[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:34] Andrew: And you're good, Patrick, to record?

[0:36] Patrick: Yep.

[0:37] Andrew: Okay, perfect. Your laptop is normal?

[0:39] Patrick: Not really, but...

[0:41] Andrew: Oh, awesome. Mine, like, didn't even turn on today, so that was just not really an option. I use my work laptop because it's foolproof, except when it's not, because I always need to use...

[0:51] Patrick: You're putting this in the recording, right?

[0:53] Andrew: Yeah. Is this how we're starting out? This is the cold open. Do you like when the episodes kind of start in the middle of a conversation like this?

[1:00] Patrick: Sometimes.

[1:01] Andrew: Sometimes. Hey, guys, it's me, Andrew. I'm going to further along the process of finding the best song on Glee. And guess what? I have some breaking news. We are now part of the Broadway Podcast Network. Random alert. Really crazy. But we're one big step closer to getting Miss Lea Michele onto the podcast. Once she sees that we're part of the Broadway Podcast Network, she's going to be like, oh, I need to glack it. So, yeah, it doesn't change anything for you listening, but it changes things for Lea Michele in prospective podcasts that she may come on.

[1:41] Andrew: But Lea Michele's not on this week. You know what? We got two people that are so much better than her flop. We have ladies first, Claudia.

[1:47] Claudia: Hey.

[1:48] Andrew: That's so exciting. Oh, my God. Thank you. I think that that's huge. If she doesn't come on with that, like she's doing a bad press tour for Chess.

[2:02] Claudia: Oh, I know. I'm just... Get your act together, girl.

[2:09] Claudia: Girl, let's go. And they have a studio in Midtown that I can use.

[2:13] Andrew: Wait, this is so exciting. Andrew, congrats. Very, very exciting. I can't believe you just revealed that to us live on the air.

[2:19] Andrew: I've been really working in silence the past month on this. But yeah, thanks. And Patrick is also here.

[2:27] Patrick: Hey.

[2:28] Andrew: Hey. Yeah, that is really exciting. Can you have guests come to the thing with you and record? Maybe I'll actually come to New York and visit you.

[2:34] Andrew: I'm not sure how this studio actually works. It just has been through conversations of the people at Broadway Podcast Network, all delightful people. And that was one of the things that they were like, oh, those are one of the benefits.

[2:51] Claudia: People forget that this podcast is a pretty big deal. I was with my friends this morning and I was saying, oh, I'm going to be on that Glee podcast again. And they're like, how many people actually listen to that? And I'm like, it has thousands of followers on Instagram. I literally asked Andrew for that stat to give my mom once, and she was really excited.

[3:12] Andrew: Oh, well, I was looking at I won't reveal, but I was looking at how many people are subscribed to the Patreon and it's so many. I was like, damn.

[3:20] Claudia: Patreon plug. If you're not on Patreon, join.

[3:25] Andrew: The two of you have you made very small debuts initially and then grew to be these really world famous Gleeks.

[3:34] Patrick: Yeah, yeah, that's true.

[3:35] Claudia: Yeah, it's a conspiracy.

[3:40] Patrick: And it is kind of because we've been working at it together and we are the blackmail.

[3:46] Claudia: Yeah. And we're the biggest ship on Gleek of the Week podcast. I'm so excited to talk to you again, baby.

[3:50] Andrew: Are people really shipping Clatric like that?

[3:54] Claudia: No, we just start with each other. I think not romantically, but it could be.

[4:00] Andrew: You know, no, but I'm excited because I was thinking about the only other time that I've recorded with Claudia. It was like the day after the election.

[4:05] Claudia: I was like, wait, was it really?

[4:11] Andrew: Yeah, it was like a week after the election. And like, we had like, I had like a really bad, like, cold. And then like my mom came to my apartment.

[4:19] Claudia: Oh, my God, I remember this.

[4:23] Andrew: And she was like, I don't know if that was in the episode, though. God, that was crazy. And that was the first time we'd ever spoken. And I was like, you OK? It was just showed up.

[4:28] Claudia: That was crazy. Oh, my God, this is amazing. And now so many good things are happening. We're on each other's close friends.

[4:36] Andrew: And I think that that also had like a really iconic episode title of what was it? It was Don't Wear Your.

[4:46] Claudia: Oh, you wear your uniform. That's a funny one. I like that episode a lot.

[4:53] Andrew: I think I what I want to do, like as we're like nearing the end is just to like almost do a dramatic reading of every single title. I think that like they're really fun. They need to be highlighted.

[5:04] Claudia: I mean, this is actually really exciting because I was hoping that I could announce my new podcast, which is finding the best title of episode of Week of the Week podcast.

[5:19] Andrew: OK, it's actually going to be a system. I don't know if you're familiar with it. It's going to be like a bracket on the Broadway podcast network.

[5:22] Claudia: Yeah.

[5:28] Andrew: And so every episode, we're going to read just two titles and then talk about them for 90 minutes to three hours.

[5:35] Claudia: What are some like really iconic ones that come to mind? Like when I think of like really good titles from the Week of the Week pod, I think of like Curling Kitty. That's like a personal favorite of Curling Kitty.

[5:43] Andrew: That's great. That was one of your episodes.

[5:45] Claudia: No, it wasn't. No, that was a live episode. Adam, who I've since met in person, he coined that one.

[5:57] Andrew: Why did I go to?

[5:58] Claudia: And that's what you really miss is on my all the time. Every time I'm like, I don't want that one. I think of the ones I've been on, my favorites were Keeping My Quolo and A Bleak Bleak. I think those are my favorites.

[6:08] Andrew: Oh, I love Miseducation of Andrew McGuire. When I saw that, I was really excited.

[6:13] Claudia: That one's good. That one's really, really good. And it paints a picture.

[6:17] Andrew: It was.

[6:18] Claudia: Oh, I love Wicked Part 2, 4, 3.

[6:25] Andrew: Wait, I can never say that, though.

[6:28] Claudia: Again, I don't know what it is and I don't know what it's supposed to be. But yeah, I didn't want to say that. But I do love Wicked Part 2, 4, 3. It doesn't make any sense. I don't know what it means.

[6:34] Andrew: Miners Watch Out.

[6:41] Claudia: Miners Watch Out is great. That's like a whole subset of Gleeks now. The Miners.

[6:48] Andrew: Yeah, the Miners. Did you know that Miners listen to Gleeks?

[6:55] Claudia: Um, wait, Laissez Faire Gleek, Merrily We Roll Away. Robert Ulrich, Glee casting director interview.

[7:01] Andrew: Oh, um, yeah, I remember listening to that episode. I was like, wow, we don't say anything that is like kind of that might be the worst.

[7:06] Claudia: Nothing that iconic.

[7:07] Andrew: No, it was good. Glitter is Glee litter. That's good.

[7:13] Claudia: Yeah. Um, yeah, I'm keeping my Quolo.

[7:18] Andrew: Yeah. Um, Beth is a faceless entity. That was good. I really like that one.

[7:24] Claudia: That's really, really good. That takes the cake, maybe.

[7:29] Andrew: It gets really weird going further back. Like, well, this is like a really good-

[7:36] Claudia: What kind of weird?

[7:37] Andrew: Oh, yeah. Like, not like it's like the ones that exist now are a very specific time tested formula that I could never explain.

[7:44] Claudia: Just like a secret sauce.

[7:46] Andrew: Yeah. And I don't know where it came from. But like the beginning ones are like, most people could just kind of, you know, pick one of these.

[7:53] Claudia: That's not true. I'm looking at one that says Schrodinger's Glee. So I don't know what I'm talking about.

[7:57] Andrew: But I don't know. Mercedes Deepfake. That's a good one.

[8:01] Claudia: Yeah, like what? Um, representation.

[8:04] Andrew: All right, you know, so they're a little literal.

[8:06] Claudia: But yeah, Mike Dacheng is really good.

[8:08] Andrew: Mike Dacheng is so iconic. He really did start really strong.

[8:12] Claudia: Yeah. The episode itself might have not been that strong, but the title. Come on now.

[8:18] Andrew: I liked it. I would listen to your podcast, Claudia. This was fun.

[8:23] Claudia: Yeah, we already got it in about five minutes of it. So that's not too bad.

[8:29] Andrew: Okay, so I have a Gloicemail. And also, we of course need to talk about Glackett grievances. What do we want to do first?

[8:34] Claudia: Dealer's choice.

[8:36] Andrew: Gloicemail because I already forgot what my grievances are.

[8:40] Claudia: I know. Do you want me to remind you?

[8:43] Andrew: Grievance while we Gloicemail.

[8:46] Claudia: Yeah. To grievance while we Gloicemail. That's a good.

[8:49] Andrew: Yeah, I did my grievances at like five minutes before we started. I was like, Oh God, I was like sweating.

[8:54] Claudia: I'm pulling it up. I'm sweating right now. Like my shirt's like soaked through because I was like, I didn't prepare.

[9:00] Andrew: No, it's actually fine. Okay, here's the Gloicemail.

[9:05] Joseph: Hello, Gleek of the Week. This is Joseph from round two, the proud father of Loveshack. When I heard about his sudden death in round three, I had to grieve him properly by doing a full series rewatch. When I hit season six, this question kept coming up in my head. How did the Dolphin Academy burn to the ground? We always hear about it, but why? Did it lose in round three and now it's in hell?

[9:29] Joseph: Well, I put on my detective page boy hat like Marley and I got to work. I suppose the how is pretty easy. Those Warblers love aerosol hairspray. So Dalton Academy is flammable at all times, pretty much. So now the question is who would want to burn down the school and why? There I was near my corkboard at 2 a.m. and it finally hit me. Kitty Wild. Kitty Wild burned down the Dalton Academy. Yep. It's time for some kitty discourse.

[10:06] Joseph: So first of all, why would she do that? One thing we know about Miss Wild is that she likes to win. She's a prize Cheerio. She won regionals last year. She was the president of the Left Behind Club. She was the only one to survive the calling of Sue in season six. Kitty Wild. So now she has a new mission. Make New Directions the most winning glee club. Now getting rid of the competition is a great first step, but how can she win without a group of the best? When she looks around the choir room, all she sees is some incest twins, a postmodern gay, Billy Eilish's brother, 13 year old kid, not good enough.

[10:29] Joseph: So not only does she need to remove the threat, she needs them to join her. She listened to her locker and inspiration strikes WWQFD. What would Quinn Fabray do? Now Kitty watched the Purple Piano Project. She was there for season three. So she knows it's good. Fire is the answer. This is good. How does she do it? Well, didn't you forget that Kitty Wild is a master strategist. She orchestrated the blame proposal last year, just in case she ever needed the information help more like help me find the schematics of the school. Okay, Beatles. And just like that, hey, beetle, the Dolphin Academy burned to the ground. The Warblers join New Directions. They go on to win nationals. The school becomes a performing arts school. Mr. Shoe gets his new job. Rachel gets inspired to return to Broadway and get your Tony. And why does all of that stuff happen? Because of Kitty Wild.

[11:33] Andrew: That's so iconic. Thank you so much.

[11:35] Claudia: That's totally perfect.

[11:36] Andrew: I have so many thoughts, questions.

[11:39] Claudia: Yeah, I was already taking a lot of notes and we haven't even started glockening. My notebook is full.

[11:46] Andrew: Okay, who wants to start the discourse on that song?

[11:49] Claudia: As soon as the voice started, I thought it was Abby with like a voice modulator on.

