in general, because we're all friends here. But will we have, I'm excited to just get into more discourse on these songs, now that they're going to be the third time around that they're coming through. And compare that to, I mean, I will never personally listen to our first episode again. I'm really proud of you both for listening to that. That is a personal journey I could never go on. It was better than I thought. It was fine. I woke up this morning and I was more scared to actually listen to that than anything else. I was like, this is actually one of the hardest things I'll ever do in my life.
[14:52] Jenny Gorelick: But to compare the two, like, okay, we got Bottom of the Barrel, kind of, literally anything, won in 666 in that first episode. And now we're here with almost, not the cream of the crop yet.
[15:06] Allison Dodge: No.
[15:07] Andrew: But some really great songs that have fought their way through.
[15:11] Jenny Gorelick: Right. And I'm assuming...
[15:12] Allison Dodge: So exciting to discuss.
[15:14] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah.
[15:15] Andrew: I'm assuming that we're not gonna have any more Artie solos at this point.
[15:18] Jenny Gorelick: Hey, guess...
[15:19] Allison Dodge: There are a couple.
[15:20] Jenny Gorelick: Actually, there's not a couple. There's one.
[15:24] Andrew: Oh, my God. What if we get it?
[15:26] Jenny Gorelick: Artie suffered the most. And it was...
[15:29] Allison Dodge: Well, that would be my assumption. I'm so sorry. I know he's been on the pod, Friend of the Pod, but I would assume.
[15:35] Andrew: Kevin McHale. No, that was like, it was like a real wake up call for me. What happened to Artie over the course of the Glacket thus far? Like, that was like, I think that if we were to go back and do this exercise again, I think that Artie would have a few more Artolos to his name right now.
[15:54] Jenny Gorelick: Artolos.
[15:55] Andrew: I feel bad about that.
[15:55] Jenny Gorelick: What is the one? What is the one Artolo?
[15:58] Andrew: You know it.
[15:59] Jenny Gorelick: Never going back.
[16:00] Andrew: Never going... been down one time.
[16:03] Jenny Gorelick: That's the one that if any of the Artie solos deserve to be here, it's that song.
[16:08] Allison Dodge: R.A.P. Stinky Dance.
[16:09] Jenny Gorelick: I hope we can call that tonight. R.A.P. Dream a Little Dream. R.A.P. P.Y.T.
[16:14] Andrew: Love you. Love you big time. Yep. Yep.
[16:17] Jenny Gorelick: R.A.P.
[16:17] Andrew: So are we going to be doing, sticking with the same format of six songs per episode or?
[16:23] Jenny Gorelick: I'm so glad you asked. Because, all right, so I did the math. And turns out, I really do like doing this on a weekly basis. So if I were to continue doing six songs per episode, that would leave that with like the round three finale would be in November, which is pretty soon.
[16:46] Allison Dodge: Yeah, it's pretty soon.
[16:47] Jenny Gorelick: If I do four songs an episode, you get an additional 15 episodes in round three.
[16:53] Andrew: Worth it.
[16:54] Jenny Gorelick: I like that.
[16:55] Jenny Gorelick: Thus, I'm continuing. I'm going to start with this episode doing four songs an episode.
[17:01] Allison Dodge: Well, and I think that's such a good, even comment on the three hour long episodes.
[17:08] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, yeah.
[17:08] Andrew: I think that will help you editing wise. And I think that will help you when you do have an hour of Matthew Morrison's time.
[17:16] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, yeah.
[17:16] Andrew: Oh, my God. Screaming, crying, throwing up, trying to get six songs.
[17:20] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, there are some episodes, I won't call them out. But like, there's certain episodes that I'm like, oh, we had to watch the like, six performances. And also, I need to get in questions. And also, we needed to vote. And also, we needed to have an intro. And it was like, I only have an hour. And it was, yeah, it was spooky, scary.
[17:38] Allison Dodge: So crazy mayhem. So I think the four, I think I am fully behind four songs an episode. And just the further that point, I think that also like helps with like, I know, certain that there is going to be episodes where like, both competitions are going to like, make me want to vomit everywhere.
[17:54] Andrew: Right?
[17:55] Jenny Gorelick: So like, now it's like,
[17:56] Andrew: It's getting the stakes are high.
