[0:00] Andrew McGuire: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Andrew McGuire: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Andrew McGuire: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Andrew McGuire: Gleek of the Week. Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek. Gleek of the Week.

[0:35] Andrew McGuire: Hello, everybody. This is your host of Gleek of the Week Podcast, The Glee Podcast, Andrew McGuire. That's me. And I do have some housekeeping items just like last episode to tend to. So first of all, if you are a patron of this podcast, you may have noticed, hey, last week's early released ad-free episode was not only early released and ad-free, but it was also video. And so we are, I don't know if I'm like fully committing to each episode being like a fully released video, but I feel I can add that to my plate. It wasn't that much across the bear, but if I do change my mind, please don't be mad at me. But you know, the video of last week and hopefully this week will be released on Patreon. So yeah, go over there and support me because it's Pride Month and end of sentence.

[1:30] Andrew McGuire: All right. And then also, oh, also there's an upcoming live episode where you can feasibly be one of the two lucky Gleeks that are pulled out into the world and onto the audio stream and effectively change the course of the Glackett. So keep an eye out for that. And also one last thing, if you don't mind, Allison Dodge and I, heard of her? We just recorded a podcast last week that will be out by the time that you listen to this with beautiful prior Gleek of the Week K. It's called The Swackett. And it's kind of like what you would assume it is with a it's borrowing this Brackett idea and applying it with Taylor Swift songs.

[2:25] Andrew McGuire: And so it was very, very fun. Allison and I had a good time and you should absolutely stream. Now on to the episode proper. We are joined by. OK, I'll say it, Claudia.

[2:41] Claudia: Oh, reveal. Reveal. What's going on? Hey, how are you?

[2:49] Andrew McGuire: Being really normal.

[2:55] Claudia: Yeah, I know that about you.

[2:58] Andrew McGuire: And I think that our other guest this week, our other Gleek this week is also being normal, I think.

[3:00] Karis: I'm known for being normal.

[3:09] Andrew McGuire: Perfect. This is all about being normal. OK, so Karis, you have been on a live stream episode before with and I just found out before recording that I was reminded, I suppose, that it was on a Claudia live stream episode. And that's why we're doing this.

[3:21] Claudia: That's right.

[3:29] Andrew McGuire: Oh yeah. We were a part of the really talked about competition between Happy and Last Christmas. Don't you all remember that one?

[3:35] Karis: It keeps me up at night, really. So memorable.

[3:38] Andrew McGuire: My producers did not give me this information beforehand. So I'm just like riffing off the cuff. Wait. OK. And so last Christmas obviously went through last Christmas, still in the cup. Feasibly, we can get last Christmas again.

[3:54] Karis: Could be.

[3:58] Andrew McGuire: And if I remember something about Karis, you're like a Christmas fiend, I believe are the words.

[4:05] Karis: Oh yeah. I love Christmas. That's exactly the words I used.

[4:11] Andrew McGuire: And also in the last episode, one of the very few Christmas songs went home. How are we feeling? What song was it?

[4:15] Karis: Baby, It's Cold Outside.

[4:17] Andrew McGuire: Oh, my gosh, you're so right. Oh, actually. Well, I mean, not to not to get too ahead of myself. That was one of my grievances. Not because I really like that song a lot. I just because that was against Teenage Dream Season 4 version. I just actively dislike that song.

[4:34] Karis: Oh man. Oh, let's get into it. Wait, what do you what do you not like about Teenage Dream Season 4?

[4:40] Andrew McGuire: I'm in the group of people who feel cringe. I'm just like putting myself in that bar and seeing a teenager weeping. Oh, I would hate.

[4:54] Karis: It's powerful. It's powerful. It's kind of giving the and I feel so conflicted about this. The little girl who is singing Moana on the flight.

[5:04] Andrew McGuire: I've never seen that. Do you know about this?

[5:08] Karis: Oh yeah. I don't know.

[5:10] Andrew McGuire: Okay, so Claudia, to fill you in, there was a flight from Orlando that was delayed.

[5:16] Claudia: Of course it was.

[5:19] Andrew McGuire: And a little girl I know. Okay, so I feel really again, I feel so conflicted about this because it's like a 12 year old girl that I suppose asked the flight attendant, like, hey, I would like to pass the time by singing to all the passengers on board that are waiting to take off and sings the entirety of How Far I'll Go.

[5:42] Karis: Oh, beautiful.

[5:46] Andrew McGuire: I would hate it, but it's still beautiful.

[5:49] Karis: I love it.

[5:53] Andrew McGuire: Yeah. But then I was like, I initially watched it. Of course, I was like, okay, I hate this. But then I thought about it. And I was like, okay, maybe this will also be lost on you. But you know, Big Justice and like the Rizzler. Are you familiar with these two characters?

[6:02] Karis: I know. I know of the Rizzler. It's a kid. And yeah, yeah.

[6:06] Andrew McGuire: I'm like, we like the Rizzler. Is Big Justice his brother?

[6:09] Karis: No, that was a big reveal earlier this year that they are not related.

[6:15] Andrew McGuire: And so, but I feel as though connecting these two stories, Big Justice and the Rizzler, kind of get away with murder.

[6:22] Karis: Okay.

[6:22] Andrew McGuire: And they just like they just like go out and do whatever they want. And we praise them for it. And I think it's, I don't know, not to be not to be like, feminist on main, but like, I think maybe it's maybe it has to do with gender.

[6:31] Karis: Maybe it's time to stand up.

[6:34] Andrew McGuire: Maybe it is.

[6:38] Karis: Also, I'm really liking you like trying to get that Gen Z audience. Or is that Gen Z?

[6:43] Claudia: I'm in Gen Z and I don't know much about the Rizzler. I've aged like 20 years.

[6:47] Karis: Rizzler sounds like a Gen Z word to me.

[6:50] Andrew McGuire: Definitely.

[6:50] Andrew McGuire: Hey, Karis, do you have no context for the Rizzler?

[6:53] Karis: No.

[6:53] Andrew McGuire: You don't know who the Rizzler is.

[6:58] Karis: He does weird stuff, I guess.

[7:00] Andrew McGuire: Yeah, I'm gonna look up the Rizzler.

[7:02] Karis: And then Big Justice.

[7:05] Andrew McGuire: And his father, AJ, they go to Costco. They're the Costco guys. Do you not know about this?

[7:10] Karis: No, not familiar.

[7:12] Andrew McGuire: Okay, well, maybe I'm just too chronically online.

[7:16] Karis: This means nothing to me.

[7:18] Andrew McGuire: You know what? Surprise. You're chronically online.

[7:20] Karis: I feel like one of the podcasts I listened to has talked about them before.

[7:25] Andrew McGuire: One of them.

[7:26] Karis: It's gotta be you.

[7:27] Andrew McGuire: I was not paying attention.

[7:31] Karis: Couldn't have been you because I only always pay attention.

[7:35] Andrew McGuire: I don't think that I've been you.

[7:37] Karis: Couldn't even remember the Christmas song that got said.

[7:40] Andrew McGuire: I know. I wasn't gonna bring it up. I wasn't gonna bring it up.

[7:43] Karis: I did write it down.

[7:45] Andrew McGuire: Listen, I have to confess, I did not make it to the second song of the second competition. So I need that.

[7:50] Karis: Oh, that's like a spoiler.

[7:54] Andrew McGuire: Wait a minute. Wait, so you left off last week's episode, of course. The second competition and final competition was I Feel Pretty, I'm Pretty versus you don't even know what it's against.

[8:04] Karis: Correct. I really tried.

[8:06] Andrew McGuire: I Feel Pretty, I'm Pretty could effectively be dead right now. And you're just on this damn podcast just like talking over its early grave.

[8:13] Karis: I mean, I feel pretty good for just kind of knowing. I don't know, knowing.

[8:20] Andrew McGuire: I heard the whole discourse about I Feel Pretty, I'm Pretty. And then I left work.

[8:24] Karis: And then you're like, I heard enough.

[8:25] Andrew McGuire: I heard enough. Um, it was against the only Michael Lowe.

[8:30] Karis: Oh, sad.

[8:32] Andrew McGuire: I know.

[8:34] Karis: Great one.

[8:37] Andrew McGuire: Yeah.

[8:37] Karis: That makes me want to bring up my important West Side Story story that I was texting you about last week.

[8:43] Andrew McGuire: Yeah, my West Side Story story.

[8:45] Karis: Oh, please, please, please, please.

[8:46] Andrew McGuire: This is something really important that happened to me. I was on the subway coming home from work. And I was in a pretty bad mood. And I don't know why, but that's who I just often am.

[8:56] Karis: And there are these kids who are probably like 14 or 15.

[8:59] Andrew McGuire: These two, like, bros.

[9:01] Karis: Okay, like, very boy. Very boy boys.

[9:04] Andrew McGuire: And one of them says, Nah, I only use Snapchat to text baddies and my one friend.

[9:14] Karis: And the other one was like, Yeah, I don't really use Snapchat that much, dog.

[9:19] Andrew McGuire: Like talking very, like, bro-y 15 year old, as you might expect. People are really waiting for the West Side Story of it all. They take about one beat, and then they both at the same time start singing, When you're a dead man.

[9:30] Karis: And I was like, what is going on here?

[9:35] Andrew McGuire: That's crazy.

[9:37] Karis: I've never, I've just, I don't know, I guess I'd be stereotyping, like, straight boys.

[9:44] Andrew McGuire: Wait.

[9:44] Karis: Oh, what?

[9:45] Andrew McGuire: Okay, well, are you?

[9:47] Karis: The story is that they kept talking about, like, the auditions for West Side Story, and all I could think of was Glee.

[9:54] Andrew McGuire: And also just the fact that, like, these boys who look like my brother, who is decisively not into theater, like hearing them speak and sing, they started just like spontaneously bursting into When You're a Jet and Maria, like just throughout our train ride.

[10:10] Karis: No shame, no self-awareness at all. It was incredible.

[10:14] Andrew McGuire: One of them was, like, talking smack about one of their classmates being like, no, there's no way he's gonna get riffed.

[10:20] Karis: The other one's like, no, he's got some perfect moves.

[10:23] Andrew McGuire: It was just absolutely insane. And I put the pieces together that I think they went to the Performing Arts High School that Timothee Chalamet went to, because they started talking about, like, wanting to have the same trajectory as Timmy.

[10:34] Karis: They cited him as the great actor of all time.

[10:38] Andrew McGuire: That's what Timmy wants to be.

[10:41] Karis: Yeah, it is.

[10:42] Andrew McGuire: What did he say when he got the grade?

[10:44] Karis: Yeah, I don't know.

[10:45] Andrew McGuire: Yeah, he wants to be one of the greats.

[10:46] Karis: Yes, they do.

[10:52] Andrew McGuire: It was just incredible. It was the most, like, kind of the most New York thing I've ever experienced.

[10:58] Karis: It's beautiful, really.

[10:59] Andrew McGuire: Similar to that in, you know, not stereotyping the people you come- I, the other day was, this was like 8:30 a.m. walking through a park, and this guy had his, like, stereo blasting.

[11:18] Karis: And when you think, you know, guy sitting in a park stereo blasting,

[11:24] Andrew McGuire: you would never-

[11:25] Karis: What was he blasting?

[11:25] Andrew McGuire: When you're a jet?

[11:26] Karis: I was walking-

[11:26] Andrew McGuire: When you're a jet.

[11:27] Karis: He was blasting, when you're Alyssa Green from The Prom.

[11:31] Andrew McGuire: I don't know what that means.

[11:34] Karis: Wait, that's the Ariana DeBose song?

[11:35] Andrew McGuire: Yeah.

[11:36] Karis: Yeah.

[11:37] Andrew McGuire: It was crazy.

[11:38] Karis: Which connected West Side Story.

[11:40] Andrew McGuire: West Side Story!

[11:41] Karis: There we go.

[11:42] Andrew McGuire: Yeah.

[11:43] Karis: I was, like, walking past, and I went, that's not what I'm hearing.

[11:48] Andrew McGuire: That's what I'm hearing.

[11:50] Karis: And I pointed to him, and I said, yes, The Prom.

[11:53] Andrew McGuire: Okay.

[11:53] Karis: It was great.

[11:53] Andrew McGuire: And how did he respond?

[11:56] Karis: Oh, yeah.

[11:57] Andrew McGuire: Oh, he was just like, oh, yeah.

[11:59] Karis: It was a beautiful moment between two people.

[12:02] Andrew McGuire: That's so awesome.

[12:03] Karis: That's that movie with, like, every famous person ever, but it's, like, really bad.

[12:07] Andrew McGuire: Yes.

[12:08] Karis: Ryan Murphy directed it.

[12:09] Andrew McGuire: Ah, yes, I know him.

[12:12] Karis: Oh yeah.

[12:15] Andrew McGuire: It was okay to me.

[12:17] Karis: It was fine.

[12:18] Andrew McGuire: I don't think I- well, I never want to rewatch it, so I guess that says enough.

[12:22] Karis: I feel like it's a fun movie.

[12:24] Andrew McGuire: And yeah, I feel like Fine is a great description of it.

[12:30] Karis: James Corden playing a gay man is very upsetting.