[11:57] Andrew: Like it sounded like Abby's voice, but like taken down an octave. I encourage you to re-listen to that and tell me if you agree.

[12:06] Claudia: Really interesting. Really interesting. Something I did write down in all caps was Left Behind Club. And we're not really talking about that enough. That in of itself is a good kind of motivator for arson and other kinds of violent crime. Because that show was crazy.

[12:23] Andrew: That show was so wild. I feel like people are always like, I love the breakup episode. And then I'm always like, wait a minute, you need to consider the left behind scene. It's devastating.

[12:33] Claudia: It's so sad. Why would they do that? There was no other way. There was no other way to illustrate how Britney felt to Santa Clara. It was a metaphor for people. Open up a book. Crazy.

[12:51] Andrew: No, but I really love the connection. I listened to this when I was in Paris, of course. When I got home very, very late one night. And I saw that I got a notification that a new voicemail has entered the villa. And I listened to it. I got a text. And I listened to it one very early morning. And it was perfect.

[13:15] Claudia: I love the hairspray connection with the fire. I thought that was so smart. And the Quinn, what would Quinn Fabray do? Well scripted also. Very clearly well researched, well written. I hope you get an A on your thesis.

[13:27] Andrew: Oh, I'm going to see it through.

[13:29] Claudia: Yeah. I think I lost it a bit there. Because when he said, what would Quinn Fabray do? I was thinking about how Quinn flicked the cigarette onto the piano. Is that what he meant?

[13:39] Andrew: Yeah, that's what he meant.

[13:43] Claudia: Okay. Okay. When he first said, I know who did it. I thought he was going to say like one of us. I thought he was going to be like Patrick and Claudia. Because we're not the biggest Warbler people. So I was happy that it wasn't us.

[14:06] Patrick: You know, Kitty Wilde, that is good. I thought that was really well thought out.

[14:10] Claudia: Agreed. I don't know. Like it's kind of foolproof, bulletproof. Like there's no way to unpack it in a way to, there's no holes in that. Like I think it's pretty clear.

[14:20] Andrew: But you know, it always did drive me crazy that multiple times in the series, they didn't have enough people for the glee club. And that was a central plot line.

[14:26] Patrick: Yeah, season one.

[14:31] Andrew: Yeah. And they it kept happening over and over again. But it was never a big deal. Again. It was like, we only have nine people going to nationals. We're not. We are not worried about it.

[14:42] Patrick: We only have one week out.

[14:46] Andrew: Yeah.

[14:47] Patrick: We have to write original songs and love New York City.

[14:53] Andrew: No, no. For season five nationals. The three unnamed Cheerios.

[14:59] Claudia: Yeah, iconic.

[15:00] Andrew: Yeah. And the band members. It's the same thing.

[15:04] Patrick: Yeah. They're like, oh, we don't. Kurt and Rachel are like, oh, we only have like seven kids. Like, it's fine. Like it was never a plot point to get more people. So I'm glad that Joseph is playing filled in, filled in like the thing that was always in the back of my head, which is like, how did that happen? That's kind of convenient.

[15:18] Claudia: That Kitty's kind of working inside.

[15:20] Andrew: It was now plot driven.

[15:22] Claudia: Yeah. Finally, we're vindicated. We're vindicated for this.

[15:27] Andrew: I do want to point attention to when Lindsay Heather Pierce was, of course, on this very podcast. She did. We me and Allison revealed to her that Dalton Academy did burn to the ground when talking about the performance rather be. And we did also come up with a theory. Well, Lindsay did that Harmony was actually the person that burnt down Dalton Academy.

[15:44] Claudia: So it's really pick your pick your fighter of like they would be a powerful evil duo, though. Harmony.

[15:50] Andrew: Yeah. That's kind of like a pretty little liars. All along, they were working together and they're somebody's twin.

[15:56] Claudia: Yeah. And they were in love like any would think that they have no connection with each other, but like actually all along.

[16:04] Andrew: Yeah, that's a great point, because like the schemer kind of in the Glee Club was always Santana and replaced by Kitty. It would be fun to have like two schemers in the Glee Club at like the same time.

[16:16] Claudia: I guess other characters like would scheme in different ways, but a Kitty Harmony duo. That sounds really fun.

[16:21] Andrew: Which is why maybe maybe Lindsay had a peer should have won the Glee Project.

[16:32] Claudia: Wait, what are we calling Kitty and Harmony? Are we calling Harmony or her titty?

[16:36] Andrew: It's got to be her titty. That's got to be her titty.

[16:42] Claudia: Yeah. Harmony's best name if we have because we also have wild to play with.

[16:49] Andrew: Well, I think that also in the Lindsay Pierce episode, we asked Lindsay what Harmony's last name is. And I think that she like said like something like Sondheim or something.

[16:55] Claudia: It was like I was going to say Lupin. That's great.

[16:58] Andrew: Yeah, like something like Sondheim, like similar to that.

[17:03] Claudia: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[17:04] Andrew: Yeah. We did not do enough studying for this.

[17:08] Claudia: And if you remember, if you actually remember, you actually should have listened to the Lindsay Pierce episode in preparation for this podcast.

[17:13] Andrew: Yeah. Whoopsies.

[17:15] Claudia: Actually. Anyway, um, do we want to get into grievances? Speaking of homework?

[17:19] Andrew: Homework.

[17:21] Claudia: I also just want to say, from that note, Patrick, that it's insane that we were supposed to have like Santana was the Marley. And remember that in Thanksgiving when they get paired up with people?

[17:32] Andrew: Oh, that's Marley.

[17:33] Claudia: And Quinn gets Kitty. And then they were at odds with each other. Like, that didn't never that never really made sense to me.

[17:39] Andrew: But that was all I want to say. Because we're glad you had their chance to speak your truth about that.

[17:44] Claudia: I just have to say that. That's what's important about this podcast. The Gleeks get to say what needs to be said.

[17:51] Andrew: That Santana and Marley should have really hit it off some more.

[17:56] Claudia: Yeah. Or just not been paired up. Marley should have been a little bit more evil or a little bit more gay or a little bit more Latina. Because all that Quinn had in common with Kitty was that they were blonde and mean and like, okay, that's fine. But then all Marley and Santana had in common with that they were brunettes.

[18:17] Andrew: No, all they had in common was the poop pill thing. That was like a central.

[18:23] Claudia: Brunettes and skinny legend.

[18:25] Andrew: Yeah.

[18:26] Claudia: Um, it would have actually been really fun if Santana kind of taught Marley how to be a little bit more evil or like, yeah, game saying like, that would have been fun.

[18:36] Andrew: Yeah, yeah. That is what I'm saying. Thank you.

[18:39] Claudia: That makes perfect sense. Sorry, I'm mansplaining glee to you. I'm mansplaining your own glee, you know, stuff to you.

[18:46] Andrew: That'll happen a lot on this podcast episode just soon. And I can't wait.

[18:52] Claudia: A glee-splainer.

[18:54] Andrew: A glee-splaining also another title of this, another title of Gleek the Week podcast episode.

[18:57] Claudia: I saw that one scrolling through the feed.

[19:02] Andrew: There's so much pressure now.

[19:04] Claudia: I know, I know. We've really got to come up with a good one this week.

[19:06] Andrew: Wait, I feel like we already kind of did say...

[19:12] Claudia: We said a bunch of things for sure.

[19:13] Andrew: We said one already. I don't know.

[19:15] Claudia: Anyway, speaking of homework.

[19:19] Andrew: Hey!

[19:20] Claudia: Who wants to go first? Who wants to turn in their homework first?

[19:21] Patrick: Me, me, me.

[19:23] Claudia: Okay, go ahead.

[19:25] Patrick: Oh, okay. I actually have more than I thought. And most of them are not that like violent of grievances, but just I would have voted differently, I think.

[19:37] Claudia: Should I start with the most controversial?

[19:41] Patrick: I think I've said it before on the podcast, if not just to you, but Survivor I Will Survive is like not my favorite treble tones number by a long shot.

[19:46] Claudia: And Anyway You Want It, Love and Touch and Squeezing, I love. And that's in my top 25 songs of Glee. So I was really, really sad about that.

[19:57] Andrew: Two things I want to add.

[19:59] Patrick: I was doing a praise emoji or praise emoji.

[20:03] Andrew: Yes. As you were saying that.

[20:05] Patrick: Emoji in real life. Also known as a gesture.

[20:08] Andrew: An emoji based on the emoji.

[20:09] Patrick: And the other thing, you were in around two episodes with Anyway You Want It, Love and Touch and Squeezing, right?

[20:16] Patrick: Yeah.

[20:17] Andrew: Yeah. I can't remember what it sent home. But yeah, so that was really disappointing to me. But also not a surprise because I feel like I know that that's a big one for people. And yeah, that was also one that kind of had a target on its back for me because I was really mad when y'all did the whole cheat of sending Home Paradise just to bring it back. And I was not pleased with that life hack, to say the least.

[20:42] Andrew: I will say that as we're recording this episode, we're still in the midst of a vote for a song to come back. And it does seem as though I think like over 50% Anyway You Want It, Love and Touch and Squeezing will live to see another day.

[21:02] Patrick: So yeah. Which is interesting to me. And I reserve the right to do this. I can be crazy and idiosyncratic if I really want to be. I think right now I'm voting. I think I voted for Call Me Maybe She'll Come Back.

[21:15] Andrew: Song of the Summer.

[21:16] Patrick: Song of the Summer. Someone commented in the Patreon. It was like, I think we all know what to do. What Rachel would have wanted.

[21:18] Andrew: I know what Rachel would have voted for.

[21:24] Patrick: Yeah. That was a hard competition. Because again, big Britney girl.

[21:31] Andrew: Wait, that was Call Me Maybe versus Christmas wrapping?

[21:33] Patrick: Christmas wrapping.

[21:35] Andrew: Yeah. And I want, you know, I want a Britney solo in there. And I do like Christmas wrapping. But Call Me Maybe is also in my top 25. And it's just such a fun number.

[21:40] Patrick: That's one where I love the MP3. I stream it all the time. And the MP4 is also so much fun.

[21:46] Andrew: And again, I'm a season four fan. I love those first few episodes of the season, especially.

[21:55] Patrick: I don't, I don't know, actually, for this competition, which way it would have gone, but too much hate on Dinosaur.

[22:04] Andrew: Okay.

[22:05] Patrick: Yeah. And that was in our last episode.

[22:06] Andrew: Yeah, exactly. That was so sad. Why am I blanking what took out Dinosaur?

[22:10] Patrick: Halo Walking on Sunshine, which I get. That's a classic.

[22:16] Andrew: Yeah, that one also was like, at the subject of the Faithfully versus, I always forget the name of this, I Feel Pretty and Pretty.

[22:24] Patrick: And like, I feel like all those songs like are so monumental to me, like when I kind of think Glee, especially Glee season one, I think about like the journey numbers and like the journey to regionals, whatever.

[22:33] Andrew: And I don't know, I feel like no, there's no hubble hubble loo about those songs, because I think people think there are so many of them.

[22:41] Patrick: And now like Loving, Touching, Squeezing got killed. And it's like-

[22:44] Andrew: No, Loving, Touching, Squeezing is coming back. You can chill, you can chill.

[22:47] Patrick: I am thinking of an early season one rock cover that I am ready to let go of. And maybe you'll agree, maybe you won't.

[22:53] Andrew: Okay.

[22:54] Patrick: Still left in the cup. I'm talking about Alone.