[17:57] Jenny Gorelick: Stakes are too high. And I can't I can't hold space for that. I can't be doing three competitions that want to make me throw up on a weekly basis.
[18:04] Andrew: No, you can't be killing all your darlings. You have to add.
[18:08] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, speaking of that, speaking of Matthew Morrison, who came up for a second, I feel like the TikTok discourse on Matthew Morrison is alive and ready and thriving. Like, I think I feel like we're, we're I just think that people Mr. Shoe is like, popping off on TikTok, not in a good way.
[18:27] Andrew: People are upset about Mr. Shoe. But I feel like he's getting more notoriety and attention than he has in a few years.
[18:34] Jenny Gorelick: Wait, what's on your FYP?
[18:37] Andrew: I don't know, Mr. Mr. Shoe being awkward. Do you not have that?
[18:41] Jenny Gorelick: Do you not have Mr. Shoe being a creep on here?
[18:44] Andrew: He like posted like, I saw the one video where he was like, he had like, bleached hair. He bleached his hair. And he's like, Hey, guys, it's Matthew Morrison. And the top comment was, is that Matthew Morrison?
[18:59] Jenny Gorelick: I'm not getting his videos. I will now that I'm talking about it next to my phone. I'm right now I will see his haircut, his bleach job. Can't wait. But no, I'm getting like, I'm getting clips from Glee where people are like, funny. Oh, what the hell, Mr. Shoe? Uh huh.
[19:15] Andrew: Yeah, people go through waves. Like, I think that it's a cyclical, like, rotation between characters. Like, I feel like if Sue has a viral TikTok audio, then next week, it'll be talking about how Lea Michele can't read. Yeah. And then the next week, it'll be Matthew Morrison. Mr. Shoe is weird. And then the next week, it'll be what was season six. And then the next week, it'll be back to Sue has a viral audio.
[19:46] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, every I love to see just people rediscovering the show and then going through the same loop that everybody has like coming to the same exact conclusions that everybody has because it's unity. Yeah. And community.
[20:05] Andrew: Who would be getting the Sabrina Carpenter songs? Have you already talked about this?
[20:08] Jenny Gorelick: Um, we haven't. Not us personally, but I do. Yeah, you have. You're a carpenter, Allison.
[20:16] Allison Dodge: I'm I've been to her concert. I saw her singing on a toilet.
[20:19] Jenny Gorelick: I want to go. I'm like, who who would have gotten espresso?
[20:23] Andrew: I got to go completely off the rails. But I just said, like, I'm, I'm really interested in hearing. And I guess I'm worried about Matthew Morrison. And also now I'm thinking about like, I hope that it wouldn't have been him. Like, what would Mr. Shoe get? If Mr. Shoe sang a Sabrina Carpenter song, I feel like it would be don't smile.
[20:39] Allison Dodge: Okay.
[20:49] Andrew: How does that go? Smile? Because it's don't smile.
[20:53] Jenny Gorelick: Does it happen? Babies cry because it's over.
[21:01] Andrew: Dancier one. Like, don't you think Mr. Shoe would be like, have you ever tried this one?
[21:06] Jenny Gorelick: That's true. Oh, God, Mr. Shoes. Juno would physically hurt me. But I do. I mean, I see him singing don't smile with like a ukulele. And it's like, the Glee Club is over officially for the 15th time. Or yeah, I could see him just like absolutely tearing to shreds. Something poppier that at the end, the kids are like, please never do that again.
[21:33] Andrew: Right. But you could still you could still listen to it. You can still buy on iTunes.
[21:38] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, you can you for $1.29.
[21:40] Andrew: Yeah, right. TBT.
[21:42] Jenny Gorelick: But but big time scary. I do think espresso. Espresso feels like a Tina solo.
[21:51] Andrew: No.
[21:52] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, okay. I actually I actually want to unpack Jenny's No. Jenny, what was the no?
[22:00] Jenny Gorelick: It was my most listened to Spotify wrapped song. And you don't want to come back?
[22:05] Jenny Gorelick: I don't want I don't want to go. Sorry, Tina, friend of the pod. I'm coming for their throats.
[22:14] Andrew: I'm like, I've been away for years. And I'm being so mean. I'm sorry, guys. I love you. But no, I want to I want I want like, what about a boy?