[12:34] Andrew McGuire: The way that he cries as a gay man is- he goes like this.

[12:41] Karis: Oh, no.

[12:44] Andrew McGuire: A Meryl Streep song?

[12:45] Karis: Well, that was my only, like, time ever- I've never seen the stage show or anything.

[12:51] Andrew McGuire: And so- wait, what did you want to say?

[12:54] Karis: You raised your hand, Paris.

[12:56] Andrew McGuire: You said the Meryl Streep song.

[12:58] Karis: I assume you mean, um, It's Not About Me.

[13:03] Andrew McGuire: It's Not About Me, yes.

[13:04] Karis: So do you remember a while ago, Jenna and Kevin had the winners of a karaoke contest on their podcast?

[13:11] Andrew McGuire: Oh, girl, do I remember this?

[13:14] Karis: Yes.

[13:15] Andrew McGuire: I was a part of this karaoke competition, and I got very close.

[13:21] Karis: For over 40 days, I was a part of this contest.

[13:25] Andrew McGuire: It's mostly just, like, people vote for you, and then the top 12- 12, 8 get to perform.

[13:33] Karis: I got the- one minute before the semifinals were over, I was in first place in my group, and then somebody added a bunch of money to their pot.

[13:44] Andrew McGuire: And beat me out, so I didn't get to go to the finals.

[13:48] Karis: But, um, I was going to sing that song.

[13:52] Andrew McGuire: I had been preparing it for a very long time.

[13:57] Karis: And I'm convinced that had I been able to sing, because I didn't get to sing, I would have won.

[14:02] Andrew McGuire: Because I chose that song specifically for Kevin and Jenna, who were the judges.

[14:09] Karis: It's High Camp, Ryan Murphy Cinematic Universe.

[14:13] Andrew McGuire: The name Emma, Jenna's firstborn child, is in the song a bunch.

[14:17] Karis: You were- a lot of bases were covered.

[14:19] Andrew McGuire: Yeah.

[14:20] Karis: Exactly.

[14:29] Andrew McGuire: I've always said that.

[15:06] Charis: They surely did. I'm sure they did not, but she told them.

[15:10] Claudia: No, they did. That was a canonic. That was a canonic event. Wait, what did I want to say? Oh, the people that did win, one of them, no shade, was like TikTok semi-famous?

[15:24] Charis: Well, that's the thing. The first, most of it, terrible way to hold a karaoke competition, great way to hold a fundraiser. I was getting these targeted ads, and I kept, I was like, it was the weirdest thing. Thank you so much. We're finally having the real discussions on this podcast. I was getting these targeted ads.

[15:43] Claudia: I'm glad you brought it up. Kevin and Jenna are hosting a karaoke competition that even them, even Kevin and Jenna haven't posted about. And I'm like, surely this is like a pyramid scheme or something. I remember this too. I don't click on ads ever on Instagram. And for some reason, I went, yeah, I'm going to be a part of this. I'm going to do it. I don't know what it was, but I'm going to make history. Every single day for 41 days, to remind my people to vote for me, I photoshopped myself into a photo of Kevin and Jenna.

[16:19] Charis: Important. Different one?

[16:21] Claudia: Wait, can we? Oh, of course, we still have this photo.

[16:25] Charis: No, it's different. 41 photos.

[16:27] Claudia: 41 photos. 41 photos.

[16:29] Charis: You're incredible. I am. I am. I posted it on Twitter, and Kevin did retweet it. Thank God. Instagram increased their limit for number of photos that can be posted. To 41, exactly.

[16:44] Claudia: Yeah, that's right. I did make a little video, so I can send that to you for the carousel.

[16:50] Charis: The carousel. Perfect.

[16:55] Claudia: You said it. That's right.

[16:58] Charis: Carousel. Yeah.

[16:59] Claudia: I'm so sorry you were robbed.

[17:03] Charis: Me too. Thank you so much. That's not right. I don't know what to say.

[17:06] Claudia: Every single person in my life, including the strangers who come through my lane at Target, would be like, how's that karaoke thing going? Damn.

[17:16] Charis: That is so true. Literally yesterday, one of the people who come through my Target asked, any new karaoke stuff going on?

[17:26] Claudia: Wait, so Karis, are you telling your customers, and it's okay if you are doing this, are you telling your customers about a karaoke contest that you're in unprompted?

[17:33] Charis: Well, not now, but a year ago.

[17:40] Claudia: When it was happening. A year ago, yes, I was.

[17:42] Charis: I had a name tag that didn't say Karis. It said, ask me about my karaoke thing.

[17:46] Claudia: Oh, that's amazing. That's awesome.

[17:50] Charis: Yeah. Oh, my God.

[17:52] Claudia: If I was your customer. Oh, my God.

[17:54] Charis: You're right. I wish I was.

[17:55] Claudia: I wish you were. I would have loved that.

[17:57] Charis: I wish I was. I wish I was.

[17:59] Claudia: I would have. I love talking to strangers.

[18:01] Charis: Oh, yeah. I really do.

[18:04] Claudia: That's what everybody says about me. Okay.

[18:07] Charis: Well, talking about talking to strangers, do you want to talk about grievances?

[18:13] Claudia: Yeah.

[18:18] Charis: Really good segue. I'm just going to do my grievances from round three.

[18:25] Claudia: I already did the baby, it's cold outside teenage dream.

[18:30] Charis: Okay, this one's not a grievance. I don't disagree, but I just like to send my love to Loveshack. It lost to landslide.

[18:40] Claudia: In a landslide.

[18:40] Charis: Yeah, in a landslide. But Loveshack is a song that I forget I love until it comes on and I'm like, another one for the audio.

[18:50] Claudia: It definitely does have that effect.

[18:51] Charis: Yeah, I agree with that. I'm like, oh, Loveshack, I could do without. But then I watch it and I'm like, whoa. This is amazing. This is thrilling. There's so much here. There's a lot here.

[19:01] Claudia: Yeah.

[19:02] Charis: I feel like these next two are gonna ruffle some feathers.

[19:09] Claudia: Oh, man.

[19:11] Charis: I think I would have voted for Time Warp over maybe this time.

[19:16] Claudia: Okay, so maybe this Time Warp is what you're saying?

[19:18] Charis: Maybe this Time Warp. That's right.

[19:22] Claudia: Wait, wait, wait. Sell me on voting for Time Warp over maybe this time.

[19:28] Charis: Um, number one, Diana's best song. She sounds so good. Diana and Finn. Corey sounds so good. It is so much fun. It's probably my fourth most played Glee song.

[19:47] Claudia: Whoa, whoa.

[19:47] Charis: Year round. Year round.

[19:50] Claudia: I don't think that Time Warp is exclusive. Are you saying that? Are you suggesting that Time Warp is exclusive to the Halloween season?

[19:58] Charis: Yeah, sort of. But I feel like-

[20:01] Claudia: Asking the real question.

[20:02] Charis: Yeah. It is so good. Every single person is giving it their all. It's from, I mean, I probably watch Rocky Horror, the Glee show. That's one of my most viewed episodes, just because it's the episode after duets, which is my favorite episode.

[20:24] Claudia: Yeah.

[20:25] Charis: So I'll watch duets and go, well, I might as well keep watching.

[20:29] Claudia: Why am I, why do I feel like Rocky Horror is returning to Broadway? Where'd I hear that? Did I, did I hear rumors of this?

[20:37] Charis: I haven't heard this, but I would be thrilled.

[20:40] Claudia: I feel like I heard that it was going to be like Circle in the Square.

[20:43] Charis: Oh, wait.

[20:45] Claudia: That's the theater right next to Wicked.

[20:47] Charis: No, Roundabout Theater Company?

[20:49] Claudia: Yeah, the Roundabout. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[20:51] Charis: Wait, what? That's insane.

[20:51] Claudia: I don't know. Maybe I'm spreading false information.

[20:53] Charis: It seems to be true.

[20:55] Claudia: Wait, are you looking this up?

[20:56] Charis: Yeah.

[20:57] Claudia: Oh, my gosh. This is thrilling.

[21:00] Charis: Roundabout Theater Company has announced that Rocky Horror will be part of its 2025-2026 Broadway season. It will be staged at Studio 54.

[21:08] Claudia: All right.

[21:10] Charis: There's, okay. I didn't know that was a theater.

[21:13] Claudia: Well, we got to get out of the group chat.

[21:15] Charis: Staged by O'Mary.

[21:16] Claudia: Thrilling.

[21:19] Charis: Staged by who? Who now?

[21:20] Claudia: O'Mary director Sam Pinkleton.

[21:23] Charis: Okay, good hands.

[21:27] Claudia: Wow, that's insane. That's really exciting.

[21:29] Charis: I hope Diana is cast.

[21:31] Claudia: I think she will. She loves having a job.

[21:33] Charis: She loves working.

[21:36] Claudia: No one wants to work these days except for that girl.

[21:38] Charis: That's true.

[21:39] Claudia: For real.

[21:40] Charis: And I've heard that.

[21:41] Claudia: Right.

[21:42] Charis: Karis, what else is on your grievance list?

[21:46] Charis: Okay, I'm really scared to say this one.

[21:49] Claudia: The leaks are going to come at me.

[21:51] Charis: I would have voted for Valerie over the Adele mashup.

[21:55] Claudia: Okay, no.

[21:56] Charis: It's fair.

[21:57] Claudia: That's bad.

[21:58] Charis: Okay, Ian Allred, stop listening. I just think that there is, I think the transition to the verse of Someone Like You is clunky. And because the song itself is so amazing, people ignore it.

[22:11] Claudia: Uh-huh.

[22:19] Charis: Like, it's the best, I mean, best vocalist, most important. Like, the story is so important. It's so, it's so good. And like, honestly, like, Connor convinced me when he was talking about it. But it, it is amazing. And I will never say it's not amazing.

[22:45] Claudia: Mm hmm.

[22:45] Charis: But that transition to the I've heard makes me go, you know, I gotta listen back.

[22:52] Claudia: I know what you mean.

[22:54] Charis: I do know what you mean.

[22:55] Claudia: Yeah.

[22:56] Charis: But I don't know if it, I don't know if it feels clunky to me.

[23:01] Claudia: It's just noticeable, I think.

[23:03] Charis: Like, okay, yeah, noticeable. Like, I love when, like, when they start blending together. And Naya starts doing the kind of, like, screaming.

[23:12] Claudia: Yeah.

[23:13] Charis: Don't forget me!

[23:15] Claudia: So good.

[23:17] Charis: So good. Um, that's like a lot smoother. And that is less so.

[23:22] Claudia: So I hear you.

[23:24] Charis: Yeah. I don't know that it's, like, upsetting when I hear it as much.

[23:27] Claudia: Yeah.

[23:28] Charis: It's not upsetting. It just feels like it could be addressed and nobody ever does.

[23:35] Claudia: Mm.

[23:36] Charis: Connor, thank you for speaking on it. Really, really brave of you. We have a lot of Gleeks that listen to this podcast. And, um, and I don't know. That might ruffle some feathers. But I love that you're standing on business right now.

[23:48] Claudia: Most definitely.

[23:49] Charis: Thank you so much. And Valerie, I mean, who doesn't? I don't have to say why Valerie is amazing. Everybody knows why it's amazing. But also the Brittany and Mike, I feel like that, that's maybe one of my favorite dance solos of the entire show.

[24:04] Claudia: If not the favorite dance solo of the entire show.

[24:06] Charis: That's a really great point. I can't think of a better, uh, dance solo.

[24:10] Claudia: Right.

[24:15] Charis: In the damn show.

[24:16] Claudia: Right.

[24:17] Charis: I mean.

[24:17] Claudia: What do you call a dance solo?

[24:19] Charis: I guess a dance duet.

[24:20] Claudia: Like a dance break.

[24:21] Charis: Like, wait, wait, wait. I love this answer.

[24:24] Claudia: Now suddenly I can't think of a solo.

[24:25] Charis: Yeah, I'm like, I don't know what that is.

[24:27] Claudia: I know what you mean. Like, where, like, that is a key part of the number where it's, it's not just, like, everybody's doing synchronized moves. It's like, we're looking at these guys and they're having a night. Um, but yeah, I don't know if I can think of another one.

[24:40] Charis: Yeah, but it's really great.

[24:42] Claudia: It's great.

[24:43] Charis: And I mean, I'm thinking about the, um, Britney being flipped over in heels on Mike Chang's back and then landing and then finishing the song. I'm thinking about that.

[24:53] Claudia: Definitely.

[24:55] Charis: For sure.

[24:55] Claudia: All the time.

[24:56] Charis: Fine.

[24:57] Claudia: Definitely.

[24:57] Charis: Yeah.

[24:58] Claudia: Nevermind.

[24:59] Charis: Yeah.

[25:00] Claudia: Definitely thinking about that.

[25:01] Charis: Yes.

[25:01] Charis: Yeah. Um, and do we have any further grievances to list at this very moment?

[25:02] Claudia: Heard.

[25:08] Charis: I think that's all my grievances. That was, that was everything that I maybe would have voted differently in this round.

[25:14] Claudia: Karis, I want to bring attention to the fact this beautiful document that you, you, you wrote.