[22:57] Andrew: I kind of like that one.

[22:58] Patrick: It's good. It's-

[23:00] Andrew: It's fine.

[23:01] Patrick: I'm just over it.

[23:02] Andrew: Now we're going to pull it later.

[23:03] Patrick: Yeah.

[23:04] Andrew: Um, okay. So, and then Survivor Mashup, I think I have the same opinion as Claudia. I, I'm not a Gleek who's like, foaming up the mouth for that one. I never was, I never will be, but whatever. Good for the Gleeks that have, that are going to make it the winner of the Glockette for whatever reason.

[23:22] Claudia: Oh my god.

[23:23] Patrick: Oh my god. Wait, do you want to just like get rid of it? Like, honestly, like, I'm actually earnestly asking you, like, do you, would it be more interesting to get rid of it?

[23:28] Andrew: I think that, like, the, um, I, I think that, like, it's getting too much power behind it now.

[23:32] Patrick: Yeah.

[23:33] Andrew: It's like-

[23:34] Patrick: It's like people are, I think people are starting to be like, I love this song because, like, I'm supposed to. It's kind of getting that energy behind it now.

[23:40] Claudia: No, I, can I, as the one actual liker of this song, I guess, in this conversation, I like, literally every time that I watch that performance, I feel, like, invigorated. I feel like there's something about specifically when Santana's, like, marching toward the edge of the stage.

[23:58] Andrew: It's really iconic.

[23:59] Claudia: It's so iconic. And then the, like, the shoulders, I mean, just talking about it, like, I have a smile on my face now. Like, I love it.

[24:05] Patrick: It's fun, yeah.

[24:06] Claudia: It's just like, it keeps killing ones that I think are no brainers that should beat it.

[24:11] Andrew: Yeah.

[24:12] Patrick: And that makes me nervous as a patron, as a contributor, sometimes to this podcast. I'm like, I love this podcast. And then every time that song comes up, it, like, kills something that I like more. So, I don't want to be taken out of the cup by any means. I do love the performance. I'm just kind of like, like, it's, it has too much power in the community than what I think it deserves. And it keeps killing my faves.

[24:40] Andrew: And the fact that it's already canonically brought back Paradise by the Dashboard Light, that it means, like, that means it's better than most of the songs that are left by that logic.

[24:53] Patrick: Yeah.

[24:54] Andrew: Yeah. I mean, that's true. So, yeah.

[24:57] Patrick: But that was a case of it being a...

[30:00] Andrew: Life hack. Everyone's given their opinions about that, but I do get sad when something that's very iconic to me leaves, even if it's going to get brought back, because then it's like, oh, the people don't really actually think this is the best song on Glee because it died. But it's still like, I'm happy that it's back, and I love voting back songs, so blah, blah, blah. We've talked about that before. Anyway, I will say that... Wait, go ahead.

[30:28] Claudia: Oh, I was just going to keep going on my grievances, but feel free.

[30:30] Patrick: No, I was just gonna say that next round, with it being a clean 100, it does lend itself to no songs getting voted back over the course of round four, which is really spooky scary, but also kind of like, okay, let's actually like, let's actually like lock in right now. Let's get serious.

[30:47] Andrew: Let's get serious and like actually decide the best song on Glee.

[30:50] Claudia: I like that for round four, especially. I feel like I wasn't ready for that for round three.

[30:54] Patrick: Yeah, and you did all the polling. I think that was, I think that's the right call.

[30:58] Andrew: Okay. Thank you. All right. Next one was Chris's rapping verse, Call Me Maybe. And I love Call Me Maybe. Same thing, Claudia, like I love the beginning of season four so much. Like it's just kind of like, new and different. And you're like, is this gonna be good? Is this gonna be good? And then it kind of isn't, but it's still...

[31:18] Claudia: I feel like we like it more than most.

[31:19] Patrick: Yeah.

[31:20] Claudia: Well, that was also like, my first year of college was season four. And so genuinely, like, I did kind of relate to like, a lot of them being like, I miss like, my high school theater friends. Like, I feel uncomfortable at college. Like, yeah, I vibe with that. But Christmas rapping, it's just, that's another one where I feel like it got a lot of love on this podcast.

[31:46] Andrew: And so then everyone's like, well, Christmas rapping is iconic. And be sure.

[31:51] Patrick: You think that the Christmas rapping love is fake?

[31:54] Claudia: No, no, I think it's just like, Allison like, bent over backwards to talk about how much she loved that song and stuff. And so now I feel like when it gets pulled through, like, this is like, an iconic song on the podcast. And I'm like, oh, but like, Call Me Maybe was so fun and cute. But I could, I could understand where Christmas rapping went through. I just, I did love Call Me Maybe a lot. And then Chasing Pavements Ain't No Way. There's just something about Chasing Pavements. I think it's because the first time I heard that song was the Glee cover. I wasn't a daydreamer. I do love Adele. But like, I don't know, I really feel like in my adolescence, like, the only songs I knew were songs that were on Glee, or songs that were like, on the radio.

And I feel like Chasing Pavements didn't really hit, like, the radio waves very much. Maybe it did, and I just was listening to a different station. But yeah. And then, so those are most of them. But the one that Claudia didn't say, I'm surprised she didn't. That was really hard for me. Um, I was really sad to lose Take Care of Yourself.

[33:02] Patrick: Yeah. Oh, my lord. Are you being serious? He has the evilest grin on his face. He has the evilest grin. It was so heartbreaking. Um, man, that's heavy. That's heavy. I'm sorry that you had to vote that one out, Andrew. I, listen, I stand on business for what Take Care of Yourself did to come see about me. And I, again, I don't, I don't care about what happened to it most recently. I'm sorry. I'm not bringing anything from the past up. I was just saying that I'm sad to see that one go. I'm not bringing it up. Why would I bring stuff from the past up right now? That's not at all what I talk about ever.

[33:41] Claudia: I also want to bring up two legal notes in response to the previous episode. People have been pointing to that, that Conor Allison and I were hating on Millennials. Um, in the episode. I saw that in a Patreon. And I was like, no, it's okay. I understand why you thought that we were hating on Millennials. I understand that we actually are Millennials all three of the people in the conversation. It's, um, it's self hating. It's it's self hate. Yeah, self deprecation. Yeah. And then also I received a voicemail talking about the Damien McGinty street team. Someone else is also part of that Facebook group who sent a voicemail in and they said that that was an indeed a real thing that happened to Damien that he did lose.

[34:25] Andrew: Oh, some of they were asking for why am I laughing? I'm not laughing. I just think it's funny the whole trajectory of this story. Um, that you know, they were actually asking for donations. Oh my god, that's horrible. So well, clear that up.

[34:51] Patrick: The one thing that always bothered me is that in the Glee project, they're like, all these like unknown people. And like, I'm from an Irish family. And like, we we watched the PBS Celtic Thunder special. Oh my god, every frickin year. And so then I was like, what do you mean? Damien is like this kid from Ireland, like no one knows him. Like he's relatively famous in his own country.

[35:15] Claudia: No, there was a girl at my high school that was like fully obsessed with Irish culture that was like freaking out over Damien being part of the Glee project.

[35:26] Patrick: Yeah. It's insane. He came to the mall by my house and my friend to shop.

[35:37] Andrew: That's awesome. Yeah. To shop. What? To shop? Oh, to like, to be Damien McEntee. Yeah. Oh, to take care of yourself. Not just anyone can do it. To take care of yourself. Anyway. Um, what are we what are we hoping to see in this episode of the four songs? Do we have any manifestations here?

[35:49] Claudia: I do. I was listening to the remaining songs playlist and I was getting hit after hit. Yeah. Namely, I think the first one I got was Nutbush.

[36:02] Patrick: Oh, which I would just love to watch that those girls do their thing. Yeah, at this time. That's something I liked. Patrick, let's see you.

[36:08] Patrick: Um, I don't know. I didn't listen to the remaining songs. I feel like my memory in general and life has been getting not as good. So I'm afraid to be like, I hope this song gets pulled. You're gonna be like that. That is actually an episode one. Or the worst parts is in round three. I've been like, I want to pull this song or like what happened to this song? You're like Patrick Bowses in the last episode. And I'm like, oh, that's not good. So I'll hold my Do you want to just like a general? Um, I would like, you know, I always like group numbers. Um, I feel like the chasing pavements verse ain't no way thing, in a sense, it's like, a lot of times I don't go wild over like, a solo solo. Like, I know chasing pavements is a solo for Marley.

But you know, the rest of the glee club is there. And you know, doing the vocals in the background, and they're dancing and having fun. I don't know, I just kind of, when I think glee, I think group numbers, I think like actual glee club, doing their little competitions and stuff like that. So as we get further into the rounds, I feel like I might start campaigning for, like group numbers really heavily over even iconic solos. Because I don't know, I think that like the best song on glee should be a glee club number, or at least I would hope that some of those get pretty far.

[37:45] Claudia: Yeah. So yeah, I, I do love a group number. I love a competition number. So yeah, that's what I'm manifesting.

[37:52] Andrew: Okay, perfect. I kind of love good ones. I the more than words be okay, last time pisses me off. I want something that was wild. You know, Claudia, I was gonna say you had like some like really tough moments, I feel like in your episodes and like just other competitions. Like when the dinosaur got pulled, I was like, Oh, no, Claudia, you're gonna be sad.

[38:07] Claudia: I was really sad. And I'm always texting Andrew. And I'm like, you suck. Wow, this is really insane for a first song. I think I'm scared.

[38:19] Andrew: Oh my god, I think everyone I need. I have a really fun thing to say about this. And you're gonna know what exactly what it is. Oh, I really love playing this game. Oh my god. God. It is lose my breath. Well, this song is like, progressively getting better for me. At first, I was a hater. I'm really seeing the light now. There's nothing wrong with it. There's nothing wrong with it. It's not fine to say. This is good. It's not perfect. It's set out to do the thing that it did. And they did it.

[39:02] Claudia: Was that that really fun thing you wanted to say about this? That was really, really fun thing. You're like, it is okay. No, I've been dying to talk about Josie Toda on Kevin and Jenna's podcast. Yeah, just like, the legend that she is. She was like telling this story about how Lea Michele came up to her on set one day and was like, Josie, what's your favorite musical? And Josie was like, I don't really know, I guess like Chicago. And Lea Michele says, I don't like that one. And then walks away.

[39:37] Patrick: I didn't listen to that episode.

[39:49] Claudia: It was so funny. I was listening on my AirPods, and then I needed to play it on the HomePod mini for Elias to also hear it.

[39:55] Andrew: Wait, wait, what were Jenna and Kevin's reaction to that?

[40:01] Claudia: They never say anything to those sort of things. So funny.

[40:06] Patrick: That is so funny.

[40:11] Andrew: Yeah, this is one that I think, as I was kind of talking about my grievances, where I think sometimes like how we talk about it on the glacket, like kind of adds like some lore to it. Like, I think this one kind of has some lore to it now, where, you know, the actors who played Roderick and Spencer. Yeah, right. Yeah, like they, like King Neligus went through. Yeah. And then, you know, I think it was in kind of a wonky competition last round, too. Or okay, so the first round or something.