[22:25] Jenny Gorelick: I was just thinking, I feel like it's a Sam song.
[22:30] Andrew: Oh, right. What else in your face is saying another story?
[22:35] Jenny Gorelick: No, I think it's just I mean, when I picture espresso being done on Glee, I see it on the like, concrete steps in the lunch area. And I all hung up.
[22:47] Andrew: Yeah.
[22:48] Jenny Gorelick: And I see Tina in like the sparkly outfit from the concert from the Sabrina Carpenter concert. And I see it as like a fun little one off. Like, what's even the context of hung up like a lot of I feel like the context of a lot of Tina songs are just I'm a bad bitch, and you won't give me a solo. So I'm going to do one on my own or in a dream dream sequence. And that's what is how espresso would be treated. I don't think that it's like a competition song or anything. I think it's a fun, a fun, of course, they would do that. So here's how we're going to do it.
[23:25] Andrew: Yeah, dream sequence situation.
[23:28] Jenny Gorelick: Okay, you're saying Tina dream sequence. Jenny is absolutely not saying Tina.
[23:33] Andrew: I'm saying let's give it to Blaine.
[23:34] Jenny Gorelick: You're saying Blaine.
[23:36] Andrew: Yeah, let's give it a poppy boys.
[23:38] Jenny Gorelick: I'm saying I'm gonna I'm gonna build on the Sam. And I'm gonna say espresso, coffee, coffee house. Sam's going to do a coffee house version of espresso.
[23:49] Andrew: Oh, I like that. I like that.
[23:52] Jenny Gorelick: That's fun. That's fun.
[23:53] Andrew: This is why we workshop and this is why I always come out on top.
[23:58] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, I vote for your choice.
[23:59] Andrew: Thanks so much.
[24:00] Jenny Gorelick: I've ever. Okay, last question on the Sabrina Carpenter train is please, please, please going to Rachel Berry is going to Santana. Is it going to...
[24:10] Andrew: No, I that feels like a giveaway. Rolo.
[24:14] Jenny Gorelick: Clearly, Quinn gets a rollo. What? What? Yeah, I'm got Quinn. There's one gets bed cam.
[24:19] Andrew: Oh, yeah. Wait, sing that to me. I feel so stupid.
[24:37] Jenny Gorelick: That feels like Diana Agron's range like a little bit higher.
[24:42] Andrew: Um, and feels like that just makes sense to me. It feels like season one Quinn, like, in the Cheerios outfit. And maybe she's like, maybe this is like a completely different universe. But maybe she like wants to get pregnant. Wow. And she's trying to convince Finn to consummate.
[25:07] Allison Dodge: Great. She did. She did want to get pregnant again in season three to fertilize her in the words of our President Donald Trump.
[25:20] Andrew: Don't bring him in.
[25:22] Jenny Gorelick: The last time we had a recording, we had a completely different president.
[25:27] Andrew: He is safe from Trump, please.
[25:29] Jenny Gorelick: Did we at that time? I guess? Yeah. Joe Biden was inaugurated in January 2021.
[25:35] Andrew: It is crazy to think about. Yeah, like we recorded the first episode just like a little over a month, I guess, like two months after construction. It was just that's crazy, right?
[25:50] Allison Dodge: People were graduating high school when we started this podcast. And now there's they're graduating college. I got my like vaccine. Like, yeah, maybe I think that I got my vaccine. I remember the the morning that the Jean Marco episode came out. Episode five.
[26:08] Jenny Gorelick: Jean Marco shows up on my For You page literally all the time. Famous boy. Very popular.
[26:17] Andrew: Yeah. And I think he credits it to the week podcast.
[26:25] Jenny Gorelick: Comedy Cellar or Acme Comedy Club or whatever. I expect John Marco to just show up. I really hope one day just so I can be like he was on our podcast. He lives in the walls.
[26:43] Allison Dodge: Who's singing Hot to Go? The Cheerios? That's Britney. You think it's Britney, right? It's like I can see these songs in my head. Pink Pony Club's Kurt.