[25:22] Charis: It was a 15 page?

[25:26] Karis: Well, 16, 15 plus a little bit at the end.

[25:30] Charis: Okay. Okay.

[25:31] Karis: 15 plus a paragraph.

[25:32] Charis: Do not get a star.

[25:33] Karis: Wait, what did you say?

[25:34] Charis: And a gold star at the end.

[25:35] Karis: Oh, okay. You get rewarded.

[25:38] Charis: I said, don't get it twisted.

[25:40] Karis: Don't get it twisted.

[25:40] Charis: It's not 15 pages.

[25:43] Karis: It was, it was a full 16. I'll say that. Um, uh, you, you compared and contrasted.

[25:51] Charis: Yes.

[25:51] Karis: These two beautiful shows. Uh, the hit Fox show Glee ever heard of it? And also the hit Disney plus show High School Musical.

[25:58] Charis: The Musical.

[25:59] Karis: The Series.

[26:01] Charis: I didn't get to read this. I didn't provide my email address and I'm sorry for that.

[26:05] Karis: That's okay. Have you, do you have context for High School Musical?

[26:09] Charis: The Musical?

[26:10] Karis: The Series?

[26:10] Charis: I started it around when it came out, I think. Um, and I definitely did not get past the first season.

[26:20] Karis: I don't think.

[26:21] Charis: Okay.

[26:22] Karis: And I, I roughly have a big understanding of some of the characters and not much more than that.

[26:30] Charis: Great.

[26:30] Karis: I did watch the entire thing. Um, I feel like I was like kind of like half watching a lot of it.

[26:37] Charis: The full transparency.

[26:38] Karis: And that's okay.

[26:41] Charis: I don't know. I just like, this is, I don't know. This might ruffle some feathers. I just like, I feel like it was like one of the shows, one of those shows that like lent itself to half watching.

[26:48] Karis: Yeah.

[26:50] Charis: Yeah, I feel like that's fair. One could say that about the hit Fox show Glee.

[26:56] Karis: Oh, not me. I'm dialed in. I'm locked in.

[26:59] Charis: Um, the musical element makes it like fun to have it on the background. I feel like.

[27:04] Karis: Yeah.

[27:06] Charis: Um, I, but it was interesting to, to see everything that you listen. Karen, that was, it was really, really incredible. And one of the things that I, um, messaged you about, gosh, are you recalling what was the voicemail? I sent you a voice.

[27:22] Karis: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[27:23] Charis: You.

[27:24] Karis: Oh, where is it? Oh, this thing is so freaking long. Um, I was talking about, uh, diversity and how like the writers, uh, the writers being three white men lent to not a lot of diversity within the like actors and character or characters mostly.

[27:48] Charis: We're, we're, we're talking about the hit Fox show. Not.

[27:51] Karis: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[27:55] Charis: We tend to talk about that show a lot here.

[27:57] Karis: Yeah.

[27:58] Charis: Um, this is the, this is the quote that blew Andrew's brain. Interesting to me that the more diverse the actor, the less diverse the character. Yet the less diverse the actor, the more diverse the character. So like Puck, Joe Hart, Kurt Hummel, those are all technically the same category of they're all white men. Um, and they have such a huge range in personality and they are so different. So, so different.

[28:30] Karis: But once characters become diverse, they don't have as much diversity in character trait. And you drew attention to, of course, Mercedes Jones and unique Adams that they're kind of satisfying a similar slot within the show.

[28:49] Charis: Right within the show and within the Glee Club.

[28:52] Karis: Yeah.

[28:53] Charis: Sassy black girl with a little bit of a heart, you know? I, I don't think that like you couldn't have provided three more striking, like I, that was not off the cuff. That was Joe Puck and Kurt. I was all up here. That was that's insane, actually, because that

[29:12] Charis: That's like a really... I mean, that's... I hope Ryan, Ian, and Brad are not listening to this conversation.

[29:18] Claudia: No!

[29:19] Charis: What are y'all gonna say about it?

[29:21] Claudia: Maybe they should.

[29:22] Charis: What do y'all have to say? Yeah.

[29:24] Claudia: It's interesting when you gave that example, or first read that quote, what I was thinking you meant was more like within a character who is like, you know, are kind of indisputable main characters.

[29:40] Charis: If you go like, male lead, female lead, Rachel and Finn, like they have these really fully fledged kind of plot arcs throughout the series.

[29:51] Claudia: Like pretty consistently, like across seasons, versus you get like some of the other characters that are diverse get like kind of a throwaway arc about it.

[30:04] Charis: Or like certain seasons, they don't have as much going on as others. But it's interesting, like your perspective of within a grouping of these different kinds of kind of identities. How you have a lot more going on within these different individuals. I yeah, I've never thought about that.

[30:20] Claudia: Oh, yeah. It's pretty bad.

[30:24] Charis: I love, I love what you pointed out about Mercedes, particularly in season one, that season one, a, she really isn't a character much at all.

[30:35] Claudia: Yeah, she is. She is really boiled down. And when you get to the last, the last nine episodes of season one, she does get a bit more autonomy, but as service to, in a lot of cases, not all of them, but in many cases, to white characters, Quinn, and does she have any Rachel subplots in like the back nine?

[31:02] Charis: But I mean, all I can say, but yeah, but like, yeah, like Quinn, but like, also bringing attention to the fact that we don't even get like, you, you brought attention to the fact that like, um, there was no Quinn, Mercedes, like, church scenes, or like, just like, Jesus, come on, come on. And it's like, and then drawing comparisons to high school musical musical series. One of the things that like, always stood up to me as a major difference from Glee is that like, we get to follow these characters home. And we get to see their their home life, we get to see me a lot of them, their parents and their parents are not huge guest stars that limit their, their screen time.

[31:44] Claudia: And so they're, they're able to also have a bit more autonomy. And I don't, it's, yeah, it's, it's fascinating. But then at the end, I don't mean to call you out right now. Yeah. And you do say that you do like Glee more than High School Musical, the musical, the series.

[32:02] Charis: Yeah, absolutely.

[32:33] Claudia: Yeah. And I think that it like, I brought this up before that it's like, if Glee was like, a fully perfect show that we wouldn't really have much to talk about, like, the fact that it is imperfect lends itself to so much conversation.

[32:47] Charis: Exactly. I've thought about starting a podcast, maybe on Schmigadoon. Maybe on Girls 5 Eva, two of my other favorite shows.

[33:00] Claudia: I love Girls 5 Eva.

[33:01] Charis: Thank you so much. It's so freaking good.

[33:04] Claudia: It's so good.

[33:05] Charis: I need to give it another chance.

[33:07] Claudia: I feel like they are so perfect and not bad enough. You know, like, will there be good conversation that can come out of it because they're just not bad?

[33:20] Charis: Right.

[33:22] Claudia: I feel like Girls 5 Eva certainly could get it because that's crazy.

[33:27] Charis: It's more than like, just the fact that it has stood the test of time this far out.

[33:31] Claudia: Yeah.

[33:32] Charis: Like crazy. I feel like the amount of times that you have mentioned this on the podcast, Andrew, being 10 years since it's ended, that like, it's very hard for my brain to compute.

[33:46] Claudia: And it's just ridiculous how many, it's also, it's like, not just, you know, it's not just us. It's not just people that like, you know, that you bring on the podcast, people that listen to it. I literally had a real life exchange with a person I met at my friend's birthday party yesterday. And of course, I somehow brought up Glee. I don't really know how. And we like sat down in a corner of this party and just started talking Glee in like very, you know, nuanced and personal ways. This person I met like 30 minutes before, because there is just so much there.

[34:20] Charis: And it's not only that it's, you know, imperfect and problematic, but it just does so much. And I feel like that's part of the best parts of the show, and sometimes the most chaotic.

[34:31] Claudia: Yeah.

[34:32] Charis: There's just always something to pick apart, which is what makes it special.

[34:37] Claudia: Even people that never even like watch the show are like still are talking about it.

[34:41] Charis: It's true.

[34:42] Claudia: Because they want to be part of the conversation.

[34:43] Charis: I had that at this damn birthday party.

[34:46] Claudia: Oh, yeah, Leigh and Michelle can't read.

[34:49] Charis: Oh, my God.

[34:50] Claudia: Okay.

[34:51] Charis: It's hard to like gauge with people like in the wild, like my friend Ben, he always does this to me that like he wants to like put me in conversations with like, oh, like a girl that he's like on a date with, like he's been like seeing or whatever, like be like, oh, talk to Andrew, he likes Glee. And I'm like, I can't actually gauge how much you actually know about Glee.

[35:07] Claudia: So I don't even want to even engage at all.

[35:15] Charis: You know?

[35:16] Claudia: Yeah.

[35:18] Charis: It gets pathological.

[35:19] Claudia: Yeah.

[35:20] Charis: It really does.

[35:21] Claudia: And there's a difference between a casual Glee watcher, a Glee fan and a Gleek, you know?

[35:27] Charis: Oh, man.

[35:28] Claudia: Oh.

[35:29] Charis: Yes.

[35:30] Claudia: Yeah.

[35:31] Charis: Well, because I think that, oh, gosh, I think that like, I think that the this is so not to be on my high horse right now. But I think that like, the lowest, like Glee fans, lowest Glee fans, the fans that know the least.

[35:47] Claudia: Okay, Glee cast system.

[35:50] Charis: I'm making the Glee cast system right now.

[35:53] Claudia: And we're saying cast with an E at the end, of course.

[35:56] Charis: Yes, of course.

[35:57] Claudia: In case you're not following around.

[35:58] Charis: Not the Glee cast version by Glee cast.

[36:01] Claudia: Right, right.

[36:03] Charis: Glee cast system is front runner for title of ad.

[36:07] Claudia: That's pretty good.

[36:08] Charis: That's really amazing.

[36:10] Claudia: But no, I think that like, I'm not going to name names, but you know, you know who I'm talking about. There is there are Gleeks out there that call themselves like the biggest Gleeks and they have not watched it past a certain season, season three, of course.

[36:30] Charis: Such a hater.

[36:34] Claudia: And I'm just like, okay, then are you the biggest Gleek if you haven't even watched the fucking show all the way through?

[36:39] Charis: People just be saying people just be saying shit.

[36:42] Claudia: I it was funny because, again, this like conversation with someone in the wild who I don't know how it came up. My friend whose birthday it was is a big musical theater fan. And we were like all talking about that and then turned to Glee or something. And the person that I met was like, we need to talk about Glee. You need to rank all your favorite characters and all of these things. We need to. Literally, they put a gun to my head. And you have to rank all your favorite characters. And I literally found myself being like, how how into this do you really are we really going for?

[37:18] Charis: Oh my God.

[37:19] Claudia: It wasn't as safe as I thought it was. Because, like, I started referencing things and they didn't know what I was talking about. I was like, now I feel insane.

[37:27] Charis: No, I was I was at a party a few weeks ago and.

[37:32] Claudia: Like one of my friends like put me, not Ben, another friend.

[37:37] Charis: These are all good friends.

[37:38] Claudia: They're all they're all well-meaning. It's not Ben this time, but they're all well-meaning that they put me into conversations where they're like, okay, Andrew, talk about that. Talk about the show you like talking about. And and it got to the point where one of the people I was talking to that I don't have any context for who it was, but they were like, I they were like, I went to go see the Glee tour. I'm not sure which one I saw, but I remember that they saying I'm a slave for you. And I was like, oh, that was the 2011 tour. And they were like, oh, my God, that you're a really big Gleek that, you know, like.

[38:16] Claudia: You just went to the show and spent probably like a hundred dollars just like casually.

[38:23] Charis: Yeah.

[38:25] Claudia: Well, I have context for when they sang I'm a slave for you. I don't know. I feel like such an asshole even saying this shit.

[38:32] Charis: It's OK.

[38:34] Claudia: Anyway, I really I think it's a great read, Karis, and I would love to share it with with the Gleeks.

[38:40] Charis: Yeah, I'll post it. I'll post the it's on my Google Drive, so I'll just put the link there.

[38:47] Claudia: Perfect. Yeah, it's really, really fascinating, especially like the the comparisons between Rachel and Nina. That is like I kind of forgot that Nina was like kind of an insufferable character. But like sex, but like it's like it's because I'm like at the Rachel Berry kind of like she she has the ceiling, you know? And so it's like it's hard. Like if if Nina isn't even like permeating it, then it's like, what is she even doing?

[39:16] Charis: Her birth name, Nina.

[39:18] Claudia: Nini. Nini.

[39:20] Charis: Oh, wait, wait, wait. Are we calling?

[39:23] Claudia: Yeah, her character's name is Nini, but her birth name is Nina.

[39:28] Charis: OK, so what do you call her?

[39:30] Claudia: Nini. Oh, she's Nini.

[39:32] Charis: Yeah. OK, I it's it's been a minute since I've really tapped into that world. And, you know, that's OK. That's why we have the scholarship.

[39:40] Claudia: That's why we have the scholarship to peruse.

[39:43] Charis: It has been for your work two years since I've seen High School Musical, the musical, the series.

[39:48] Claudia: How many seasons were there? Four.

[39:50] Charis: How many seasons? Four. Four.