[40:42] Claudia: Lore recap, lore recap. In round one, it was we were testing out a way of doing an episode, Allison and I, where if we disagreed on a competition, then we would call people that agreed to be kind of lifelines. And so it was a competition of Lose My Breath versus Dream a Little Dream, the artolo from season one, which like, I know, that's crazy. I voted for Dream a Little Dream. And then Allison was like, I'm going to lose my breath. And we were like, okay, we need to call Alayna, Queen of My Life Alayna. And Alayna was like, oh, yeah, definitely lose my breath. And I was like, what? And then Lose My Breath was in the Marshall Williams, Noah Guthrie episode against Give Up the Funk, another season one banger. And so Lose My Breath is kind of eating it up. It's crazy.

[41:45] Patrick: Well, I really did like that one. And I, I think that I've talked about this before, but as I do rewatch as a season five and six, I kind of stopped looking at them as narrative, like, is this song like, or this episode, like fitting the overall narrative of the show, but like, a lot of them weren't, and it was like, kind of sloppy that way. But the actual work that they were doing and like the performances and things like were still really fun to me.

[42:17] Claudia: Yeah, I remember being annoyed that there was like a little kid on the show. And then now I'm looking back and I'm like, this is hilarious. I see the vision.

[42:25] Andrew: Yeah, I see the vision. The season six, like, subplots that were not like, Rachel and Kurt are leaving the Glee Club and finding their place. Every other subplot is hilarious. Specifically, when I was watching this, I was just thinking about the fact that they like, forced all of the adults to participate in this bar mitzvah.

[42:47] Patrick: Yeah, the bar mitzvah performance and how it was like, it was so funny. It's just I love describing this jigsaw live bear in the apartment. Like, I just love describing that to people because it sounds like I made it up.

[43:05] Andrew: That is the kind of thing that I that's my sense of humor. My sense of humor is bear in the apartment. Child singing Destiny's Child.

[43:12] Claudia: Yeah, like, yeah, okay. I'm, I'm in for that. I'm really in for that. And I rewatched season six. Most recently, like a couple years ago. Oh, no, maybe like a year ago. And it wasn't like hard to get through. Like, it's funny.

[43:27] Patrick: I will say that I watched this episode maybe maybe a year ago as well. Child Star. It's a rough watch for me personally.

[43:37] Andrew: I'm gonna I'm gonna say the the climbing the rope could have done without it. I could have done without it. But I like all the rehearsal of the adults. That stuff's really funny to me.

[43:45] Claudia: They got a writer from Dog with a Blog in for that episode.

[43:49] Patrick: They must have.

[43:50] Claudia: They did. Because Josie was at Disney at the time.

[43:52] Andrew: Right. Yeah.

[43:53] Patrick: Yep.

[43:53] Claudia: Josie. I remember her from Josie.

[43:56] Andrew: Yeah.

[43:57] Patrick: Okay, wait. So who did Josie play in Josie? Josie, Josie.

[44:00] Claudia: Josie, Josie. One of the kid's friends.

[44:03] Patrick: Yeah, like, Sky Jackson's friend.

[44:05] Claudia: Well, that was like, her one sided love interest for Sky Jackson was like, get away from me.

[44:13] Patrick: She's funny.

[44:15] Andrew: That's the queen of my life, Sky Jackson.

[44:19] Claudia: No, she does not.

[44:20] Patrick: Now that we're a member of Broadway Podcast Network, that's all gonna change.

[44:23] Andrew: No, Sky Jackson on the Broadway podcast.

[44:26] Claudia: Do you remember in I would be very surprised not to brag about like, remember this if you probably don't. Sky Jackson during the pandemic, that her and her mom would go on Instagram Live and host talent shows where they would invite. Do you remember this?

[44:43] Patrick: No, I don't. I don't know this lore. I don't know her like taking down Azalea Banks.

[44:47] Andrew: Yeah, didn't she go to jail?

[44:49] Claudia: She did for like domestic abuse.

[44:52] Patrick: Oh, no, no, no, no. Her man did.

[44:54] Claudia: No, I think she did.

[44:55] Patrick: I thought she went to jail.

[44:56] Claudia: Sky Jackson did too?

[44:59] Patrick: I thought her man was bad news.

[45:01] Claudia: Anyway, her and her mom would host like talent shows on Instagram Live. And then like, very frequently, the talents would not be great. And then they would leave and then would still publicly like laugh at the person after they left.

[45:16] Patrick: That's really bad.

[45:18] Claudia: I wonder if Sky Jackson has seen the episode of Glee child star. Do you think Sky Jackson sat down and watched it and was like, I'm friends with Josie.

[45:27] Andrew: I think so.

[45:28] Claudia: I'll look.

[45:29] Patrick: Yeah, I think Debi Ryan has seen that.

[45:32] Andrew: I don't. I don't think Debi Ryan was like too busy being crazy, like doing something.

[45:38] Claudia: Making history.

[45:39] Andrew: Making history.

[45:42] Patrick: Go ahead.

[45:43] Claudia: Oh yeah, you're talking about like this episode and kind of how it was rough. I mean, I think that like, what I didn't like is like, I watched that performance. And I'm like, that is so fun. Josie did such a good job. Not to say Josie didn't do a good job for the rest of the episode. But I hate it when Myron was like screaming and yelling and stuff. I was like, this isn't like that funny. I'm like, it's season six. And I'm like, there's quite a bit more stuff I want to see from a lot of the characters that I have episodes left to see. And I'm getting Josie Toda screaming at Sue Sylvester. This, this could be a little bit better.

[46:16] Andrew: No, but watching that performance in a vacuum is a ton of fun.

[46:19] Claudia: No, but I think it's like kind of like, inherently Glee to be like, we have four episodes left in the series. Let's introduce a 13 year old child and let them sing a Destiny's Child song. And like, let them have like the, the eight like what B plot of this episode? I don't even know.

[46:36] Patrick: Yeah.

[46:37] Andrew: I don't even know. I want to take this time to say that I think it's weird that people are always like, and people are you, Andrew. Season six newbies are more interesting and more compelling than the season four newbies. I love Claudia. I love you. I love you so much. I find it insane.

[46:55] Patrick: We I get that it's like, not their fault. But like, we don't know anything about them besides the like, random, weird little bits. They all like, nothing on the actors, but it's just like, I don't care about them at all.

[47:10] Andrew: Not find it.

[47:12] Patrick: No, I love Noah Guthrie as a performer and a human.

[47:17] Claudia: I like Kitty.

[47:18] Patrick: She's season four. They don't give them any give them no emotional death.

[47:23] Andrew: I guess she she's lacking that. Her whole thing is what she has one thing. And I think that she was like, she's an incredibly talented singer. And I would have liked to see more of like Samantha Ware.

[47:36] Claudia: Yeah.

[47:36] Patrick: On my TV.

[47:38] Andrew: Yeah, like I don't think inherently her character is really that interesting.

[47:42] Patrick: No, and there I know you can't say that jobs.

[47:46] Andrew: No, why?

[47:47] Patrick: Jane in her debut episode, I remember being kind of like, shaken to my core a little bit watching that episode being like, wow, this is kind of really interesting. What a big swing Glee's final season to be like, female warbler vibes. Like I wasn't even thinking about that, you know?

[48:05] Claudia: And now here she is.

[48:07] Patrick: But all that was was the one episode.

[48:09] Andrew: But I know. Yeah, that's my issue. And like, again, not like, not the characters are not real.

[48:15] Patrick: Oh, that is good.

[48:17] Andrew: All of her singing is great. It's just like, anytime I have any emotional connection to any of those characters, it's for like, one episode, and then they move on so fast. Versus like, yeah, whatever the season for our different like, characters, types that we had in the earlier seasons and like are in a different way. But like, I don't know, it could just be a product of them having more time together. But like, I did care if Marley ended up with Ryder or Jake. I don't, I don't really know why. But I did.

[48:49] Patrick: What was Marley? What do the people say that Marley was recycled from?

[48:54] Andrew: She's supposed to be the new Rachel.

[48:55] Patrick: But like, she's not like Rachel.

[48:58] Claudia: She was like, kind of like more like Mercedes.

[49:01] Patrick: Kind of. Just like kind of like a closet, like she wanted to be.

[49:08] Andrew: She didn't want to be like, she's Tina.

[49:11] Patrick: Oh, she's Tina, but we already have Tina.

[49:13] Claudia: Kitty was a clone, but was still really fun. Ryder was a clone-ish of Finn. But he had dyslexia and was transphobic. Don't worry.

[49:21] Andrew: Oh yeah. And then Jake, Jake did kind of piss me off because I really liked the actor and like, whatever. But it was like, his whole thing was like, I'm not going to be my brother. And I'm like, okay, then don't be and then do something else.

[49:36] Patrick: Oh, the fact that he ends his entire character arc, just like being his brother that he never met until Glee Club. He's like, I don't want to be like him.

[49:46] Andrew: You don't know.

[49:46] Patrick: Wait, no, he didn't want to be like his dad.

[49:48] Andrew: Legal note.

[49:49] Patrick: Legal note.

[49:50] Andrew: Legal note, Mr. Puckerman.

[49:54] Patrick: Yeah. It was that character was weird and seemed like a excuse to write in a lot of weird jokes about being biracial. I remember those a lot.

[50:02] Andrew: I remember those.

[50:05] Patrick: I remember those a lot. How sincerely he was like, I like don't fit in with the Jewish kids.

[50:12] Claudia: Yeah.

[50:13] Patrick: And then Cookie from Ned's Declassified is roasting him.

[50:16] Andrew: Yeah. I always forget that that was Cookie.

[50:20] Patrick: It's crazy.

[50:22] Andrew: The guy with the crazy hair.

[50:25] Patrick: Coconut head?

[50:26] Andrew: Yeah.

[50:28] Claudia: Wait, can we talk about Ned's Declassified really quick?

[50:30] Andrew: I love that show.

[50:31] Patrick: I'm going to make a Ned's Declassified podcast.

[50:34] Claudia: Their podcast was really good for a few episodes. And then I got kind of freaky. And then everyone online was like, they're being freaky. And I'm like, they were. But I rewatched all of Ned's Declassified because of that podcast. And it's a great show.

[50:45] Andrew: It was a great show. Legal note.

[50:48] Patrick: Legal, what do you want to say?

[50:49] Andrew: Bring me back to Glee. I was just, I wasn't really bringing it. I was kind of bringing it back to Glee, but also bringing it back to more like Gleek of the Week podcast and also Pretty Little Liars. Because she is the lesbian of Pretty Little Liars.

[51:02] Claudia: Why am I blanking on her actress's name?

[51:04] Patrick: Lindsay Shaw.

[51:05] Andrew: I know I'm a non-Nickelodeon. That's really good. And of course, you know, congratulations to us.

[51:13] Claudia: And she dates Shay Mitchell, Pretty Little Liars.

[51:16] Patrick: Uh-huh.

[51:16] Andrew: That is not Shay Mitchell in Womanizer, Andrew.

[51:19] Patrick: Oh! For sure not.

[51:21] Andrew: Wait, no, no, no. Because I remember like looking it up and seeing that like, I thought Jacob Artis and Shay Mitchell were kind of dating at that time.

[51:29] Patrick: That's possible, but it's just not her.

[51:31] Andrew: Because I remember the first time you guys talked about it on the podcast, I went and watched it. And as I'm alluding to in this episode specifically, Glee, Pretty Little Liars were my, that was my life. I had a Pretty Little Liars fan account where I sometimes dabbled in Glee edits as well.

[51:45] Claudia: Right.

[51:45] Andrew: And I'm like, I know that girl and that is not her. So I just wanted to clear that up.

[51:50] Patrick: And we feel confident about that.