[26:56] Allison Dodge: Okay, so Pink Pony Club is really interesting because a lot of people are campaigning for Kurt. I think Kurt is what comes to mind. But I don't know if you know this actress by the name of Lea Michele, but she's been really campaigning. She's going to be singing that on tour. I'm calling it right now. She literally said that on her Instagram story. She was like, okay, guys, what songs would Rachel sing? And then she screenshotted some of the replies and only circled Pink Pony Club. And she's like, guess I'm going to be singing this on tour.
[27:30] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, she's singing it.
[27:30] Allison Dodge: And then she ignored the rest. I wonder if she couldn't read them.
[27:34] Jenny Gorelick: I wonder if she couldn't read this suggestion.
[27:38] Allison Dodge: Jenny, you are...
[27:39] Jenny Gorelick: Well, Lea Michele, please.
[27:42] Allison Dodge: I'm being evil today.
[27:43] Jenny Gorelick: You're on the pulse of all the Gleeks. Yes.
[27:47] Allison Dodge: Lea Michele, if you're listening, can you please come to Minneapolis just once, please? Just once. You come to Chicago all the time. Why are you so afraid? You come to Chicago all the time. Come on tour.
[27:59] Jenny Gorelick: She canceled the last time that she, wait, was she supposed to?
[28:02] Allison Dodge: Yeah, I was gonna go to her show at City Winery in Chicago. And then she canceled because she got Funny Girl, which is like, okay, fine. And we did see that. Okay. And it was great. But that was the era when Lea Michele canceled her concert and Darren Criss canceled his concert on me. So I was just like, I'm not destined to see any of these people ever again. I think I'm done with Glee. I quit this podcast. I'm done.
[28:33] Jenny Gorelick: You can never be done with Glee.
[28:37] Allison Dodge: It will haunt me forever.
[28:38] Jenny Gorelick: I mean, we're caught up. Me and Joe watch all of Lost. We watched all of White Lotus and are fully caught up. We watched all of Severance as it was coming out. And now we kind of need a show to watch.
[28:59] Allison Dodge: Joe's never watched?
[29:01] Jenny Gorelick: He's never watched Glee all the way through.
[29:02] Allison Dodge: Wow. You gotta sit that boy down.
[29:06] Jenny Gorelick: Interesting. Lock him up. Turn on the TV. We're not getting out. Never. Maybe it'll be like our background of our video games TV show. I think it's a really good background show to have for y'all.
[29:22] Allison Dodge: I think we'll get a reboot someday, don't you?
[29:25] Jenny Gorelick: I mean, they're rebooting Harry Potter at this point. So it's like, what isn't sacred? Me and Elias were talking about this. Do you remember this cursed Ryan Murphy Instagram from 2020? Where he like, it was a season three cast picture of Glee.
[29:39] Allison Dodge: Oh, yeah.
[29:44] Jenny Gorelick: And he like, put faces of the biggest stars over.
[29:50] Allison Dodge: You mean like they'd be in Glee?
[29:51] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. And so wait, let me let me find this. No, I've not seen this. And I'm excited. We talk about this like once a quarter. I feel like.
[30:00] Allison Dodge: No, no. But like there was something that actually I want to bring it up. It's insane. And it has since been deleted. Was quickly deleted.
[30:06] Jenny Gorelick: It was quickly deleted.
[30:08] Allison Dodge: Yeah. Okay. Oh, are you ready for this? This is I forgot this. I'll start with the craziest one. Scarlett Johansson as Tina.
[30:24] Jenny Gorelick: We didn't actually give that any time.
[30:29] Allison Dodge: Isn't that this picture? So audio medium. This Photoshop is so crazy. It's like definitely pre-AI. Also, do you think I'm seeing Timothee Chalamet?
[30:42] Jenny Gorelick: Robert Pattinson in there.
[30:44] Allison Dodge: Robert Pattinson as Kurt.
[30:45] Jenny Gorelick: No.
[30:47] Allison Dodge: Yeah. And sorry. Saoirse Ronan as Rachel.
[30:49] Jenny Gorelick: Saoirse Ronan obviously.
[30:51] Allison Dodge: Okay. Oh, wait. It's crazy. And also what I realized. Did he let Quinn stay? Sorry. Wait, is that still Diana Agron?
[31:01] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, no, that's Margot Robbie. But okay. Sorry. It looks like I'm like the only cast member who can stay is Diana. I just thought this was like really crazy.