[39:52] Claudia: Oh, that's pretty good. And Olivia left after the first one? Second.

[39:55] Charis: No, she was a series regular or season regular first to recurring third one.

[40:04] Claudia: And she wasn't. And then not at all in the last one.

[40:07] Charis: I was really holding out hope in that in that series finale. I really thought she'd stop by and be like, hey, I thought I'd just catch the show.

[40:15] Claudia: Guess that. Hmm.

[40:19] Charis: Which is I guess that's a Rachel Berry thing to do.

[40:22] Claudia: Yeah. No, she'd show up.

[40:24] Charis: That's everything. She'd show up.

[40:26] Claudia: She needs to be seen. She'd be having a meltdown.

[40:29] Charis: Oh, there's a camera here. Oh, we're doing the show.

[40:34] Claudia: I want to be on it. OK, so I think it's time that we glack it.

[40:40] Charis: We're a good 45 minutes in. So I think that's a perfect time to pull the first song.

[40:45] Claudia: Don't worry, I didn't have any grievances. I didn't.

[40:49] Charis: Claudia? I don't. Did you actually not?

[40:51] Claudia: No, I have a topic I want to bring up, but I'm going to see if I can bring it up naturally.

[40:56] Charis: I got like I got one in here.

[40:59] Claudia: I'm waiting. I'm waiting for a time. Wait, really?

[41:02] Charis: Oh, no. I really hope that the songs lend themselves.

[41:05] Claudia: Yeah, I'm very excited to listen.

[41:08] Charis: And you will watch a song from the hip hop show. I love to do that.

[41:12] Claudia: We're going to do four. We're going to do four.

[41:15] Charis: Wait, four. Oh, my gosh. Look at that.

[41:17] Claudia: There's the cup. It's beautiful.

[41:19] Charis: There's the cup for just like how many seasons there was a high school musical musical series.

[41:24] Claudia: That's right. For one more season than some other biggest gleek in the world has actually seen.

[41:30] Charis: Right. Right. Not naming names, of course.

[41:33] Claudia: Yeah, you have no idea. I'm not picturing anybody in my brain when I say that.

[41:40] Charis: Claudia, what do you what do you want to manifest today?

[41:43] Claudia: I don't know. Well, actually, my first thought is.

[41:51] Charis: Maybe not a group number, but a number with multiple vocalists where you have someone that's not like your Rachel, your Santana, that really, really shines.

[42:01] Claudia: Because I was thinking about this in the really important question of last episode of What's Your Favorite Polo?

[42:08] Charis: Great question. Yes. Of like characters who talk is not necessarily the one I'm thinking of, but like characters who get really like screwed in the solo department, either with the number of solos they have or just like the quality of them.

[42:22] Claudia: Sam, I'm thinking Cord Overstreet, beautiful boy, beautiful voice. His souls are all very like kind of weird and throwaways.

[42:30] Charis: Yeah. I want a song where you have like a great vocal standout moment from one of those characters, because I was trying to rack my brain of like my favorite like features on songs for different characters versus like solos.

[42:46] Claudia: And my one for Puck is Loser, because I know you're all wondering about that.

[42:53] Charis: Loser. You're streaming that? Yeah. I really like that song.

[42:58] Claudia: Yeah. It's kind of crazy how short the mp4 is.

[43:02] Charis: Yeah. I don't know how often I'm actually streaming it these days, but it was like that was definitely a touch point for me.

[43:08] Claudia: I really like that one. I agree. When you say that, I have a song in mind. I'm almost afraid to say it out loud that what I what I'm manifesting, because if I say it out loud, does it negate?

[43:20] Charis: What if you pull the thing, don't look at it? Say it. Say what you're thinking.

[43:26] Claudia: Wait, so I do say what I'm thinking?

[43:29] Charis: Yeah, you should say everything.

[43:30] Claudia: OK, it's ABC. ABC is so good.

[43:33] Charis: And I kind of think that it it doesn't have exactly like the love shack effect where I'm like, oh, this isn't good. I know that it's good. I just kind of take it for granted.

[43:40] Claudia: I feel the same. And I just think that everybody's singing their damn.

[43:48] Andrew: We lost Charis.

[45:49] Claudia: When did Charis leave?

[45:51] Andrew: I don't know, she was reconnecting for a second and then she was out.

[45:55] Charis: Oh no.

[45:57] Andrew: Use that finger, use that snap. Logistically, we lost Charis during "Diva." We lost Charis, y'all. But Charis is back.

[46:11] Andrew: How much of the performance did you watch?

[46:13] Charis: I would say like, how long of it?

[46:17] Andrew: It was a full three minutes.

[46:19] Charis: I probably got a minute and a half of it.

[46:21] Claudia: Oh.

[46:23] Charis: Okay, so I feel like I got halfway through.

[46:25] Claudia: I feel like I saw when you left and it was towards the end.

[46:27] Charis: Oh.

[46:29] Claudia: Well, but before I left it, it was kind of like.

[46:31] Charis: It's not working.

[46:33] Claudia: Yeah, exactly.

[46:35] Charis: Oh.

[46:37] Andrew: Um. I mean, I had fun.

[46:39] Charis: Do you feel like you need to watch it again?

[46:44] Andrew: I feel like I've seen it enough.

[46:46] Charis: You got it.

[46:50] Andrew: You know, I feel like I got the idea.

[46:52] Claudia: Yeah.

[46:54] Charis: You get the idea. I mean, hopefully that doesn't affect too bad my vote.

[46:58] Andrew: Yeah, I might have to quit.

[47:00] Andrew: You hate it. Wait, Charis, do you want to start the discourse then on "Diva"?

[47:04] Charis: Sure. I love how much dialogue there was at the beginning.

[47:08] Claudia: Because there was music playing.

[47:10] Charis: There was music.

[47:12] Claudia: So it counts.

[47:14] Charis: Yeah. Um. How long into the show until they stopped dead naming Unique?

[47:20] Claudia: No, that is really, really crazy.

[47:22] Charis: Yeah. Because she did call him.

[47:26] Claudia: Oh my gosh. Not me.

[47:30] Charis: Misgendering her. Gosh. She did call her Wade.

[47:37] Claudia: Wade.

[47:39] Charis: Yeah. I have more "Diva" in my little finger than you having your whole angry inch Wade Unique.

[47:43] Claudia: Yes. Everything about that is really insane.

[47:45] Charis: Crazy work, Tina.

[47:49] Claudia: Really insane. Yeah. I feel like for longer than.

[47:55] Charis: I mean, I'm not ever comfortable. But I feel like for kind of a long time.

[47:59] Claudia: They're dead naming her.

[48:01] Charis: You know?

[48:03] Claudia: Yeah. Well, they do some weirdness of. It being unclear.

[48:09] Charis: Yeah. I don't know. At least for me watching the show. It's unclear what level.

[48:17] Claudia: She's comfortable with. Of like. Dressing.

[48:21] Charis: As a woman. In her public life. Versus whether she wants to be doing it. Just as a stage situation. And it seems like they kind of forget.

[48:34] Claudia: There's the scene in "The New Rachel" where they're at the cafeteria. And I think that Unique. Isn't even. In full glam. I think that Unique. Only just has eye makeup on. Or something.

[48:46] Charis: Is it Sam? I feel like it might even be Joe. Weirdly.

[49:02] Claudia: Don't do that here. We don't do that.

[49:04] Charis: Baby what? I always forget about in "Sweet Dreams" where.

[49:10] Claudia: "Sweet Dreams" is such a weird episode.

[49:14] Charis: Mr. Schuster being like. Literally and I quote. Unique enough with the boob thing. Do you remember this?

[49:22] Claudia: Oh my gosh. I do remember that. That's so upsetting.

[49:28] Charis: It's not great. But I feel unfortunately. Part of the course.

[49:35] Claudia: And also on the topic of Unique. In this episode. This is virtually all Unique. Does in this episode.

[49:41] Charis: I think actually this is all Unique. Does in this episode. In an episode about being a diva. And demanding just respect. And the spotlight. Whatever. Whatever comes with being a diva. I suppose.

[50:00] Claudia: The episode isn't focused. At least a little bit on Unique.

[50:04] Charis: Yeah. I feel like. Back to the essay I wrote. You know. Unique is there to. Give a powerful whale. Be a diva in some. And then not get any plot. Like early. Early season Mercedes.

[50:24] Claudia: I do feel as though. This feels so tricky. Because in a lot of ways. It's a great thing that Unique. Was even on the show in the first place. But is that enough?

[50:36] Charis: Right. It seems like there's strategy. They're like okay. We have multiple Asian characters. But we're going to reference them. As the two Asian characters.

[50:48] Claudia: I would argue no. It's not enough.

[50:52] Charis: Yeah. It definitely isn't enough. That Unique was. To my understanding. And maybe this is just the food. That the Glee writers fed to me. That this is the first trans teen. On television. And maybe. That's not factually correct. But I only believe it to be true.

[51:15] Claudia: But yeah. It's just what they do. They're like hey we have her. And then we. I don't know. We have value with Unique. And it's not this episode. It's not this episode. They're being like fucking rude to Unique. And then Tina just goes on. And just like nothing happened.

[51:37] Charis: I do like however. That Marley calls out Tina. But again. Never followed up. Because it is fucking insane. The shit that Tina is saying about Marley. In fact the entire Glee club is saying about Marley. When they lose sectionals.

[51:54] Claudia: Anyway. Oh my god. I loved them. Obviously I'm a huge "Blow Me One Last Kiss" apologizer. I love that duo.

[52:06] Charis: It's so good. That's a grievance I have.

[52:10] Claudia: Me too. That's my number one grievance probably.

[52:14] Charis: One time Alex Newell did a Q&A. It's such a good song. Their Instagram. And I said something about favorite song you sang with Melissa. I think they posted it. And was like next caller.

[52:26] Claudia: Oh my god. Did not want to answer that question.

[52:30] Charis: I thought they were cute.

[52:32] Claudia: Yeah. I personally. "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." That's good to me.

[52:40] Charis: What other ones we got?

[52:42] Claudia: "Locked Out of Heaven." That's good.

[52:46] Charis: That's another friendship. That I wish we saw more of. I love those two together. Such good friends.

[52:55] Claudia: Relating it to this performance. When Tina is being rude to Unique. Is what sets off Marley. To be rude to Tina. So it's all here.

[53:05] Andrew: Claudia what do you think about "Diva" Glee Cast version by Glee Cast?

[53:09] Claudia: I feel like we started off really negative. I love it so much. I love. I love my. Call me maybe you Rachel girls. I love that group.

[53:23] Charis: I was kind of annoyed when. Kitty and Marley were. Up on the runway. Because I don't know what it is. I just love. Those four singing together. And like being silly and stupid.

[53:37] Claudia: I mean like Blaine. Is kind of just funny by virtue of him. Being the one guy.

[53:41] Charis: Guys can be divas too.

[53:45] Claudia: Guys can be divas too.

[53:48] Charis: But I. Is a male version of a diva.

[53:52] Claudia: Right.

[53:54] Charis: It's reverse.

[53:56] Claudia: Yeah. Totally.

[54:00] Charis: I love it. I love the dancing. I really like this nose move. That they do.

[54:06] Claudia: That audio medium. I mean video. Companion to the audio medium. It's all just so good and silly.

[54:14] Charis: I feel like I've said multiple times. I'm a big fan of season four. Especially in the beginning. Because I really like the chemistry. Of these few especially. Britney is one of my favorites. Which is the topic. I wanted to bring up at one point. I don't know if this is the time for it.

[54:35] Claudia: I have been thinking a lot about. I think what Kay said.

[54:39] Charis: Yeah.

[54:41] Claudia: About Britney a couple episodes back. And I commented.

[54:45] Charis: Nicole.

[54:47] Claudia: Kay in that episode?

[54:49] Charis: No Kay was in last season of the Glocket. I think Kay maybe.

[54:51] Claudia: It was Kayla that said something about. Britannia being. I don't know I might be making this up.

[54:59] Charis: Oh yeah. I think I know what you're talking about.

[55:03] Claudia: I've had two moments listening to. The week of the week podcast. That made me feel a little bit sick. But not in a way that isn't valid. And so the first one was at some point. Talking about basically. That Britannia is like. I don't know borderline abusive. And really manipulative. Because of the way it all started out. And Santana manipulating Britney. And all that. That made me actually sick.

[55:30] Charis: But there's something to be said there. And when I was listening to Nicole. Talk about Britney. About how there are two different ways. You can take the character. And one is like she's stupid. Because she has literally nothing going on. And so there's no responsibility to be taken. For the best things she says and does. Namely I think. The racist comments.

[55:52] Claudia: Oh against Unique.

[55:54] Charis: Against Unique. The uploading of the sex tape. Was really quite bad. And not something I had thought about before.

[56:00] Claudia: Yeah.

[56:02] Charis: Where you either like she's stupid. She doesn't know any better. And that makes her just not a very interesting character. Or she's not held to any kind of like. Responsibility for her actions. Which also makes her not a fully fledged character. So it's like hard for. I guess in the case just hard for Nicole to like. You know. Like her as a character. And or see her as a good fit for Santana.