[51:52] Andrew: That's definitely not Shay Mitchell. I should have looked at it again since listening to last week's episode. But I remember when I looked it up, I was very confident.

[52:01] Claudia: I trust you with Aretha Franklin and I trust you with Shay Mitchell.

[52:04] Andrew: That actually means everything to me. And do I trust you with Lose My Breath?

[52:12] Patrick: Wait, circle back to that.

[52:13] Andrew: Sorry, what? Can we circle back to a Glee related topic? But like, yeah, I feel like there are so many, there are so many people who are on the podcast who are vehemently agree with you, Andrew.

[52:27] Patrick: Yeah, the season four people suck.

[52:29] Andrew: Yeah, season six was so interesting and iconic and eye opening. And I'm kind of like, you're giving it a little too much credit. Like, I enjoyed it. But I don't, I don't get the hate for season four. Like, in a sense, like, I kind of needed, like, an anchor at McKinley of like, kind of same old, same old, because New York was getting so freaking crazy.

[52:48] Patrick: I didn't mind that, like, they had Ryder and Kitty as kind of like stand ins for Quinn.

[52:54] Andrew: Well, I guess like, they're still interesting stuff. It just became kind of too like, teen, teen drama-y.

[52:58] Patrick: That's what I'm thinking.

[53:01] Andrew: In like, a less interesting way.

[53:04] Patrick: Yeah. But they were doing the unique stuff. They were doing storylines that just like, didn't, they didn't take anywhere. So I feel like it's less about the newbies as characters sucking, and more about like, the writers just like, were overwhelmed and like, weren't doing enough to propel any interesting story that they started further.

[53:24] Andrew: Well, I agree with that. That's like, like, that's not the characters fault of being like, characters weren't boring. The fact that they were boring is not why the school shooting episode was insane. Like, that's just actually not it.

[53:38] Patrick: Well, I just don't like that there was like, such a clear divide in season four and five with like, okay, we have this side of the Glee Club that has their storylines. And then this other side of the Glee Club of characters that we've known, you know, we have the Brittany, Blaine, Sam, Artie, Tina, you know, in the very, very few times would they kind of like, go over.

[54:03] Andrew: Intersect.

[54:03] Patrick: Intersect.

[54:05] Andrew: But that was, yeah. But if the season six newbies had been put in the same position as the season four, the same thing would have happened. I don't, I don't see like, Sam talking to a postmodern gay and being like, we have to have a storyline together.

[54:21] Patrick: I kind of like our vibe.

[54:23] Andrew: I think it was interesting that the way that they would like, you know, who's to say if we would have had evil diva, mean girl, Tina, without the season four newbies, like she was like, the conduit or they were like the conduit for her being like, pissed off. And she wasn't evil, but whatever.

[54:34] Patrick: Like, I thought it was interesting.

[54:35] Andrew: Like, I thought they were almost like a foil for that did. That did piss me off watching it live season four that I was at the very beginning. I was like, okay, I get it. We need to establish these characters. But we need to give Tina a plot.

[54:49] Patrick: And we didn't get a Tina plot until Sadie Hawkins.

[54:58] Andrew: We didn't get anything. Tina, Tina Cohen Chang until then. Sure. And that's one plot more than in season six.

[55:08] Patrick: Right.

[55:09] Andrew: Mike that Chang.

[55:11] Patrick: Mike that Chang.

[55:11] Andrew: Oh, that's what you're doing. At the wedding. She and Quinn talked to Becky that one time.

[55:18] Patrick: They did.

[55:19] Andrew: And she had the rental car. Do you remember that? When she's a rental car?

[55:23] Patrick: Yeah.

[55:23] Andrew: So Tina had quite a bit to do. She actually had a lot. She was actually the main character of season six. When you actually look, look at it.

[55:31] Patrick: Okay, we can we can wrap this up. But come on, already kitty dating. Like they had interactions.

[55:36] Claudia: Oh, it was fun and interesting.

[55:38] Patrick: Okay, wait, but that's interesting. Kitty.

[55:42] Claudia: Kitty, but like Kitty is the she's the one that can go into any group and vibe. She's that one friend.

[55:48] Patrick: Kitty is the glue of Glee.

[55:49] Claudia: Kitty really is the glue of Glee.

[55:51] Andrew: Kitty, Kitty, if you didn't show up, Quinn would have died in a wheelchair.

[56:09] Patrick: She would have died.

[56:10] Andrew: And Becky would be pregnant.

[56:12] Claudia: Oh my god. Um, okay, wait, uh, lose my breath. Um, I want to bring up something because I have a good feeling that lose my breath. This is the last time that we will watch this performance.

[56:23] Patrick: I'm gonna pull Rather Be.

[56:24] Andrew: Not Rather Be.

[56:25] Patrick: I meant Be Okay, but.

[56:27] Claudia: Be Okay. Yeah. I remember being on the Glee Wiki during season six. And I remember someone proposed that Myron should sing Human by Christina Perri. And now every time that I listen to this, you know, the song, and I'm only human. That had a chokehold on me.

[56:48] Andrew: Oh, it's a great song.

[56:50] Claudia: But every time I listen to it, got to think of that baby boy Myron.

[56:55] Patrick: And put AI to use. After that episode where you talked about Glee, I went on a crazy YouTube rabbit hole looking at it all. It was so scary. And they all have like 17 views. There's so many accounts.

[57:10] Andrew: There's so many.

[57:12] Claudia: So scary. It got a mind of its own.

[57:15] Patrick: Yeah. And then also people have been kind of, I don't know how many people are doing this, but people have been wanting or like thinking that this song in this round will be against Crush as a chaotic competition.

[57:30] Andrew: That would be chaotic.

[57:31] Patrick: Because Crush beat Felice Navidad or something, right?

[57:34] Claudia: That was Alyssa's competition.

[57:35] Andrew: Okay. So yeah. Any final notes about Lose My Breath?

[57:45] Patrick: Nah.

[57:46] Andrew: No. That's it. We'll see. I really hope it's not a stupid throwaway song. I feel like we need a few throwaways.

[57:56] Claudia: That was not a good face.

[57:57] Patrick: Otherwise it'll be too scary.

[58:00] Andrew: Patrick, you have been here for the song before. Based on that face that I was, how would you describe that face?

[58:08] Patrick: You were kind of like, not, you're kind of like, this isn't iconic.

[58:13] Andrew: Yeah. I was thinking that it was like, we don't have to worry about.

[58:17] Patrick: Oh, I wasn't really looking at Andrew.

[58:20] Andrew: Oh, it's just like such a vibe shift in conversation wise.

[58:23] Patrick: Oh god, I don't want it.

[58:24] Andrew: Oh, is it like a sad song?

[58:28] Claudia: Okay, just play it.

[58:29] Andrew: I will deal with it. I'll deal with it.

[58:32] Patrick: No.

[58:33] Andrew: I'm only human.

[58:34] Claudia: Oh.

[58:36] Andrew: Okay. Well, we'll talk about it.

[58:41] Patrick: Okay. Here's Cough Syrup.

[58:44] Claudia: Okay. Every time that we pull this song.

[58:48] Andrew: Yeah.

[58:49] Claudia: It sucks to watch that.

[58:51] Andrew: It's kind of isolated.

[58:52] Claudia: Yeah. At least when you're watching the episode, you're like, okay. But then like, we're having fun. And it's like, oh, let's watch Cough Syrup.

[58:59] Andrew: Harrowing.

[59:00] Claudia: Yeah. I haven't watched that in a long time. When do you think the last time that you watched it was?

[59:05] Patrick: I don't know. Like, maybe in like an absent-minded rewatch of the show. Like, again, like in the context of watching the whole thing.

[59:14] Andrew: But I forgot a lot about...

[59:18] Patrick: I don't know. I don't forget about this plot. But I think I kind of, I do. It's like one of the heaviest that maybe sometimes I don't actively like feel those strong emotions at the top of my list because I think of like, you know, the quarterbacks or the...

[59:36] Andrew: Beautiful Naya moments that make me sad. Like, I don't think about this as much because of that, maybe.

[59:40] Patrick: But it's fucking well done.

[59:44] Andrew: Really?

[59:45] Patrick: Yeah.

[59:47] Andrew: Go ahead.

[1:00:00] Andrew: That he did for this scene. And like the fact that like, I forget who directed this episode specifically, but like he was just like, given kind of just like room to just like, ruminate in Karofsky's bedroom. And it's just like, a really, really nice introspective of, like, how he got that performance. And so I don't know. He does a really, really great job. I just asked Google AI who directed it and it worked. And it's Brad Beaker. Oh, there we go. Because I was thinking the same thing about just like, really well directed and also edited. And I feel like that's something that like, I have no idea who, I don't know who the editors on Glee are. Like, I like, that's not something I've ever thought about.

And it's like, the splicing between the performance and the scene is really well balanced in a way that I think in different hands, maybe like could feel like the gravity of it would be kind of thrown off if it was like, I don't know. Like, it doesn't feel silly that, you know, you're seeing Kurt sitting there in that little chair and like being sung to like, and I feel like it could. I don't know. It was really. And I don't think I never noticed when he's looking up at the planes hanging from the ceiling. That made my stomach drop. Like, I don't think I've ever noticed that.

[1:01:27] Claudia: Yeah. I feel like Elias and I have like, a few times now. We'll just study Kurovsky's room. We'll just be like, this set design is like really specific.

[1:01:34] Patrick: Yeah. And it's like. You can tell that, like, from what I'm understanding, audience watching it is that like, this is once a young boy's room, but Kurovsky doesn't like really care to kind of like update it. He's just like kind of just like continuing like the planes. There are other things in there that like are like adolescent. And I just think it's really I don't know. That set really tells a story within itself, I feel.

[1:02:10] Andrew: I totally agree. I always think about it that way.

[1:02:14] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:02:15] Patrick: It's eerie. It makes it extra sad. The dark paneling in there, like.

[1:02:19] Andrew: The beams.

[1:02:20] Patrick: Yeah. Yeah.

[1:02:21] Andrew: It's yeah. Very, very thoughtful. Well, I'm so happy I'm the guest who's had to do this twice.

[1:02:27] Claudia: Yeah. Nice. Now, I mean, it's like a really I think like when you're when you look at that and then you look at like the Myron thing, it's just like it just gives you kind of a whiplash for one. But then, too, when you think about like the whole show, it's just like crazy how much they covered and how serious it got and how silly and stupid it got.

[1:02:53] Patrick: So, yeah, I'll say something minor and kind of stupid about this. But the guy who plays Nick, like the bully.

[1:03:02] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:03:03] Patrick: Kowalski. For the first time, I've been watching the show Community, which is like an NBC show with Donald Glover and stuff. And he was a pizza delivery guy. And I was like, it's Nick from Glee! I would not recognize him.

[1:03:14] Claudia: It's Kowalski's bully.

[1:03:18] Patrick: Yeah. So I recognized him. And then, yeah, I mean, to make it a little bit lighter, I mean, it's part of me can't help but think about how Blaine's singing this song about his future boyfriend.

[1:03:32] Andrew: Bear in the apartment.

[1:03:38] Patrick: So bear in the apartment.

[1:03:40] Andrew: So bear in the apartment.