[31:12] Allison Dodge: Yeah. Also, what I realized yesterday while looking at it is Charles Melton is Mike Chang. And I guess I never put two and two together. But Charles Melton was on an episode of Glee already.
[31:26] Jenny Gorelick: He was.
[31:27] Allison Dodge: It wasn't until like...
[31:30] Jenny Gorelick: So my apartment is so clean right now because I have been listening to nonstop Kevin and Jenna's podcast, because I've just been like backlogging a bunch of episodes. And now the apartment is spotless. And so one of the episodes is like once they like move fully to New York and like Sam is like doing a lot of like modeling stuff. And he meets another model. And it's just like a really quick scene with Charles Melton. And I'm like.
[31:57] Allison Dodge: That's so interesting. How have I logged so many hours talking about Glee but didn't know about...
[32:02] Jenny Gorelick: Not clocked him. Huh. Interesting. So crazy.
[32:07] Allison Dodge: Yeah. That must have been during his like pre-Riverdale.
[32:12] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. He was so young, right? Did he start on Riverdale or was he the replacement on Riverdale?
[32:18] Allison Dodge: Oh, this is your world, mama.
[32:20] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, OK. I think he's... I don't know. Well, definitely before Riverdale era.
[32:26] Allison Dodge: OK, Charles. This is what Charles Melton said about it. Charles Melton talked about it.
[32:29] Jenny Gorelick: Yes.
[32:31] Allison Dodge: This was my first thing he said. It was so exciting. Melton recalled that his character, Gavin, was a model in season five, episode 14, New New York. I'm 43 minutes in or something for 42 seconds, he said. So don't blink your eyes or take a bathroom break. You might miss me.
[32:48] Jenny Gorelick: Wow.
[32:49] Allison Dodge: And then Bustle magazine checks him and they say, actually, he's in 34 minutes into the episode available on Hulu in the last and the scene lasts for 20 seconds, even less.
[32:59] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, my God. Humble him.
[33:04] Allison Dodge: Yeah, that's good. But Charles Melton really wasn't on my radar until May, December.
[33:10] Jenny Gorelick: That was last year.
[33:12] Allison Dodge: Oh, May, December is a movie.
[33:14] Jenny Gorelick: Not around May, December.
[33:22] Allison Dodge: I was a fan on Riverdale. He was really hot on Riverdale and he hooks up with Veronica. And that's a big deal to me. I love that guy.
[33:30] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. Well, anything else we need to...
[33:33] Allison Dodge: I have a few just like really quick notes that I have to share about listening back to the premiere episode of Gleek of the Week. The top note is so scary.
[33:44] Jenny Gorelick: So scary.
[33:46] Allison Dodge: You survived it.
[33:47] Jenny Gorelick: You survived it.
[33:48] Allison Dodge: I did survive. I can hear that. I remember I think I told you, Allison, like as I was editing, I probably did like so many different versions of the episode and I just like cut that baby up so much and I could hear the cuts while I was listening today.
[34:04] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, interesting.
[34:06] Allison Dodge: And I don't know. But I love, Jenny, that you had Glee Wiki open during the recording. I thought that was that was a plus. I don't know if like any other guests are doing that, but.
[34:18] Jenny Gorelick: Everyone just tap their pussy up.
[34:20] Allison Dodge: They're glitzy.
[34:21] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. Right. Tap that glitzy up.
[34:25] Allison Dodge: Name the episode, tap that glitzy up.
[34:27] Jenny Gorelick: Okay, actually, I thought this was crazy. And I think this is kind of another runner for title of this app. Allison, you said Glancel and Gretel at one point because you were like Glancel me. You're like Glancel and Gretel. And I thought that was so good.
[34:51] Allison Dodge: How random.
[34:53] Jenny Gorelick: That's so funny. My head space four years ago. Just like who was I as a person? I had like a such a different vocal cadence.
[35:03] Allison Dodge: Really? You think you sound different?
[35:06] Jenny Gorelick: I just like felt like I was like really like doing like a valley girl sort of thing.
[35:12] Allison Dodge: Yeah.
[35:12] Jenny Gorelick: And I was like, why am I talking like that?