[56:27] Claudia: I was thinking a lot about that. Because it made me feel. I don't know defensive. But like. It's true and valid. And the only. I take it personally. Because like Britney is my. One of my favorite characters. I think since re-watching the show. Santana has had a lot more of a big. Impact on me. And is such an important character to see on TV. And I love everything about her. And Naya's portrayal of her. But when I was watching Glee for the first time. It's like a tween. Britney was my favorite. I just she. I don't know. I love her dancing. And I love her comedy. Favorite episode of the damn show. Favorite episode of the damn show. Is "Britney 2.0." Because she's just doing her shit. Whatever it is. She's just doing it.

[57:24] Charis: And I was having this conversation with somebody. About like this character. And those two different ways. That you can see her. And whether that like. If there's a way to kind of like. Necessarily like. It's like I think few things can be true. And what I kind of came up with. Was just all of these characters. Are so deeply imperfect. In that they're. Although a lot of the stuff is very not realistic. It's so realistic of what it's like to be in high school. And what it's like to be a teenager. Trying so hard to like. Be a certain kind of person. And failing to do the right thing. And I think a lot of that is embodied. In the Finn character. And not that I would defend. Any of the stuff Burton is ever up to. But I don't know. I feel like I look back on some of the ways. That I behaved or like saw the world. At that age. And it makes me feel like so so so humiliated. And sometimes seeing that.

[58:24] Claudia: In characters that, I don't know, are complicated is like, I don't know. I feel as though I've talked before. Okay, so I, Allison and I were on Recovering Gleek, recapping the episode What the World Needs Now, an episode that was also recapped on today's, of the recording, the time that we're recording on And That's What You Really Miss. And so I was thinking about the damn things that I've said on Recovering Gleek as it pertains to specifically Brittany in that episode. And I feel like a lot, I totally agree with you, Claudia, that it rears its head a lot in that episode, because it is a very Britney-heavy episode, What the World Needs Now. This entire path that Britney goes on, that she essentially kidnaps Abuela, lies to Abuela, and kind of tricks her into believing that she's someone else.

And then it's like, hey, gotcha. I wanted to prove to you, it's been a minute since I've rewatched the episode in full, but I wanted to prove to you that I'm the same person, and you can care about me. I'm really butchering this entire plot. But Britney's sentiment that she gets across to Abuela at the end of the episode, I feel as though speaks to, I don't agree with the tactics, but I think it speaks really true to her character that this is a character that the way that she sees sexuality is so fluid. She doesn't play by these ostracization rules that people of a certain sexualities are at all ostracized. She's like, this is just who I am, and this is who I've always been, and kind of deal with it.

And she says that to Abuela, and she's like, I'm waiting for your generation to die off, which is insane, but also true. You see her parents, and it's like, oh, these are just fully accepting parents. They play by her, quite frankly, bullshit, the Britney bullshit, constantly. Santana has a much more rigid idea of, oh, I gotta play it safe, whereas Britney comes in and is like, I'm coloring outside the lines.

[1:00:51] Charis: Totally. Yeah, I feel like you're verbalizing that much better than I was. I felt like that was such more garbage, but thank you.

[1:00:58] Claudia: I don't think so. I don't want to defend any of the bad stuff that character does, because especially I think the truest part of what Nicole was talking about, it's like, she's never really held accountable for anything, and that I do think is like, which is true with a lot of characters, but not always, which is my, but yeah, it's bad stuff. I think there's also an interesting element to that character where, I don't know if it's a crazy thing to say that, I don't think she's neurotypical, and I think that presents a really interesting- That's another conversation. Like the way, I love, partly because it's funny, but partly because it's such a kind of like, takes the rug out from under you and subverts what you think about this character, her whole arc in season four, where she's like, this super creative genius that you can't really put into a box, that no one really knew what she was capable of, but she had no issue with ever really having to prove that to anyone, except briefly early in the series when Artie calls her an idiot, and she's just so brave in herself, and I think that really drew me to her watching the show for the first time, because I think Santana is way cooler and more of a badass than I will ever be, but I think in a lot of ways, I saw myself in her in certain ways, just having a similar family background, and having that coming to terms with my sexuality at a young age to a family that was not supportive of that, and that being really hard, and you don't see that journey for Brittany, because she doesn't have it.

She is playing by her own rules, and it was aspirational, too. I feel like Brittany was very aspirational, and also she was Santana's hero in a lot of ways. I often feel like I'm often very jealous of, particularly people that are in the queer community, that have this Brittany mindset, that they've just had a completely different upbringing, that kind of, like, enforced this, like, kind of, like, like, flippancy.

[1:03:19] Claudia: Yeah, right? That it's like, Brittany, just by, oh, she, like, she, it, like, pisses me off out of, like, jealousy sometimes, you know, where I'm like, girl, I wish, I wish I could say that shit, but, like, I'm not, yeah, where it's, like, I feel much more closely aligned to the Santana spectrum, where it's, like, oh, god, you cannot talk to people like that. I don't know, it's, it's, I don't know, for, to my own detriment, that, like, I am, like, like, scared? I don't know, that I'm, like, I need to get over that, but it's, it's, it's so kind of deeper. Karis, I want to hear from you. What do you think about anything?

[1:04:10] Charis: Yeah, yeah, well, okay, so I, I was, I was a late, late bloomer, realizing I was queer, but I, I'm actually a pastor's daughter, so I grew up in a religious household, but my parents are very liberal, and so, like, when I came out with that to them, it was sort of, like, not a big deal, and every time, every time I talked to my roommate about my parents, she's, like, oh, cool, you, your parents are cool with everything. I was, like, yeah, I know, I kind of feel bad. No, I've had an easy time. That you fall under this, like, Britney mold? I got, I got the, the Britney, I fall into the Britney. Britney also, for a long time, was my favorite character, and then, upon rewatches, it became Santana.

I think, I mean, on a, of just being, like, just learning, learning about yourself and your own, you know, identity is interesting, but also, as a comedian, and as, like, a comedy writer, my favorite characters used to be stupid funny, and have moved to terrible woman, yeah, characters to watch and to write, and so, like, Santana and Sue now, when more, more that I watch it, and, and Rachel, you know, terrible women, I love, I love watching them, especially, like, terrible women who are complex.

[1:05:44] Claudia: Yeah, they're just so, I mean, all three of them. I love them. What about Quinn? All of them, all of them. That's a terrible woman. Quinn, yeah. Yeah, I love them. Terrible and complex. Yeah.

[1:06:00] Andrew: Man, Glee is a great show. It's really good. Great show. Glee is a great show.

[1:06:07] Claudia: Yeah, I, that was a great conversation about the performance diva. I know, I think that really, that really provides new insight on diva. Um, no, I really love that we had this conversation. I think, I think it's very important. And we all had kind of something different to add to it, which is always really fun.

[1:06:23] Charis: Yeah, I'm gonna be scared of what I was saying as I was saying it. So hopefully.

[1:06:29] Claudia: No, you're so perfect. Right, Charis?

[1:06:36] Charis: Yeah, don't you both think I'm perfect? Perfect. Yeah. I do think you're perfect.

[1:06:43] Andrew: Okay, so, uh, things that I wanted to say about the- That's all my thoughts on diva.

[1:06:48] Charis: Amazing. Incredible. Okay, go ahead, diva.

[1:06:55] Claudia: Okay, my turn. Oh, you haven't even talked about diva. Wait, wait, wait. Do you want to go? Is that you being a diva? I'm not saying you go diva. Oh, okay. I'm gonna be a diva and be assertive. Um, all right. Use that finger, use that finger, use that snap. Um, this was during the era where, um, Ryan Murphy was just uploading to YouTube. Do you remember this era? That he was just like, he uploaded this like a full like week ahead of time. And he was like, I don't know, it was just like really interesting to watch like, performances that I guess that he was like, particularly fond of that he was like, fuck it, I'm releasing on my personal YouTube channel. And I remember like being kind of revolutionized by it, that I like did the YouTube to mp3 ahead of time.

And I was just like, Oh, I actually need to be able to listen to this on my own leisure. You know, in the few days that we actually before we actually have the iTunes release. And so Ryan Murphy, I think that you should return to your YouTube channel era. And just release crazy shit. I think that it's YouTube kind of needs you right now. And then also, I want to bring up, I think it's really interesting that we have this conversation, mostly about Brittany, because last time, Brittany was, uh, was the one voting on this Galactic competition. And that's the reason that we're watching right now. And I recall, the thing that we we talked about, unfortunately, the the memory that this triggered for Heather Morris was that this was the day, this is a horrible day on set for her, because this was the day that she realized that she was pregnant with her first child.

[1:08:29] Claudia: Oh, wow. Yeah. So, um, that's great. Now that that's kind of like, all I can think about, but she's like, locked the fuck in in this performance as, you know, acknowledged by the, by the nose swipe dance move that she does with her thumb. Yeah. Um, okay. I'm done being a diva, and I am passing the torch over to whoever wants to say their shit about diva now.

[1:09:00] Charis: I think I said my shit. We all said our shit. Clocking that sadness. Do we? Yeah, I didn't have a lot. I didn't have a lot of shit to say because I missed half of it. Because you missed it a little bit. And half that I did get was off the dialogue and dead naming. Yeah, my my only other but the I love the costuming. Yes, it's Yeah, it's really, really incredible. I how do we feel about this song? Do we feel? I feel like this is this is the last time we'll watch diva. I have a weird feeling about it. I'm like, I'm scared for her. Because while I was watching, I was like, this is really, really great. I don't want to send it home. But it doesn't hold. It's not a heavy weight. Yeah. Although it is a personal favorite of mine.

Like I Yeah, I love the vocals. I love the people that are featured. I love the choreography. I think it's like very fun. Visually to watch like it's something very satisfying about it. And I really like the arrangement. Like it's different. Yeah, then the original is very different. Yeah, yeah, I really like it. But I don't know. I feel like it doesn't like it's a very fun song. Yeah.

[1:10:12] Claudia: I Yeah, it's a great song. I wouldn't be sad to see it go to round four. But I feel like if it didn't go further than this, I'd be like, Oh, all right. Are you ready? Are we ready for what it's? So there might be a little bit of a shift in the audio quality, we did need to switch from Riverside to zoom because of audio issues that affect it just it's not it can affect a gleek. Gleeks can be affected by this. And the vaccine would help. I thought I thought that would help. I thought I was told I was told by AppleCare that it would help but no. Okay, so here we are. And we're gonna we're gonna black it. We're gonna. We're gonna finish this episode. There's gonna be a vote. Okay, so here we go against diva.

Okay, almost an hour and a half later. Oh, my. There are very few season six songs. Oh, left. Oh, and we got one of them. I would say a lot of divas there. This song is sung by some some divas. Oh, man. Okay, gosh. I'm not in the dark. A lot of divas. If I told you how many divas then that would kind of give it away. Okay. Oh, are you medium? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes. Right. This is a fun one. Okay, yeah. Speaking. Okay, we went from audio problems to actually problem. Um, okay. Problem. This is so happy pride. This is a competition. Yeah, this is a really good competition. For me and gay competition. Um, Claudia, do you want to start the

[1:12:17] Charis: Oh, audio medium? Oh, that's a gay flag. I know that one. That's right.

[1:13:01] Claudia: I was about to say something kind of like this. I get other Naya performances. I'm on my period! I just miss her! Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm on my period and it doesn't take that much and that's really all I'm gonna say. I just like love seeing her because I missed her from in between five and six and then this was she's like back and it's awesome and I love all those girls. I mean, I can't remember if the discourse is, is the discourse not like everyone is not singing very well except for Santana or I feel like this is good Britney vocals. I like the Britney vocals too. I think she's having fun. I feel like it's great. Yeah, she's like holding her own. I think Diana's not doing very well.

Well, they, they, we got to talk about the lyric that they, they gave Diana, which was messy work. I get a little bit breathless. I'm like, oh, that's a little breathy. Oh, yeah, right, right. Yeah, I think, I think Heather really holds her own in this. I think it's great. It's great gay stuff. Like I, they're up to gay stuff. Very grateful, obviously. And we also have, so sorry to interrupt. No, but we also have a gay guy in the performance. We're talking about Kevin McHale. I thought that was a gay guy. It's a gay guy. Yeah, well, he's playing straight in the show. He plays a straight character, but he's played by a gay guy. Yeah, he also plays a black, but he's Yeah, Naya Rivera's ex-boyfriend at the time.

Recent ex-boyfriend. Right. Messy boots. Bad. Yeah, that's honestly rude. Yeah. For a second, I was like, I can't believe they made Naya rap the Big Sean part. But that, of course, is actually Izzy, Izzy. Izzy. Izzy Azalea? Izzy Agalia. Agalia. Agalia. Oh, audio medium, the flag's back. Agalia. Michelle. So this, wait, actually, this is actually history, because this is the only Iggy Azalea song cover, like, feature covered by the Glee cast. Pretty huge. They should have been fancy by Marley. They didn't do fancy. Did she have more than two songs that we, I should know? They see in the red dirt school skirt. That's a work. I liked, I liked team a lot. I remember there was a guy that I really liked in college that like, like team.