[1:03:42] Patrick: So I'll keep my comments to that. Keep it a little bit lighter. I. This maybe can just be like a transitional tone. I feel like it's an interesting thing to think about the way that earlier seasons balanced the heavy and the light really well. Like, I'm I when you said that, I started thinking about like another really heavy episode. Grilled cheeses from like earlier on, but is also like so funny and stupid. Like, that's another plot that I love explaining. It's like he saw Jesus in his panini press. And I'm like, I don't know. I usually think of my guess. It's like let me just think of it this way. And he's like, and there's Jesus on the panini press. And I think perfect. I prefer a heavier episode than a funnier episode of clay.

[1:04:34] Claudia: I feel like I'll like often have to remind like Elias or Allison that like on my way, like all of the things that happen specifically in this episode, that it's like you surely isn't the same episode that they go to regionals and surely isn't the car crash episode, you know.

[1:04:56] Patrick: But like it's all in there.

[1:04:57] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:04:58] Patrick: Yeah. I mean, I don't want to minimize this episode. I just like I've talked about how like it has made me feel in the past. Stuff like that. But yeah, like Glee has a balancing issue. But it's it's interesting. I think that sometimes when I'm on this podcast and you're watching the performance of something in a vacuum, it elicits like sometimes like a little bit of a different feeling or we're also like hyper focused on the performance because that's the one thing that we're doing. We're not doing an absent minded rewatch. We're like looking for things to talk about. And it kind of just it changes the way that like your brain, I think, interprets the song or like has feelings about the song and stuff like that.

[1:05:48] Claudia: So, yeah, the one thing I guess I'll say, though, is like at some point like this is kind of going to be one of the songs similar in a fashion, not completely the same as like, you know, if I die young or some of the other quarterback songs.

[1:06:03] Andrew: Oh, you think so?

[1:06:05] Claudia: To a degree where it's like obviously it's not the same. Like, yeah, the actor is not gay in real life and didn't try to commit suicide. Whatever. Like that didn't happen as opposed to like those characters.

[1:06:19] Patrick: Yeah, right, right, right.

[1:06:20] Claudia: Yeah. But like this is I don't know. Do I want to be talking about this around five and six and like being like putting this up against like Survivor mashup and being like, oh, let's duke it out, guys. Like at some point, like, I feel like that's a good point. Certain level of heaviness where I'm like, yeah, is this one going to when can we like respectfully say goodbye to cough syrup?

[1:06:44] Andrew: Yeah, I'm not saying it has to be now or whatever. I'm just like, well, I feel pretty confident that it's not going to be now. But yeah, I'm like, I don't know. It's like, do I particularly want to draw this for a third time? You, Andrew, for a fourth time.

[1:07:00] Patrick: It's I'll go ahead and say a great, great song, great performance. I remember being like a young, young girl stream in that. I also liked the original as a result of Glee. And I feel like I listen to a song all the time. And I didn't I didn't necessarily associate it with the heaviness. I think when I when I hear the song, like I don't hear the song and have to skip it the way I have to skip like if I die young.

[1:07:30] Claudia: Sure. Yeah, sure.

[1:07:31] Andrew: And I don't want to say that they're like the same.

[1:07:33] Patrick: No, but I think that makes sense. Everybody already hates you. It's fine.

[1:07:36] Andrew: I said something like a survivor mashup. I really have to but yeah, I really like this one and I am a blow magnet. There's always a bleak, bleak. I remember the episode. This is a really great one. Like, I do really like the song. I'll stream this. Like, I do have a Glee kind of a half hearted Glee playlist that I made like around season four where I put like a bunch of my favorite Glee songs in it. And then I never finished it or I've not really revisited it. But I'll revisit listening, just not revisit like putting Glee songs in there. Hops here is for sure. And there it's it's a great song. It's a great cover. I think Darren did an awesome job. Again, it falls into the category, Andrew, that you've been bringing up in recent episodes of let's try this out for a competition. And I think nothing ever happens to it.

[1:08:30] Claudia: Wait, wait, wait, wait. What are you talking? It's referenced as Blaine starts it off.

[1:08:35] Andrew: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's do this at regionals.

[1:08:39] Claudia: And then, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:08:41] Andrew: But yeah, I it's a great. Piece of Glee lore history, it's a great song and moment.

[1:08:54] Patrick: I'm trying to get rid of all of these pop ups that just came up on my computer. There's so many every like once a month, I'll get like like 100 pop ups all in one. OK, and that's the last one. OK, I wanted to see how many Blaine songs we have currently in round four. So we have two blow loads. Pretty much assume that this is also continuing on.

[1:09:25] Claudia: One last thing I want to say about Gough syrup. Maybe this is OK in high school. I remember watching this episode and I'm able to look back and laugh now. I Mandela effect myself. I'm not even actually sure what actually happened in our reality. But when Kowalski went to the locker room and saw Fagg written on his locker. I remember being like that happened to me and I'm not actually sure if it did.

[1:10:03] Andrew: I do. I do remember. Now, is this crazy to be saying this story?

[1:10:10] Claudia: No, it's you being yourself. I think it could have happened. I think that it could have happened.

[1:10:17] Patrick: I don't think that it did.

[1:10:19] Andrew: I do remember specifically. I do remember specifically that, like, there was a day looking back. This is so crazy. There was a day that I went into the locker room after school to get ready for for track practice. And there was a day and there was a sandwich that was thrown like a jelly sandwich that was thrown at my locker. And so there was like jelly all over my locker. And I remember thinking, like, oh, my God, someone's targeting me, even though I'm like, now I'm looking back and I'm like, they probably just threw the sandwich and it just went on to my locker.

[1:11:00] Claudia: No, Andrew, I think you're mixing that up with your real life experience of seeing the face of Jesus in that sand.

[1:11:04] Andrew: Yeah, yeah. The F slur was not written on your locker. No. Mixing it up. OK, people are going to, like, call me out for trying to be a victim when I wasn't being. No, I just want not to not to brag, but they did write mean things about me in high school in the in the bathroom stalls. I will say that's not nice. That's not nice. So, like, I'm there there were kind of a. There was that did actually happen to an extent, maybe not the locker specifically. Maybe that was exclusively Kowalski. I hope it didn't happen. But, you know, I believe, you know, I believe that it was hard being a young being a teen gay without the bully whips in the hallways protecting you, you know, without fear of violence.

[1:12:10] Patrick: Yeah, I think you actually also were confusing this for the time that there was a bear in your apartment as well.

[1:12:15] Andrew: Oh, that's right. I don't actually know if that happened to me or if that happened to Kowalski. A lot of things that could have happened. I need to rewatch that. Was that a really crazy story to tell? Does everyone hate me now?

[1:12:30] Claudia: I don't think anyone would hate me for that.

[1:12:32] Andrew: No!

[1:12:33] Patrick: I get that.

[1:12:34] Andrew: No one would hate that for you. I mean, maybe I'm blocking it out. I was going to say, again, I hope that didn't happen. But like, you know, things that are bad and scary, like either not remembering them happen at all, mixing up the details, not, you know, I've been there.

[1:12:50] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:12:51] Andrew: I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I think it's OK. It's just the way you said it was crazy.

[1:12:55] Claudia: OK, maybe it wasn't. OK, fine. I have been called slurs. I've been called that one specifically. If you want to know the truth.

[1:13:01] Patrick: Low-key, crazier of you to just say the whole word on this Glee podcast, actually. That was crazier than you telling the story.

[1:13:06] Andrew: Wait, I'm not allowed to say that one.

[1:13:08] Claudia: No, you're not.

[1:13:09] Andrew: Wait, are we talking about the G slur, Gleek?

[1:13:11] Claudia: Gay.

[1:13:12] Andrew: Yes.

[1:13:13] Claudia: Wait, what did I say?

[1:13:14] Andrew: I think that's what I was just saying. Do we want to vote between lose my breath? Oh, my God. I forgot we're doing that. Also, I've been drawing a really beautiful picture of you guys that maybe I'll wait till the end to show you.

[1:13:25] Patrick: Oh, yay. Carousel. Edition maybe number I'm going to say three. Speaking of how we look, I did take a screenshot of you guys when we were watching Lose My Breath and you guys were frowning.

[1:13:36] Claudia: I lose my breath.

[1:13:38] Andrew: I'm smiling like this is fun. And I looked at you guys. Claudia was like, this is exhausting. And Andrew was like had like a worried look in his face.

[1:13:44] Andrew: I don't want to talk about that. That's not how I felt. That's just funny. I also that's how you looked. Unplugging my my wired headphones to charge my iPad anytime a song is playing. So I hope we get a long one next.

[1:14:01] Patrick: Oh, like Bohemian Rhapsody, maybe.

[1:14:03] Andrew: Wait, before we get into the next song, which will be Bohemian Rhapsody, we have to vote. We have to.

[1:14:10] Claudia: OK, just for Elijah's records. Come on. Yeah, I know. Cough syrup is my vote.

[1:14:13] Patrick: Cough syrup is cough syrup.

[1:14:15] Andrew: Yeah, it's going to be cough syrup. I can't even do like a honorary Lose My Breath. Like if it was a better song, I would be interested in like retiring cough syrup at some point.

[1:14:24] Claudia: You really you really want to send cough syrup to a retirement home.

[1:14:27] Andrew: No, this was set up. I just like it. It sucks. Like we're always having a good time and the song is pulled. I'm like, I'm like something bad may or may not have happened to Andrew related to this. And I don't want to know something. Definitely. I want to reiterate something definitely did bad.

[1:14:41] Patrick: Something did bad happen.

[1:14:42] Andrew: Something did bad happen. That's a great title.

[1:14:46] Claudia: Yeah. Something four, three, two bad did happen.

[1:14:49] Andrew: OK. All right. Let's see. Let's see what's next. We have a song from the episode that came right before on my way.

[1:15:02] Patrick: Huh.

[1:15:03] Andrew: Interesting. I don't know what that is.

[1:15:05] Claudia: It's none of my business.

[1:15:10] Andrew: Is it Valentine's Day one?

[1:15:12] Patrick: It is Valentine's Day.

[1:15:14] Claudia: It is heart.

[1:15:15] Andrew: OK. OK, well, look, I knew I knew I'm not Love Shack because it does.

[1:15:20] Claudia: Share my screen. Boom.

[1:15:22] Patrick: Oh, I love.

[1:15:23] Claudia: I love the song.

[1:15:25] Patrick: I recently streamed this in the remaining songs. This is so good. These outfits are fabulous.

[1:15:30] Andrew: It is stereo hearts.

[1:15:34] Claudia: OK.

[1:15:36] Andrew: I was waiting for the year at the end. And in the MP3, they do include that. And it did. It always catches me by surprise and I hate it.

[1:15:45] Patrick: I'm glad that's it.

[1:15:47] Claudia: Hey.

[1:15:50] Andrew: What?

[1:15:52] Patrick: Negative. No.

[1:15:55] Claudia: I loved this one.

[1:15:56] Andrew: I love this one.

[1:15:58] Patrick: Oh, wait. It's so good.

[1:16:03] Claudia: I love it.

[1:16:04] Patrick: It's very long. Let's be real. There's another courtyard.

[1:16:10] Claudia: I want to be in the squad, please.

[1:16:13] Patrick: I would have been frankly. That's something about my high school.

[1:16:16] Claudia: Patrick, I feel like Charlie sends like really good memes of like, like they're like, yeah, or like it will be like a high school group and it will be like they'll be talking about like the Bible study after school. And then you'll just be like this squad.

[1:16:37] Patrick: Can you send me those? I need it. No, I will send it. They're so funny. I'll look back. He's a funny boy. He's so funny. Boy, funny.