[35:14] Allison Dodge: I didn't hear that. I thought I sounded very youthful, but I think I still sound very youthful.
[35:18] Jenny Gorelick: Oh, yeah, I would agree.
[35:19] Allison Dodge: And the last. Oh, two last things. We talk, Allison and I about so much about like finding the best song on Glee, but also finding the worst song on Glee, which we don't do here.
[35:34] Jenny Gorelick: We don't.
[35:34] Allison Dodge: You could.
[35:37] Jenny Gorelick: You could do the evil Glackett.
[35:40] Allison Dodge: The dark Glackett has been talked about like several times. I think we thought about it for like bonus episodes. Yeah, like having the songs that are left and being like, hey, let's yeah, from this. You could look at the ones that got out first and then put them against each other.
[36:00] Allison Dodge: Yeah, it would be to tie this. Right. We never pursued it because it was just a lot of work. Yeah, yeah. And it was just not in the cards for us. But never say never. I mean, if you need more content, once you're done with the final Glackett, maybe you go to the bad ones, maybe. But I mean, it just doesn't sound as fun to listen to all the bad songs.
[36:25] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, it's like, oh. And to be like, like, so like, I don't know if it's just like so much like criticism and it's just like everything is just like, hey, let's really tear this shit apart.
[36:36] Allison Dodge: Yeah, I'm gonna make this entire podcast about being mad.
[36:40] Jenny Gorelick: This song fucking sucks, but this song fucking sucks more.
[36:44] Allison Dodge: Yeah. I hate this.
[36:48] Jenny Gorelick: And then the last thing is, Jenny, your WAP mention at the very end of the episode really like took me back in time.
[36:56] Allison Dodge: WAP is not a song that I have even thought about for like maybe the past three years.
[37:03] Jenny Gorelick: Oh my God. Right?
[37:05] Allison Dodge: And people brought that up frequently.
[37:07] Jenny Gorelick: Yes, yeah. At the very beginning. They're like, oh, what would they sing on Glee? Oh, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP.
[37:13] Allison Dodge: WAP is not the test of time. That was a big deal when they did it, though, at the time.
[37:18] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, that was. Yeah.
[37:19] Allison Dodge: Well, when they did what Cardi and Megan, that was like one of the first like music videos of the pandemic. Do you remember that?
[37:26] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah.
[37:28] Allison Dodge: That they were like, hey. That was like the song of the pandemic summer, basically.
[37:32] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah. I remember they like people like outside the White House were singing WAP when Joe Biden got elected. And I was just like, how is this connected at all?
[37:46] Allison Dodge: Actually, that makes complete sense.
[37:50] Jenny Gorelick: There's some horrors in the White House.
[37:52] Allison Dodge: Yeah. There are. Now there is finally.
[37:55] Jenny Gorelick: Now there definitely is.
[38:00] Allison Dodge: Well, for sure. Okay, amazing. That's the that's the end of my scathing critique of the premiere episode. It was a perfect episode.
[38:08] Jenny Gorelick: It was.
[38:09] Allison Dodge: It was great. I'm so curious to know how many people have actually listened to that episode. I'm not going to go ahead and encourage people to listen to it because.
[38:16] Jenny Gorelick: It is the most.
[38:17] Allison Dodge: I know, I personally can't.
[38:18] Jenny Gorelick: Most listened to episodes still.
[38:21] Allison Dodge: It is?
[38:21] Jenny Gorelick: Yeah, because like it's like people like want to like start when they started the show, you know. So Jenny, you have that to your name.
[38:28] Allison Dodge: Okay, I love that.
[38:29] Jenny Gorelick: Wow, that's a big deal.
[38:31] Allison Dodge: Yeah, that'll be my credit.
[38:33] Jenny Gorelick: They're all time.
[38:34] Allison Dodge: Yeah, put it on your episode of the Gleek of the Week podcast.
[38:38] Jenny Gorelick: Right. Before we get into pulling any songs, I just want to announce that Gloysmail is back. I tried calling the number that we did have. I went because I was like wondering, I was like, wait, do people just like not call anymore? It went straight to doot doot doot. Like it's not an active number anymore. So I needed to get a new number. That number is and it will be in the show notes of this episode. The updated number 347-719-1160.