And so then I was like, oh, I like team too. And I just listened to team like a lot for like two weeks, because I wanted to pander to him, Dylan. Dylan, if you're listening. Dylan. Dylan. Shout out, Dylan. Shout out, Dylan. He unfollowed me. Oh my god. But that's all I have. It's good. It's actually, it's a great like, moment in the season to see our girls together. Very important to me and should be preserved. It is. Um, yeah, Charis, what do you think about this performance?

[1:16:19] Charis: Oh, I think I just have so much fun watching them. Yeah, it's such a good time. I was, I was thinking about another, I'm not caring about the show Bible thing that they did. At the end of season three, Sue says to Quinn, we're getting new Cheerios uniforms. And then great. Season four, no new Cheerios uniforms. I was kind of gagged when I read that in your dissertation, because I feel like no one talks about that. And I, I remember like hearing that line. And like, okay, so the so the line, of course, is Sue to Quinn in the season three finale. And Quinn is giving back her uniform that she was given and on my way. And then Sue says, I'm retiring this uniform. And I always like assumed that like, okay, that could be interpreted one of two ways. It could be either like the entire uniform as we know it. Like there will be an entire rebrand of Cheerios, or just this specific uniform is being retired. And so and thus Quinn can keep it is that what do we think?

[1:17:36] Claudia: Well, I was gonna say, I think you're giving the writers too much credit.

[1:17:40] Charis: Am I doing that? I tend to do that.

[1:17:42] Claudia: I didn't interpret I interpreted it, but it doesn't make any sense is like the way you retire, like a jersey number, and you don't use the number anymore to honor the player. But that doesn't make any sense. Because the Cheerios don't have like that have number.

[1:18:02] Charis: Right. And presumably those like, I feel like cheerleading outfits. You're like, oh my god, you're so right. I mean,

[1:18:07] Claudia: Okay, maybe, maybe you got me on that.

[1:18:09] Charis: No, I don't think I don't think anyone got I think because that still doesn't make any sense. Well, I mean, I got to keep my, my track singlet from high school. Like I didn't need to give that back. So I don't know. I we've really we've reached that point in the discourse about this, this, this show, hundreds of episodes in that I think we actually do need an answer about that. Someone has to know. I don't know. Somebody's got now.

[1:18:45] Claudia: But problem, I just want to present the legal note, of course, that anybody remember what it'd be in round one? Now to sell you. It was just give me a reason.

[1:18:56] Charis: Oh, God, I literally burn it.

[1:18:58] Claudia: Oh, I hate that.

[1:19:00] Charis: I hate it so much.

[1:19:03] Claudia: And what quick is my least at not a hot take at all. My least favorite couple of the entire show.

[1:19:10] Charis: So bad.

[1:19:11] Claudia: I saw that the performance just give me a reason was like being like, um, it was like the talk of the town on Twitter the other day, that like people were talking about like that shot of Rachel watching them sing it. And like the discourse around it and like a lot of people were liking the engaging with this tweet was that, like, Oh, that girl is definitely gay in regards to Rachel because she's getting emotional watching just give me a reason. But like, I feel like it's like very obvious that she's getting emotional because this would be a song that she would have sung with Finn.

[1:19:37] Charis: Yeah, she's getting Finn feeling. Yeah.

[1:19:48] Claudia: And so like, I don't know, y'all. I don't know some of these leaks out here. Who's gay or region?

[1:19:54] Charis: They're reaching I listen, I I'll eat very crumbs off the ground. But come on, we got to be serious. We got to we got to lock in every once in a while. Yeah.

[1:20:05] Claudia: Um, but the other performance that it beat in round two was, of course, Buenos Aires, which I think, oh, you can check the tapes. I did vote for Buenos Aires over this.

[1:20:16] Charis: So I would have voted for this.

[1:20:21] Claudia: Oh, I don't know. I think I would have voted for this. But I do love a harmony number.

[1:20:27] Charis: Oh, they're good. Two for two.

[1:20:28] Claudia: I personally think two for two. I personally think anything goes anything you can do is the best agreed Lee project alum number. And we're saying that Oh, you know what? It's awesome. Really good. Which is back to see Bob. That's a project.

[1:20:47] Charis: Yeah, and that's that's really project on Glee Project crime.

[1:20:51] Claudia: It's true. It's good. But oh my gosh, I'm just thinking about the tap.

[1:20:57] Charis: Oh, it's great. It's great. I'm not I'm not saying it's that.

[1:20:59] Claudia: Um, but I feel like I already kind of know my vote between these two songs. Do we feel what? How do we feel?

[1:21:09] Charis: I feel I feel good. I wrote mine down.

[1:21:13] Claudia: You write it down. It's important that we write it for for no for nobody who's going to be watching this. But for you guys, problem. Oh, wow. Oh my gosh. Wait, so I will be doing a vote for diva, which puts Claudia in a hot seat.

[1:21:27] Charis: Oh, no. Between these two gorgeous.

[1:21:33] Claudia: Wow. And they both are two gorgeous girls. I thought I knew what I wanted. Talk us through what's going on.

[1:21:43] Claudia: My initial Okay, so as I was saying, when I first saw diva, I was very into it. And I, I scream her pretty frequently. I feel I like it like checks a lot of boxes. But after we watched problem, I was kind of I was kind of like, that's, that's kind of icon status in a way that diva sometimes I forget about. I'm almost but I'm, I fear I'm doing like a diversity hire. Like I'm kind of like, that's not right. Actually, I mean that I want like representation. I know we cannot I feel so bad for presenting that as even a thing as it relates to the glock it because I think it's such we got we got a we got to retire that.

[1:22:36] Charis: Yeah, retire that conversation number. I just like, when I see my girls, I'm like, I need to see as much of them as possible. Like that's kind of what I'm what I'm leaning towards. But I feel like I'm gonna like, I guess I'll vote my gut and go problem. But all right, hard for me. It's very bad. Because I really, really, really love diva. And I'm gonna really miss having her around.

[1:23:01] Claudia: Well, it's you're doing. I know. I guess I said it. It's done.

[1:23:05] Charis: It's done. I you know, I bet I have a problem with this. Eduardo. Eduardo will Eduardo's in the chat right now. Actually, he's in a hidden chat that's available and he's really, really, really mad. I gave him special access to every recording, regardless if it's a live stream. And he's pissed right now, as am I, I'm not pissed. I'm just like, I don't know what this is like, kind of, can we all like grow up and then and like admit that like, problem is the worst on Holy Trinity number?

[1:23:34] Claudia: Yeah, wait, I can't say that crazy. I like

[1:23:37] Charis: come. What's the worst?

[1:23:41] Claudia: No, I think come see about me is the worst. I think you're I think it is come see about me.

[1:23:46] Charis: What do we have? We have?

[1:23:49] Claudia: I don't think it's bad. I mean,

[1:23:52] Charis: say a little prayer. Are we counting a little prayer?

[1:23:55] Claudia: Yeah, say a little prayer. Of course. I think that we can even we're just so funny. Can we even throw in like, you keep me hanging on? No.

[1:23:59] Charis: Oh, no. Okay, okay. Whoa.

[1:24:06] Claudia: How dare you? They're not in that.

[1:24:09] Charis: Yes, they are. They are in the video. Yes, they are.

[1:24:14] Claudia: To be in the video. What were they doing?

[1:24:16] Charis: They were doing what they do in like, essentially the same thing that they do. And I say a little prayer. They were like the main backup for Quinn for Quinny.

[1:24:24] Claudia: But main backup versus only backup, you know?

[1:24:27] Charis: What? Because there were other Cheerios in it, right?

[1:24:30] Claudia: Yeah, they're doing more of like, that's definitely not Unholy Trinity.

[1:24:32] Charis: Hey, wait, wait, wait. Charis, by that logic, there was a lot of Cheerios in problem.

[1:24:39] Claudia: Well, they were singing. Unholy Trinity was singing.

[1:24:43] Charis: They're having clear vocal moments. My other thought is like, like you said, there's only so much season six left. And one of my favorite parts of season six is when we get to see them, especially like anytime any of them are part of season six, like any one member is wonderful. When we get Bertana, it's wonderful, but you get three for three. Come on.

[1:25:05] Claudia: I will say that. Come on.

[1:25:07] Charis: I love the Britney hair here in problem. Yes, of course, of course.

[1:25:10] Claudia: But I also like the Britney hair in Diva.

[1:25:15] Charis: Britney hair off.

[1:25:16] Claudia: Great problem. And so then I guess my vote is kind of set.

[1:25:21] Charis: Well, I guess I now I'm you've forced me into talking about problem at least once more in a recorded fashion in my life.

[1:25:26] Claudia: Yeah, one that said you thought you were never going to talk about Diva again.

[1:25:31] Charis: I thought that I thought that I just like Diva kind of just like gave off this energy that I'm like, well, we're going to bid adieu to Diva, you know, I feel like I feel like the universe kind of had it out for Diva with the with all of the technical problems with it with the technical problem.

[1:25:49] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:25:52] Charis: Both problems, kind of two big problems up against one another.

[1:25:58] Claudia: Jesus Christ, you want to do this one more time?

[1:26:01] Charis: Yeah, I'd love to.

[1:26:04] Claudia: I really would.

[1:26:06] Charis: Oh, Claudia, you were here last time for this.

[1:26:10] Claudia: Oh.

[1:26:12] Charis: Oh, I can't think of what any of them go.

[1:26:16] Claudia: Oh, my gosh, I'm so scared.

[1:26:18] Charis: It's kind of just like, it's packed.

[1:26:21] Claudia: Oh, medium. What are we looking at?

[1:26:24] Charis: Oh, my God. We're just talking about this.

[1:26:28] Claudia: Is this like, bring him home? Maybe?

[1:26:31] Charis: Oh, no, no, no, no. Cut from the same cloth. You know what it is, Claudia.

[1:26:37] Claudia: Being what?

[1:26:38] Charis: It's being alive. Yeah.

[1:26:39] Claudia: Being alive.

[1:26:41] Charis: Oh, no, we were playing the other Kolo I preserved.

[1:26:47] Claudia: Um, that Loki didn't sound like him at the end.

[1:26:51] Charis: Right? I never caught that before.

[1:26:53] Claudia: There's something a little uncanny about that.

[1:26:56] Charis: Love it. But I'm just clocking it.

[1:26:59] Claudia: Love it. But just clocking it.

[1:27:02] Charis: Um, I do want to bring attention to while we were watching that performance, of course. Um, Kara said, Oh, my God, his pants. And Claudia said, of course, what pants?

[1:27:15] Claudia: What pants? Of course, audio medium.

[1:27:19] Charis: Kurt is wearing camouflage pants.

[1:27:22] Claudia: Ooh, that joke hit.

[1:27:23] Charis: Gray camo skinny jeans.

[1:27:26] Claudia: So much. Thank you so much for that. I always need I need that kind of affirmation.

[1:27:30] Charis: When I say it's so good.

[1:27:32] Claudia: It was a really perfect joke. I can't believe that he wore gray.

[1:27:37] Charis: Skinny Pants to his NYADA do-over audition.

[1:27:40] Claudia: With boots and a blazer.

[1:27:42] Charis: He really did. He didn't know. He didn't know he was gonna...

[1:27:44] Claudia: Oh, he didn't know. But I know that the gay sycophants that you see at NYADA, I know that they had a field day with that. You know what I mean?

[1:27:52] Charis: The gay sycophants at NYADA.

[1:27:55] Claudia: The gay sycophants at NYADA.

[1:27:59] Charis: Oh my gosh.

[1:28:03] Claudia: I gotta be so real. I don't even think that I know what sycophants mean.

[1:28:07] Charis: I don't either.

[1:28:10] Claudia: Let's see.

[1:28:11] Charis: Ellis. I feel like we gotta shout out Ellis every time we see her.

[1:28:15] Claudia: I was hoping that you would. It's kind of like a jump scare every time for me. Ellis.

[1:28:19] Charis: I know. Ellis from the Glee Project. She's in the audience for that.

[1:28:24] Claudia: Love of my life. Ellis from the Glee Project. The fact that she's like the front row. Yeah.

[1:28:29] Charis: I have a thought about Ellis. Was it Big Spender, the song that she sang when she left the Glee Project? I have a theory that Ryan gave her that song because he wanted her gone.

[1:28:43] Claudia: Because the two times we hear that song on Glee...

[1:28:46] Charis: Oh, he has something against that song.

[1:28:49] Claudia: He hates that song.

[1:28:50] Charis: I love this headcanon.

[1:28:52] Claudia: And he gave that song to her because he would hear it and go, No, I actually don't like this. And could send her home.

[1:28:59] Charis: You're so right. Claudia, you didn't watch Glee Project, yes?

[1:29:03] Claudia: I did not, unfortunately.

[1:29:04] Charis: That's okay. It's not for every Glee.

[1:29:06] Claudia: My favorite reality TV show. It's so good.

[1:29:09] Charis: Bring it back. I'm so serious. And we don't even need to Glee Boot. We just need a Glee Boot project. You know what I mean? Okay. Enough about damn Ellis. Enough with her.

[1:29:19] Claudia: We need to talk about this man.

[1:29:24] Charis: His hair looks really nice and fluffy.

[1:29:27] Claudia: I was thinking the same thing. His hair did look fluffy.