[1:16:48] Andrew: OK, I'll start. I love. I love this one. I think that there's something about like when Glee finds a way to incorporate a gospel choir. I love it. It does something to my brain.

[1:17:02] Claudia: Wait, I love the heart.

[1:17:03] Patrick: Wait, so sorry. This one feels like shoehorned in.

[1:17:07] Claudia: No, it does.

[1:17:10] Patrick: One of the notes I wrote was like, I don't actually remember like a gospel choir coming out. They definitely did that. But I was like, is this a Mandela effect?

[1:17:19] Claudia: Mandela effect? Wait, did they write gospel choir on my locker?

[1:17:27] Patrick: But I love the harmonies. I love that. But when I think about it, unfortunately, a little too much it pisses me off because I was like, we can't get anyone to join the Glee Club. But we do have a McKinley High School gospel choir.

[1:17:40] Andrew: Right.

[1:17:41] Patrick: No, it's not diegetic. It's like that's not part of the real world that they live in. It's a metaphor.

[1:17:47] Claudia: Wait. And then also it's how much is the singing telegram? Is it a dollar or five dollars?

[1:17:52] Patrick: That is Glee trivia. I am not able to answer.

[1:17:54] Andrew: I don't I'm not I'm not asking as if I know the answer. I genuinely don't know. But like they're either way, they're really stretching it thin if they're getting the gospel choir to show up.

[1:18:01] Claudia: I don't think they put a dollar amount on this one. I could be wrong. There could be leaks in the DMs.

[1:18:07] Patrick: No, Joe definitely says in the episode how much it is.

[1:18:12] Andrew: Oh, I mean, I think he does maybe. But I also put best Glee Project winner intro song.

[1:18:19] Claudia: Winner.

[1:18:21] Patrick: Oh, oh, no, no. Oh, oh, because, of course, we're talking about anything goes.

[1:18:27] Andrew: Anything you can do.

[1:18:29] Patrick: And Alex's first song.

[1:18:31] Claudia: Oh, I mean, yeah, kind of Trump this one to me. But I I love this. And he has such a good voice. And it's so, so unfortunate that they really did nothing with Samuel Larson, really.

[1:18:43] Andrew: Yeah. Despite like kind of extending him into season four.

[1:18:46] Patrick: So some of my initial thoughts, for sure. But I do like this one. But yeah, I want to hear what you guys have to think.

[1:18:54] Claudia: I have to say.

[1:18:55] Patrick: Go ahead.

[1:18:57] Claudia: Oh, I was going to say I agree, of course, because you're always right. It's so it's it's one of these songs that I feel like I would describe. Call me maybe in a similar, similar vein where it's like you get this combination of voices that is like I would never think of it like I would never be like, yeah, you Mercedes pop group number where she's like trying to lead vocalist, but it's not like like it's not like, you know, a crazy ballad song like Quinn Quinn could sing this song, probably. But I guess they didn't invite.

[1:19:34] Patrick: They said, no, he was the whole time. She was like, why am I doing?

[1:19:37] Claudia: She completely oscillates between like pretending to be lip syncing and then just not even trying. Like sometimes sometimes she's like doing like, oh, and then sometimes she's just like, she does a little she is staring at Diana showed up lovingly, lovingly, lovingly set this day and was like, oh, Samuel, Amber and Cord, you were you were all invited into the studio.

[1:20:06] Andrew: Oh, she showed up on set and they're like, Diana, we forgot that you're in the God. You stand here and pretend like you're having a good time.

[1:20:10] Patrick: They made they made up to her by giving her an excellent serve of an outfit and a bob.

[1:20:14] Claudia: She's serving.

[1:20:15] Patrick: She's serving fall. It's like a denim jacket boot.

[1:20:18] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:20:19] Claudia: Next scarf. Love it. I love just looking at it. Also made it up to her because she was like, what the hell? I'm like, don't worry, we're going to rework the script for the next episode. Can I have a lot to do? Don't worry, Diana. She's like, OK, good.

[1:20:30] Patrick: Wait, do you know the do you know the lore that Diana worked with Ryan Murphy to write the car crash?

[1:20:38] Claudia: Why? That's insane.

[1:20:40] Patrick: I'm not lying.

[1:20:41] Claudia: How did you find this out?

[1:20:43] Patrick: No, I remember there was like there was interviews where like Diana cares so much about Quinny. And so so she like, I need to go find it. If someone's listening and like really has like the official tape of her talking about this, please, please, please. I need it. But like she talked about she was like, I really want to like handle the car crash in a really, really serious way.

[1:21:10] Andrew: Do you does this not ring a bell at all?

[1:21:12] Claudia: I feel like I thought it was more of a hey, kids, texting and driving is really bad. Take it from me, Diana Agron sort of thing.

[1:21:20] Patrick: Sexiest girl I've ever seen. I didn't think of it as like a Diana and Ryan were up all night racking their brains to figure out how to best portray the story.

[1:21:28] Claudia: Wait, what's the song, Diana? Do you think that they could play while going in the car?

[1:21:32] Patrick: Well, they're going to a chapel that they're going to get married.

[1:21:34] Claudia: Oh, oh, oh, I have just the song.

[1:21:36] Patrick: But it matters. Like your friend that doesn't support a teen marriage, getting in a car, pissed off, texting and driving, getting in line and that she, she, you know, it's important to tell these stories so that people feel seen and heard.

[1:22:02] Andrew: I think it might have happened to me in high school.

[1:22:05] Claudia: So I'm going to stop.

[1:22:07] Andrew: No, I think it's a really perfect bit. I'm going to stop saying it, but like, no, I'm healing right now. That might have happened to me, but I can't really remember.

[1:22:13] Patrick: It might have just happened to Quinny.

[1:22:14] Andrew: No, it did. It did. Because you were telling me that one time that like your friend was singing a hailstorm song and you're like, that really not a hailstorm song. But really, when you were seeing that hailstorm song, you were singing it to Finn, weren't you?

[1:22:28] Claudia: OK, that's the writer's version of saying I'm OK with teen marriage now.

[1:22:32] Andrew: I'm OK with teen marriage, but I'm not going to remember my bridesmaid's dress until I forgot.

[1:22:39] Patrick: I forgot it at home.

[1:22:40] Andrew: That happened to me. It's hard. I get it.

[1:22:41] Claudia: No, was it the case that she forgot it at home or that she had to go get it because she only then decided that teen marriage was OK?

[1:22:48] Patrick: Um, no, I'm under the impression that she started driving to the chapel, realized that she she was wearing street clothes.

[1:22:53] Andrew: I'm on my way.

[1:23:00] Claudia: On my way.

[1:23:02] Patrick: Oh my God.

[1:23:03] Andrew: Oh my God. Oh my God.

[1:23:04] Claudia: OK, wait. So you guys, do you have some iPhones?

[1:23:08] Patrick: No.

[1:23:09] Andrew: This is important, Andrew.

[1:23:11] Andrew: Oh, because Quinn has a Blackberry.

[1:23:14] Patrick: Oh, wait, that's so funny.

[1:23:15] Andrew: She does.

[1:23:16] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:23:16] Andrew: But like one of the built in like things like shortcuts is if you put an OMW at least for a while, it would automatically go that way.

[1:23:24] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:23:26] Andrew: And I was like I was like every time that happens to me, I think about Quinn because usually I'm texting someone on my way when I'm in a vehicle. It's really great. And then but genuinely that I'm like, you know what? I should not be texting. Does he know what could happen? You know, yeah, it all worked. You could be in a wheelchair for for five episodes.

[1:23:44] Patrick: You could be in a wheelchair for up to up to five episodes.

[1:23:49] Andrew: Claudia, I feel like there's been things you wanted to say and me and Claudia had to spend a riff and no, no, I think it's actually perfect. Do you need to say?

[1:24:00] Claudia: No, I just want to I just want to say really quickly about Quinn's phone, Quinn's Blackberry.

[1:24:04] Patrick: Back to that.

[1:24:05] Andrew: OK, back to that, please, please, please.

[1:24:07] Claudia: I do want to talk about the.

[1:24:11] Patrick: I'm going to talk about the quackberry.

[1:24:13] Andrew: Oh, you can't say that word.

[1:24:17] Claudia: It is quack quack quack a new joke. It's really good.

[1:24:20] Patrick: No, I think quack quack quack actually, I think, did stem from Mike's Mike Glee series recap. I believe that that was the stem.

[1:24:28] Andrew: I can't I can't take credit.

[1:24:30] Patrick: I can't take credit for quack quack.

[1:24:32] Claudia: But on Quinn's Blackberry, it always takes me out that it's like she has like a sticker or maybe like it's her wallpaper that says like, go Cheerios. And at that point, she's been back on the Cheerios for like maybe 12 hours tops. So it's like, girl, you're really going back, like hardcore back into the Cheerio lifestyle for being excited.

[1:25:01] Andrew: Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing really critical of Quinn. I'm like, what a quidditch quidditch quidditch.

[1:25:08] Patrick: Um, OK, you want to be critical about this performance, stereo hearts, anything do we have? What do we have to say about this?

[1:25:15] Claudia: I have another note too, but go ahead.

[1:25:17] Patrick: Mine is really quick. It's...

[1:30:00] Andrew: All four are actually on Cherish Cherish.

[1:30:02] Claudia: Wait, wait, you have a point.

[1:30:04] Patrick: Lady Di.

[1:30:05] Claudia: Lady Di was like, Adam Anders, let me in, I'm outside.

[1:30:09] Patrick: Do you want to annoy me, Gemma?

[1:30:10] Claudia: I'm on my way.

[1:30:11] Patrick: Lady D?

[1:30:13] Claudia: Crazy.

[1:30:14] Patrick: She says things that make no sense all the time.

[1:30:16] Claudia: It was Lady Di, like Diana.

[1:30:17] Patrick: Oh, also, much love to Jenna Ushkowitz.

[1:30:21] Claudia: Icon of my life.

[1:30:22] Patrick: The way that she says Fa-berry, kill me.

[1:30:26] Claudia: What did she say?

[1:30:27] Patrick: How did she say it?

[1:30:28] Claudia: She says Fa-berry.

[1:30:30] Patrick: Hey, please.

[1:30:31] Claudia: I'm like, girl, that makes no sense.

[1:30:34] Patrick: But also, like, I think we all say Fa-berry, but like, how do we determine what, like, the actual name is?

[1:30:41] Claudia: There's no, like, official...

[1:30:43] Patrick: Fa-bray.

[1:30:44] Claudia: It's not Fa-bray.

[1:30:45] Patrick: Fa-bray.

[1:30:48] Claudia: You just yelled at me.

[1:30:50] Patrick: No, I'm yelling.

[1:30:51] Claudia: Patrick, that's not nice.

[1:30:52] Patrick: That's really not nice.

[1:30:55] Claudia: Fa-berry!

[1:30:59] Patrick: You're going to...

[1:31:00] Claudia: I've been screaming into my mic. Like, there's gonna be so many edits.

[1:31:03] Patrick: No, you're perfect.

[1:31:05] Claudia: I don't want you to overanalyze or over-edit yourself.

[1:31:07] Patrick: Oh, you're saying I'm perfect. That's so nice.

[1:31:10] Claudia: Quinn, I'm such a Latino lesbian.

[1:31:12] Patrick: Last thing I want to say about Stereo Hearts, and this is not related to anything, is that I do distinctly remember making this Mercedes fit in The Sims 3.

[1:31:24] Claudia: It's a good one.

[1:31:25] Patrick: It's a good one.