[39:09] Allison Dodge: If you say that again, this is your emergency contact. 347-719-1160.
[39:14] Jenny Gorelick: Because I do, I do just have random points during the day where I'm just like, I want to send Andrew this voice message, but I just don't I don't want to put it on him at a random point during the day. Yeah, and it's Gleek related. So sometimes I just I want to call.
[39:38] Andrew: We'll be calling this this I love that. Yeah, so, um, and then the final thing is, this is maybe the most insane thing that has happened in the past four years of this podcast. But Glistener Elijah listened back to every single episode of this podcast. And not to discredit Amelia and all the work that she's doing with like, keeping track of the glacket and everything. Elijah went above and beyond that he like, tracked who what times like I voted for the song or like who voted for what in each competition. And that must have taken days of your life. Yeah. So that will be in the, um, the beacon. What is that? Is that beacon? Yeah, yeah. Um, check that out. It's, it's a real fun read. Wow, Elijah. I want to like pull that up right now. Wait, I can put it in the I can share it with you in the chat. Yeah, can you? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Elijah, you're glubsest. You're glubsest. Yeah. Um, here we go.
[40:54] Andrew: Do do do. Because that's awesome. That's a great data collecting. Real crazy data collecting. Because like, there's so many people like that will come on and be like, Andrew, I'm mad at you that you didn't let this song go through. And I'm like, um, actually, I was the one person that voted for that song. And you're barking up the wrong tree. This is very beautifully made. Wow. Wow, this is stunning. Oh my god, with tabs round one. I know. Elijah, if you ever need Wow, I don't know letter of recommendation. You know where to find me. Holy shit. So okay, well, I'll be referring to that in this episode and whatever future episodes I'm part of. Oh, yeah. Um, okay. Are we ready for song number one? Any final words before we get into round three proper? Um, I'm hoping that we get the one artolo tonight to show that magic is still real. The magic is real. You're, you're big glirch. You're big quench.
[41:55] Jenny: He just said you're glirch. Glirch, glirch store active. Um, not the artolo. But a blow low. Wow.
[42:09] Andrew: Made it this far. That's such a fun. Blaine Blaine's eating good. He's fine. He's Yeah, but I am excited to see I would think Blaine would be in a lot. I would think Naya Rivera would have some of the she's she surely does. Okay, good. Audio medium. We're looking at it. We're in the we're in Dalton. Are we ready to watch? Bills, bills, bills. It really is bills, bills, bills. Yeah, it is.
[43:01] ♪ Musical number: "Bills, Bills, Bills" — performed by The Warblers ♪
[45:06] Andrew: That was good. That's a good way to get right back in. How does this set the stage for round three? Do we feel gorgeous? Yeah, beautiful. I love the warblers. Three bills. Three bills. This season round three. I love the warblers every time I love their uniforms. They're so freaking cute. Every time they sing I would have such a crush love them. And then I just think Blaine doing you know, a female solo. I yearn for that. I love that. That's so fun. That's my glee bread and butter.
[45:42] Jenny: That's what how I feel. I'm just like, this is this is where I live. Andrew, I'm gonna give you an assignment. And yeah, you're gonna hate me. But there's a meme going around. That's like, I don't live here. But I know my way around. And I need if it doesn't exist already. The warblers like this room, that room, I need that room and then I need the text over it. It's like, as much as I really can say that this is a really great song, really fun arrangement, John Hall, even though you know, you didn't actually do the thing. You did the thing and it's fine. Um, I'm still thinking about the fact that it killed what doesn't kill you makes you stronger song that I know Allison Dodge doesn't really care for all that much still to this day. Boo. I really like that. That's in the past, Andrew, you can't let killed in the past. In the future, you can't dwell. No, I can. Okay.

Good song. Great song. I love that song. Although Oh, the Glee Wiki Blaine, it says that Darren Chris apologized to Beyonce because he doesn't think he did her justice. And I'm like, Hey, you're being hard on yourself. They can coexist. Yeah, yeah. We're doing different things.

Um, season one. Oh, baby. Oh, baby. Oh, baby. Season one. Here. I would be surprised if you get it from this first frame. Oh, but maybe you will. Maybe you will. I'm shocked. I got the other one.