[1:29:30] Charis: Yeah, it really did. I have minimal thoughts.

[1:29:36] Claudia: Yeah, I mean, beautiful. I think it's his second best colo.

[1:29:41] Charis: Second only to, of course, and it's kind of unspoken, but Rose's turn.

[1:29:46] Claudia: You know what? I don't know. There's something, while I was watching this, there are so many colos that I really didn't have any context for, as they related to the original Broadway shows that they're from, that only in recent years, being live, being one of them, that it's like, until watching the actual damn Broadway show, that I'm like, now I have a newfound respect for it.

[1:30:06] Charis: And as if we never say goodbyes is absolutely in that camp. I'm thinking, I'm thinking also, I know this is like, also a rollo as well, but like, I'm the greatest star. What other ones exist in there?

[1:30:35] Claudia: What's the one from Sunset Boulevard?

[1:30:37] Charis: That's as if we never say goodbye.

[1:30:39] Claudia: I didn't know the song before. I don't know Sunset Boulevard very much, but I remember where I was when I heard him sing that on the Glackett, when I was first listening to this podcast. And I went, Oh my God, beautiful.

[1:30:57] Charis: It's really good. I really like I

[1:30:59] Claudia: It's so good.

[1:31:01] Charis: I think that that might be my, my favorite. I feel like I want to listen to it again.

[1:31:05] Claudia: It's really good. It's available.

[1:31:07] Charis: It really was. I literally, no, I was in a parking lot on my way to rehearsal and I went, Oh, that's beautiful. I love that.

[1:31:17] Claudia: That's beautiful.

[1:31:18] Charis: Sunset Boulevard is like, I'm learning, I'm like catching up on a lot of lack of Broadway musical theater knowledge. And I'm like, I'm learning a lot of Broadway musical theater knowledge. And Sunset Boulevard as of now is like my favorite musical ever. I love the song.

[1:31:36] Claudia: Love.

[1:31:37] Charis: It really changed my life. Yes.

[1:31:40] Claudia: Are the Tonys this week?

[1:31:41] Charis: It's this Sunday. By the time that you're listening to this, they already happened.

[1:31:45] Claudia: Oh my gosh, congrats. Insert name here.

[1:31:49] Charis: It's gotta be Darren. I saw him at the end.

[1:31:53] Claudia: At the other end.

[1:31:55] Charis: What did you think of Maybe Happy?

[1:32:01] Claudia: Maybe Happy. I really liked it. He did a good job.

[1:32:04] Charis: I think it's cute. It's like Pixar film.

[1:32:06] Claudia: Yeah. Yeah. You said that. I love, you know, original stories that are like given a shot to be on whatever the big screen, the big stage, like it's just always a really cool.

[1:32:19] Charis: Yeah.

[1:32:20] Claudia: It's good. Good for him. He sounds good.

[1:32:21] Charis: I love that.

[1:32:22] Claudia: The little Broadway show that good. I know that like when Jenna and Kevin had Darren on to talk about Maybe Happy ending, Jenna like revealed that like, maybe this was like an early, it had to have been an earlier iteration of the of the show that she was like in talks of being blank. I'm blanking on the name of the main girl character by play by Helen Shen. But what?

[1:32:50] Charis: It's not Jenny. I don't know. Is it?

[1:32:53] Claudia: No.

[1:32:53] Charis: I don't know. Maybe. Nobody knows for sure.

[1:32:56] Claudia: Miz.

[1:32:58] Charis: Not a single person.

[1:33:00] Claudia: But not a single person could know that. But um, anyway, um, being alive, nobody wants to talk about this song.

[1:33:06] Charis: I will say it's very good. It's like, very important. It's Oliver and Claire are the characters. I don't know. It's like I we're watching it. And I'm like, I hope nothing too good gets pulled because I know this early would be kind of it feels wrong because it is such a good number and a good use of his voice and very powerful moment in his character arc.

[1:33:37] Claudia: But watching it, I was kind of like, bored.

[1:33:40] Charis: It is something to be desired.

[1:33:43] Claudia: That's everything.

[1:33:43] Charis: Before then before there's something to be desired. Too much Brody Rachel. I don't gasp.

[1:33:48] Claudia: I don't know. Yeah.

[1:33:49] Charis: Audio medium to Brody Rachel hand holding.

[1:33:52] Claudia: It's too much.

[1:33:53] Charis: Yeah, it made me roll my eyes.

[1:33:56] Claudia: It didn't age well. I, I want to have a broader conversation about Kurt as it relates to the Glackett though. Do we just like one? I just like I would feel so terrible. This is my own doing to a certain extent that I've, I've helped and I've been assistance to murder of so many colos, particularly in round one, that here we are, and we have three colors left, this being one of them, the other one, one's being Rosa's turn, and I'll remember. But I just I don't want it just to be Rosa's turn. I feel like that like that whittles him down to just that performance. And I don't feel good about it.

[1:34:41] Charis: I agree. And this is like such a good one. Like I think I'll remember I also had my hand in that one. And that was Yeah, the first that was the first time I was on the podcast, I think. And maybe you and that was what was motivating my vote was like, we need more than just whatever it was to colos. Well, I mean, like, it was against sway. Yes. Oh, well, yeah. And it was gonna sway. And I that really didn't get too much for me. But I'll remember I stand by it being good and better than sway. But like, being alive is a it's such a good I don't know, like, touchpoint of this character. And both vocals and like physicality and emotional performance can do like, it's a good testament to that. So yeah, I'm kind of nervous for her.

[1:35:32] Claudia: I'm very, very nervous for her. I just want I want the best. I just want to be okay.

[1:35:38] Charis: Um, do we have any final notes to say about being alive? No. I hope we get something.

[1:35:44] Claudia: The gay competition. Oh, I really hope so. It's it's got to be this one. Are you seeing this?

[1:35:51] Charis: You know, I'm, I'm seeing it. Okay. Interesting competition. I'll say this much. Oh, alert. Oh, man. Season two. If you ever watched season two of the hit Fox show Glee, you'll, you'll be familiar with this one. Which show? Oh, and you're gonna know what it is. Oh, boom. Oh, this is a zombie. I'm thrilled. It is of course, baby. Thriller heads roll. Here we go.

[1:36:26] Claudia: Okay. Wow. I do have like, a lot to say about this, as it turns out, but I don't want to leave the conversation unless like, do you have a burning sensation to, to, to start the discourse here? Either of you. You want us to have a burning sensation or you're good to go? Because we'll I'm ready to go. But I don't want to like step on anybody that like really wants to talk their shit right now. Please.

[1:36:44] Charis: Okay. I don't think you'll you'll step.

[1:36:55] Claudia: Yeah. I trust you. I'm gonna move to my bed. Thank you. Perfect. That's okay. We're all getting a little comfy. Andrew's gonna talk his shit. I'm gonna get

[1:37:09] Andrew: Okay, so I think I figured out like what it is about this performance. I will start with the the rose of this of this performance for me, which is of course, Naya Rivera. Oh, I'm talking about I'm talking about the

[1:37:31] Charis: on the floor. Yeah, so so special to me. Really, really love it.

[1:37:39] Andrew: No, I love it. I really do love it. But I think that like what I was like, what is it about this performance that like doesn't it's like not it's not all there for me. I figured it out. What?

[1:37:51] Charis: Okay, I have the results. The results came back from the lab. And this is what they said. I this is obviously from the Super Bowl episode. It aired directly after the Super Bowl. And we've talked about this episode before in the past that like, it kind of they're doing like a lot. They're just jamming way too much in there to like collect as many non gleeks into watching the show on a weekly basis. And they're just they're using everything in their arsenal. And with this performance, it's like, I don't know, maybe you'll disagree. I just feel like it's like it's there's something that isn't like true to like, glee in this performance. That like it's maybe like it's just trying. Is it trying too hard to like, get folks to convert to gleekism? Like, I do the same way, but it's working. You know?

[1:38:56] Claudia: Oh, it's it's work. Okay. Yeah, no, it's it's good. And I remember I really streamed this a lot in like 2011. I don't think I'd like have ever like, went back and been like, you know what I really want to listen to? Yeah.

[1:39:11] Charis: Yeah, I feel similarly. Wow. I, I streamed this a lot.

[1:39:19] Claudia: Oh, okay. All right. Halloweeny to me, which I know wasn't kind of intentional. You usually Halloweeny time is where I stream at the most. Yeah. But yeah. Hanger.

[1:39:35] Charis: Oh, I can't hear Thriller, which is I mean, maybe I don't know without looking at a list Michael Jackson's most. Most? No. You know what? Like, me and Elias always have the conversation of like, okay, when Beyonce dies, like what is like the what is the headline? Like, say is it single ladies singer dies? Is it single ladies? Right?

[1:39:55] Claudia: I think that Thriller is kind of Michael Jackson's single ladies. Right? That it's like, it's kind of like everybody just knows it.

[1:40:01] Charis: What's your favorite beyond solo? What's your favorite? My colo?

[1:40:04] Claudia: Wait, that's like, kind of what you're saying. You're like, but it's like, but like, but like Thriller and like, single ladies have like, kind of have their own lives of their own where they exist outside of like, who sang them if that makes sense.

[1:40:20] Charis: Yeah, exactly. And like, always on a party show.

[1:40:28] Claudia: Yeah, no, that's true. Even though this is such a huge, famous song. I can't hear that song without hearing heads will roll in my head.

[1:40:35] Charis: Yeah, and that's, and that's a beautiful testament to Thriller heads will roll. Exactly. It is permeated my brain when I don't hear that.

[1:40:50] Claudia: Yeah, that's upsetting. Wait a minute. This is maybe a stupid question. What else do they borrow from heads will roll beyond those three words?

[1:41:00] Charis: Wait, did they do anything?

[1:41:06] Claudia: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. See, I told you it was a stupid question.

[1:41:12] Charis: It's not stupid. Not stupid.

[1:41:22] Claudia: I want to talk a little bit about that extra behind Kowalski with the bob. She's going so hard to not catch that.

[1:41:29] Charis: She's gonna be in the carousel. I wanted to be her. I want to be that woman.

[1:41:38] Claudia: Yeah, not like, you know, bobbing my head. Well, I think that she was probably told that it's like, hey, this is the Super Bowl episode. We got to we got to fucking pull up.

[1:41:46] Charis: We got to use all right. Was that the most the most extras in a glee episode?

[1:41:52] Claudia: Oh, that's a good question. A lot of people at the home. I know they had a lot of extras.

[1:41:59] Charis: Yeah, well, they Oh, I mean, literally in problem. That entire like, bleachers full of people that are flipping the signs that are like, join glee. We love glee.

[1:42:13] Charis: That's a lot of people too. I'm thinking like big bonfire when they sing.

[1:42:21] Claudia: Home feels a little bit contained though. I think it could stand to reason that there might have only been like 50 people there, you know? Possible. What I was really drawn to was how hard, like how reluctant yet enthusiastic Kowalski was. He was eating up that choreo. He's like, wait, should I? Oh yeah, I'm gonna go in. I'm gonna go in. Wait.

[1:42:49] Charis: And he ate it up. You know that, maybe this won't land either, but you know that TikTok thing of like, the Meghan Trainor song of like, I'll join in at the end of every DreamWorks movie where there's like a big dance party and then there's always the one character that's like, that is like reluctant to join in. That's Kowalski.

[1:43:09] Claudia: Yes.

[1:43:11] Charis: Totally is. And then he does like, he is going for it. Like he's not, you know, he is not throwing it in. He's so good. That was very like distracting. But I'm happy for him. Another, my other main takeaway was I distinctly remember at some point in my life, either watching this episode or watching this number specifically and going on a wild goose chase to see if I could find like, any kind of B roll of Dianna doing the choreography. Because there's a lot of cuts to Naya, there's a lot of cuts to Heather, there's a lot even to Jenna and Leah.

[1:43:49] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:43:49] Charis: And you get a couple glimpses of Dianna in the makeup and doing the choreography. And she is doing a great job. And I was just like, foaming at the mouth for more, just needed more and I couldn't find it.

[1:43:56] Claudia: She loved it.

[1:43:57] Charis: She loved it. And I, I wanted to see what she was up to. But that's my-

[1:44:02] Claudia: Girl, what are you up to?

[1:44:03] Charis: Literally what's she up to? Working.

[1:44:05] Claudia: Working, of course. Sorry. Sorry, I can't. I'm at work, Dianna Agron.

[1:44:18] Charis: I know my vote. I'll say that much.

[1:44:21] Claudia: Can I say something really quick?

[1:44:23] Charis: Please.

[1:44:24] Claudia: And this may have been brought up every other time this has been on the podcast.

[1:44:28] Charis: Yeah.

[1:44:29] Claudia: What was their plan going to be if Santana had gone to the Cheerios? Good point. What was their plan going to be if Santana won Prom Queen? And Dancing Queen was sung? I like-

[1:44:41] Charis: Guys.

[1:44:42] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:44:43] Charis: Guys, you're taking it for granted.

[1:44:47] Claudia: Too much. It's just too much.

[1:44:50] Charis: I'm so glad that they came to this football game because, I mean, I'm sure Rachel would have sounded amazing. But I don't want to hear, I want to hear those Naya vocals, you know?

[1:45:05] Claudia: That raspy, cigar smoking voice.

[1:45:07] Charis: Yeah, baby.

[1:45:08] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:45:09] Charis: Why do they all have little pop star microphones? Can you tell me that?

[1:45:15] Claudia: It's a bit.

[1:45:16] Charis: So they can say brains?

[1:45:18] Claudia: Brains.

[1:45:20] Charis: Don't get me started on the brain.

[1:45:23] Claudia: We got to talk about. That was. I made a reference to that at a kickball game recently. I was like, we should, we can psych out everybody. And the hit Fox show Glee. They everyone dressed up as zombies for some reason, and they started going brains. And then the girl I said that to was like, that's kind of a good idea. We should do that.

[1:45:39] Charis: Wait, can we all admit? That's a real, that's one of the cringiest Glee moment.

[1:45:44] Claudia: I really don't like that. It's a tough watch.

[1:45:47] Charis: Yeah, it's hard to watch.

[1:45:48] Claudia: That's, that's up there with.

[1:45:53] Charis: This one's from you already. That's great.

[1:45:56] Claudia: Wait, this one's for you already. It's kind of fun, stupid, though.

[1:46:00] Charis: Yeah, I like it.

[1:46:02] Claudia: Is this not fun, stupid?

[1:46:04] Charis: Brains, brains, brains is like kind of like, I don't like I think they're telling us to take it seriously. You know what I mean? They're like,

[1:46:12] Claudia: They want us to be like, yes.

[1:46:14] Charis: Yeah.

[1:46:15] Um, I would love to see just like, a scene where the entire crowd is waiting for them to get their makeup on and off.

[1:46:21] Claudia: They finish the game in the zombie makeup.

[1:46:26] Charis: Oh, you're right.

[1:46:32] Claudia: I'm not getting mad at you. I'm getting mad at Glee.

[1:46:35] Charis: I'm not mad at you. I promise.

[1:46:36] Claudia: Don't yell at me.

[1:46:39] Charis: Karis, Jesus Christ.

[1:46:42] Claudia: Um, like I said, I know my vote.

[1:46:48] Charis: Brains, brains, I, I know my vote. Also, I do too, but I'm scared.

[1:46:55] Claudia: Karis, go first.

[1:46:55] Charis: I think you should be. I think I want to vote being alive.

[1:47:00] Claudia: I feel like that's bad.

[1:47:02] Charis: Wow. Well, I'm gonna vote for Gorilla Heads for Raw.

[1:47:11] Claudia: Oh.

[1:47:12] Charis: And I think I know what you're gonna vote for.

[1:47:16] Claudia: But I'll let you say it.

[1:47:19] Charis: Yeah. I'm gonna vote for being alive.

[1:47:22] Claudia: We're gonna get in big trouble.

[1:47:24] Charis: We're not gonna, who, who's, who's gonna get mad at us?

[1:47:29] Claudia: I guess this is just, this is just the name of the game and it's, it's actually almost less scary going into these round three competitions or just like, yeah, guys, of course, they're good songs. And it's gonna be sad that one of them is not gonna stick around any longer. But it's just kind of crazy. Like, I, I feel like Thriller Heads will roll as very, as an important cultural touchstone of the show.

[1:47:51] Charis: But.

[1:47:52] Claudia: Yeah, but you know who else is a, you know what else is an important cultural touchstone of the show?

[1:47:57] Charis: For Hummel.

[1:47:58] Claudia: Kurt Hummel.

[1:47:58] Charis: Ellis from Glee Project.

[1:48:00] Claudia: Oh, Ellis from Glee Project.

[1:48:02] Charis: Yes.

[1:48:03] Claudia: Brody.

[1:48:04] Charis: Brody.

[1:48:05] Claudia: Roachel.

[1:48:06] Charis: Roachel.

[1:48:08] Claudia: The EGOT winner would be Goldberg.

[1:48:11] Charis: Exactly.

[1:48:13] Claudia: I didn't see a single EGOT winner in Thriller Heads roll, actually.

[1:48:16] Charis: I did not even see one.

[1:48:17] Claudia: Not one.

[1:48:19] Charis: Wait, hold on.

[1:48:20] Claudia: You didn't see Rita Moreno dancing around?

[1:48:22] Charis: That was, that was the one in the, that's, that's the one with the bomb behind her.

[1:48:26] Claudia: Oh my god.

[1:48:29] Charis: It was Rita Moreno. Santana Lopez is a reincarnation of Rita Moreno, in a lot of ways.

[1:48:35] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:48:37] Charis: Wow. Yeah, I thought that's how that was gonna go, actually. I'm kind of gagged that we disagreed on every single competition today.

[1:48:48] Claudia: Well, the two.

[1:48:49] Charis: I mean, I feel like it was, I feel like it was disagreed, but also all of us agreed, like, hey, these are pretty good, you know?

[1:48:55] Claudia: Yeah, I mean, like, looking at all of these songs, I'm like, none of them are gonna make it all that far, you know?

[1:49:05] Charis: Yeah. I feel kind of bad about the first one, though, because I love Diva, but I guess it had to be done.

[1:49:09] Claudia: You already did it.

[1:49:10] Charis: You were the one that did it, and so Eduardo already has your name.

[1:49:13] Claudia: Oh my freaking god.

[1:49:16] Charis: Um, so should I recap this episode?

[1:49:19] Claudia: I think you should.

[1:49:21] Charis: Diva is a female version of a loser.

[1:49:24] Claudia: Oh, that's good.

[1:49:26] Charis: Sad. I really like it.

[1:49:27] Claudia: Damn, I'm gonna regret this.

[1:49:29] Charis: I'm editing Andrew right now. I realized after the recording that we went the entire episode having eliminated Diva, and not a single Diva Down joke was made, and so here is your Diva Down joke.

[1:49:44] Claudia: Diva Down?

[1:49:45] Charis: Yeah, Diva Down to hell.

[1:49:47] Claudia: There we go.

[1:49:49] Charis: Um, problem?

[1:49:51] Claudia: I got one more problem with you in round four.

[1:49:55] Charis: Good, very good.

[1:49:56] Claudia: Right?

[1:49:56] Charis: Charis, I'm really, you are, you need to validate these for me. I'm looking, I'm looking at you.

[1:50:02] Claudia: Okay, you, let me know if I do a little flapperoo on any of these.

[1:50:06] Charis: Um, being alive, that's exactly what you're gonna be in round four.

[1:50:11] Claudia: Yes!

[1:50:12] Charis: Is that good?

[1:50:12] Claudia: Okay.

[1:50:13] Charis: That's good. Um, this is, I think we're like leaving on a really stupid note.

[1:50:20] Claudia: Thriller heads will roll in hell.

[1:50:22] Charis: Definitely.

[1:50:23] Claudia: I'm not saying it with my chest, so.

[1:50:25] Charis: I don't know if that affects anything.

[1:50:26] Claudia: No, yeah.

[1:50:28] Charis: Andrew, am I, am I remembering this correctly? Did you also study screenwriting?

[1:50:34] Andrew: I did study screenwriting.

[1:50:38] Charis: I'm not doing anything with a degree.

[1:50:40] Andrew: Okay, great.

[1:50:42] Charis: Yeah, well, I'm doing these jokes at the end of every episode.

[1:50:45] Andrew: Exactly.

[1:50:45] Charis: Pretty good.

[1:50:47] Andrew: You're, you're working that writing bone.

[1:50:49] Charis: I love it.

[1:50:49] Andrew: Yeah, it's being exercised a little bit. Thank you for, thank you for that.

[1:50:54] Charis: You're so welcome.

[1:50:56] Andrew: Um, okay. Well, that was another really fun, uh, technically challenging.

[1:51:03] Charis: Very technically challenging.

[1:51:05] Andrew: Maybe the most technically challenging episode of Gleek of the Week podcast ever.

[1:51:09] Charis: In ways you would never expect or could ever predict.

[1:51:13] Andrew: But we made it to the other end. Claudia is now the host of the Zoom because my computer, uh, ran out of space.

[1:51:22] Charis: And we didn't even start on this damn app.

[1:51:24] Andrew: We didn't even start on Zoom.

[1:51:28] Charis: I'm so tired.

[1:51:29] Andrew: I'm so, I'm so sorry.

[1:51:31] Charis: Oh yeah, it's night time for you guys.

[1:51:34] Andrew: The sun's still up here. I got up at 5am and took a train from Washington DC to my job in Midtown Manhattan this morning.

[1:51:41] Charis: And that's crazy.

[1:51:42] Andrew: I feel really not good.

[1:51:44] Charis: Your job talking about the hit Fox show Glee.

[1:51:47] Andrew: Yeah, that's actually a volunteer service I do.

[1:51:53] Charis: I just want all the Gleeks, all the glisteners listening to this, that you're like, Andrew felt so weird this episode. What is going on with him?

[1:52:00] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:52:03] Andrew: I am so sorry. My brain is not working, uh, in, in, in the way that it typically does. These technically challenging, um, challenges that presented itself really exhausted me. And now I'm really sleepy.

[1:52:20] Charis: Andrew's so weird because Claudia's on her period.

[1:52:24] Claudia: Because Claudia's on her period.

[1:52:25] Andrew: I didn't know that was a thing that happened to her. Um, and graphic, graphic alert. But, um, Claudia, where can the Gleeks find you and your period?

[1:52:42] Claudia: Well, I do public tracking on my Instagram story of my menstrual cycle.

[1:52:50] Charis: I love that you share that.

[1:52:53] Claudia: Yes.

[1:52:53] Charis: Um, I actually should do that. But actually, I don't know anything about anything. Um, you can find me on my Instagram at Claudia gets crafty.

[1:53:05] Andrew: Um, I was like about to say there's some, there's cool stuff in the works. But that's like, not really true. I just be doing stuff.

[1:53:11] Claudia: I don't know. I've been really, um, on one about the new Mission Impossible movie. It was fine. I had a good time.

[1:53:20] Charis: I had a good time.

[1:53:21] Claudia: My, the only other podcast that I listened to, sorry, Kevin and Jenna, they've, they're really not in the rotation anymore. For me, it's Gleek of the Week. And this movie podcast that I love, they were kind of hating on, uh, the Final Reckoning. And to that, I say, boo, boo, get out to the movies, guys.

[1:53:38] Charis: When, in between watching the hit Fox show Glee, get out to the movies.

[1:53:43] Andrew: Yeah, a film, a movie is kind of like a longer episode of Glee when you think about it.

[1:53:48] Charis: Yeah, no, yeah, so right.

[1:53:50] Claudia: Maybe even a couple.

[1:53:52] Charis: And, and it's not with characters that like you're familiar. It's like, it's all new characters.

[1:53:58] Claudia: For the most part, Mission Impossible is, is different.

[1:54:02] Charis: But yeah, yeah. It's movies, go check them out.

[1:54:07] Claudia: Anyways.

[1:54:08] Charis: Totally. Karis, I would love for the Gleeks to be able to find you because you are a really delightful follow, as is Claudia.

[1:54:14] Karis: Wow, I'm honored.

[1:54:18] Charis: You can find me at Karis Bobaris on Instagram.

[1:54:21] Karis: C-H-A-R-I-S, B-O-B-A-R-I-S.

[1:54:26] Charis: I don't post that often on TikTok, but I do have some good ones.

[1:54:32] Karis: At just Bobaris, B-O-B-A-R-I-S. Somebody took the Karis. It was really upsetting.

[1:54:38] Charis: That's what I said. And I love that the Karis, the carousel this week is all 42 of those images.

[1:54:44] Karis: Yeah, all 42, baby. There's some great ones.

[1:54:48] Charis: My favorite one was, I was talking about how the karaoke competition was also a fundraiser for a nonprofit that like helps families adopt.

[1:55:01] Karis: No.

[1:55:07] Charis: My face was a ball that she was holding.

[1:55:11] Karis: I actually need to have all 42. If there's even one missing, I'll know and I'll be really upset. I need all of them.

[1:55:17] Charis: All of them.

[1:55:21] Karis: They're really great. I also don't know if this got caught in the or lost in the technical difficulties ether, but I've had this in my brain, like ever since we knew that we were doing an episode together. And it's this.

[1:55:33] Charis: Karis is the word I used to describe.

[1:55:42] Karis: Oh, I thought you were going to continue.

[1:55:49] Charis: I think that's a perfect way to end the episode.

[1:55:51] Karis: That's so beautiful.

[1:55:52] Charis: Thank you for singing Karis, Karis.

[1:55:56] Karis: Yeah, Karis, Karis.

[1:56:03] Charis: All right.

[1:56:08] Karis: Send me all of these videos.

[1:56:12] Charis: Yeah.

[1:56:13] Andrew: I'm so sorry that there's, I'm so sorry that there's not a video this week. I need you to understand if it hasn't been made very clear how many technical difficulties there were and no video next week, there will be another episode. And if there's not any technical difficulties, you will get a video. But this one lost to lost the time.

[1:56:38] Charis: Anyway, see you then.

[1:56:42] Andrew: Love you guys.

[1:56:45] All: Bye.

[1:56:46] All: It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