[1:31:26] Claudia: It's a good one.

[1:31:27] Patrick: I like the leopard.

[1:31:28] Claudia: I like the headband.

[1:31:29] Patrick: She looks great.

[1:31:29] Claudia: She's wearing, like, red pants.

[1:31:31] Patrick: Yeah, like Uggs.

[1:31:32] Claudia: Yeah, it's like...

[1:31:33] Patrick: It's so good.

[1:31:34] Claudia: It's really good.

[1:31:35] Patrick: They all look cute.

[1:31:36] Claudia: I'd kiss them all.

[1:31:39] Patrick: Oh my god.

[1:31:40] Claudia: A very kissable group.

[1:31:41] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:31:42] Claudia: They're very kissable.

[1:31:44] Patrick: Especially someone.

[1:31:47] Claudia: I will say this.

[1:31:49] Patrick: Especially someone.

[1:31:52] Claudia: I love it.

[1:31:52] Patrick: I love it when...

[1:31:54] Claudia: I love it when...

[1:31:57] Patrick: You know how the...

[1:32:02] Claudia: It's like you're trying to be very, like, apolitical.

[1:32:05] Patrick: Especially, fill in the blank, for whoever you're thinking.

[1:32:08] Claudia: The audience is, like, dying.

[1:32:12] Patrick: Okay.

[1:32:13] Claudia: In the Ian...

[1:32:16] Patrick: What's Ian's last name?

[1:32:17] Claudia: Falchuk?

[1:32:19] Patrick: Ian Brennan?

[1:32:19] Claudia: No.

[1:32:21] Patrick: Sorry.

[1:32:24] Claudia: Yeah, Ian Brennan.

[1:32:26] Patrick: Episode...

[1:32:27] Claudia: The most recent one of...

[1:32:28] Patrick: And that's what you really missed that he was on.

[1:32:30] Claudia: He was talking about how he, like, kind of regretted aging up the character so much.

[1:32:34] Patrick: And, like, whatever.

[1:32:36] Claudia: I think some of the best moments in Glee are the ones that, like, aren't meant to strike a chord with the audience as much, but, like, really do.

[1:32:45] Patrick: Is, like, when they're doing, like, stupid high school shit.

[1:32:47] Claudia: Like, the singing telegram stuff.

[1:32:49] Patrick: Like, they did it at my high school.

[1:32:52] Claudia: Not to the same degree as the Glee Club did.

[1:32:54] Patrick: No courtyard dancing in February in Ohio.

[1:32:58] Claudia: Why are they not cold?

[1:32:59] Patrick: That's another question I have.

[1:33:00] Claudia: Why are they not cold in the courtyard in Ohio in February?

[1:33:03] Patrick: But, like, I think that's so fun.

[1:33:06] Claudia: Like, I love it when I kind of am reminded that, like, they're goofy kids in high school getting excited about high school stuff.

[1:33:10] Patrick: That is, like, always fun to me.

[1:33:13] Claudia: So when they get really excited or pumped about the competitions or whatever, like, that is what's the most Glee and fun to me.

[1:33:21] Patrick: When it comes, like, teen marriage plot or congressional district of Sue and Kurt's dad.

[1:33:31] Claudia: Bert.

[1:33:31] Patrick: I'm just kind of like, all right.

[1:33:33] Claudia: Like, this shit sucks.

[1:33:34] Patrick: But then, like, the little moments where it's, like.

[1:33:35] Claudia: This shit sucks.

[1:33:37] Patrick: All right.

[1:33:38] Claudia: I've changed the channel.

[1:33:39] Patrick: When it's, like, you know, I just think it's so fun.

[1:33:42] Claudia: And it kind of just, like, reminds me of, like, yeah, sometimes our high school were high school.

[1:33:46] Patrick: You were so excited about, like, the stupid high school traditions or whatever.

[1:33:49] Claudia: Did you really have a singing telegram at your high school?

[1:33:52] Patrick: We did.

[1:33:53] Claudia: I remember only my sophomore year.

[1:33:54] Patrick: But, like, people could, like, come in.

[1:33:56] Claudia: And, like, I remember in my freshman year English class, there was a girl named Grace.

[1:34:01] Patrick: And she had a friend named Grace.

[1:34:03] Claudia: And I think.

[1:34:04] Patrick: Oh, God.

[1:34:05] Claudia: I don't know.

[1:34:06] Patrick: Maybe there's something going on with them.

[1:34:08] Claudia: But she sent a singing telegram of, like, you are my sunshine.

[1:34:14] Patrick: My only sunshine.

[1:34:16] Claudia: And I thought that was, like, really fun.

[1:34:17] Patrick: I was like, oh, this is fun.

[1:34:18] Claudia: And then Glee did that.

[1:34:20] Patrick: To you or to the other Grace?

[1:34:21] Claudia: To the other Grace.

[1:34:22] Patrick: It's like, this is from your friend Grace.

[1:34:24] Claudia: And now looking back, I'm like, oh.

[1:34:26] Patrick: Did that happen to you?

[1:34:27] Claudia: Or?

[1:34:29] Patrick: No.

[1:34:31] Claudia: Wait, wait, wait, wait.

[1:34:33] Patrick: Now I can't remember what happened to me in Glee versus high school.

[1:34:39] Claudia: In the last 30 minutes of this episode, Claudia, I expect that to happen to you.

[1:34:44] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:34:44] Claudia: And I have a moment.

[1:34:45] Patrick: There's something in the air tonight.

[1:34:47] Claudia: Pull a little.

[1:34:49] Patrick: Dinosaur.

[1:34:50] Claudia: No.

[1:34:50] Patrick: I can't remember if I had a dinosaur clown or not.

[1:34:53] Claudia: Rumor has it someone like you, then we can get into that one.

[1:34:56] Patrick: Oh, you know.

[1:34:58] Claudia: And that's what I said.

[1:35:01] Patrick: James.

[1:35:01] Claudia: What was that?

[1:35:03] Patrick: I.

[1:35:04] Claudia: Netflix.

[1:35:05] Patrick: I can't because of Netflix.

[1:35:06] Claudia: I can't because of Netflix.

[1:35:08] Patrick: I really like that bit.

[1:35:11] Claudia: Okay.

[1:35:11] Patrick: So.

[1:35:12] Claudia: He's so funny.

[1:35:14] Patrick: So what a really what a wild ride we're going on in this episode.

[1:35:19] Andrew: Audio medium. We're looking at a trumpet.

[1:35:21] Claudia: Four minutes.

[1:35:22] Patrick: Four minutes, right?

[1:35:22] Andrew: Oh, no.

[1:35:23] Claudia: Yes.

[1:35:24] Patrick: No.

[1:35:26] Andrew: This is in the choir room.

[1:35:28] Claudia: I don't know if it's four minutes.

[1:35:28] Patrick: This lady is a tramp.

[1:35:30] Andrew: If this lady is a tramp, I'm going to freaking turn off the TV.

[1:35:35] Claudia: The TV.

[1:35:37] Patrick: Wait, you're on a podcast.

[1:35:41] Andrew: Wait. I'm in full imagery branding mode, people.

[1:35:48] Claudia: Um, I'm going to look at the reflection in the trombone.

[1:35:52] Andrew: Um, okay, wait, we're in the choir room. There's a trombone.

[1:35:54] Patrick: You can see the trombone.

[1:35:55] Andrew: It's a trumpet.

[1:35:58] Patrick: It is. It's a trombone.

[1:35:59] Andrew: That's a trombone.

[1:36:00] Patrick: Yeah, that's a trombone.

[1:36:02] Andrew: Wait, the trombone is like, that's the big slide.

[1:36:06] Patrick: It's a trombone.

[1:36:07] Andrew: It's a trombone.

[1:36:09] Patrick: Andrew, don't Google this.

[1:36:10] Andrew: That's really nice.

[1:36:11] Patrick: I'm looking it up. Is that Blaine or a woman behind the trombone?

[1:36:14] Andrew: Oh, you're right. That is a trombone.

[1:36:15] Patrick: Yeah, nice try. You can't get that past me when my boy Patrick's on the damn phone.

[1:36:22] Andrew: I'm thinking about a tuba. That's what I'm thinking.

[1:36:24] Patrick: Surely not.

[1:36:25] Andrew: And that's not a tuba either.

[1:36:27] Claudia: Okay, wait. Okay, hold on, hold on. Let's think about this. Is that Blaine or is it a woman back there?

[1:36:32] Patrick: I can't like it looks like Blaine's head, but then like a woman's manicure.

[1:36:34] Claudia: And it's really confusing me.

[1:36:36] Patrick: Like the filter that's on this is like giving season two.

[1:36:42] Claudia: Is it season two?

[1:36:42] Patrick: I would have guessed four.

[1:36:44] Claudia: I'm gonna say that Patrick's right.

[1:36:46] Patrick: Okay, then kill me.

[1:36:47] Claudia: Giving season like that's how many times I've watched the show. I'm like the filter that they have on. I know what season it is.

[1:36:53] Andrew: All I can hear is Ladies of Tramp. That's all I can think of.

[1:36:57] Claudia: Ladies of Tramp is a great guess though. I'm trying to think of horns.

[1:37:01] Patrick: No, it's not the Reigns family season three.

[1:37:03] Claudia: What has horns?

[1:37:05] Patrick: You're gonna shoot yourself in the foot.

[1:37:13] Claudia: Is it the duet between Santana and Mercedes?

[1:37:17] Patrick: Yeah, what is the name of that song?

[1:37:18] Claudia: What is that one?

[1:37:20] Patrick: Yeah, it is Riverdeep Mountain High.

[1:37:22] Claudia: I did it. I'm so proud of myself.

[1:37:23] Patrick: That's good. They do have horns in that don't they?

[1:37:26] Claudia: There's so much to unpack. Cause we's be going.

[1:37:30] Patrick: Cause we's be going to breadsticks.

[1:37:32] Claudia: To breadsticks.

[1:37:33] Patrick: To Olive Garden.

[1:37:35] Claudia: My Tumblr.

[1:37:36] Patrick: My Tumblr at.

[1:37:37] Claudia: That was my Tumblr at in high school. We's be going to breadsticks.

[1:37:40] Patrick: That's so good.

[1:37:42] Claudia: Can I start this off with a personal anecdote?

[1:37:44] Patrick: Please.

[1:37:45] Claudia: Yeah. So one time I was watching a performance of two really beautiful girls that I knew. And I was trying really hard to not look like I wanted to sleep with both of them. But I didn't do a very good job. And so as I was watching it, I was making really gay faces and looks. And I was doing this with my hand at a certain point.

[1:38:07] Patrick: That actually didn't happen to me. That actually happened to Diana Agron.

[1:38:11] Claudia: Diana Agron.

[1:38:13] Patrick: That didn't happen.

[1:38:14] Claudia: Wow. This is like a real lore dump.

[1:38:18] Patrick: That was so good. I was like, where is she going with this?

[1:38:21] Claudia: Thank you. Thank you so much.

[1:38:24] Patrick: No, you're talking about the audio medium, the cut to Quinn. She's using her wrist and swatting the air. And her face and her jaw is like a gate. She's mouth breathing, not knowing how to act.

[1:38:40] Claudia: I feel like I haven't really clocked the part where she's looking like that. And Rachel turns around and stares at her.

[1:38:46] Patrick: It's all in there.

[1:38:47] Claudia: It's in the text.

[1:38:48] Patrick: Wait, in that shot, Rachel turns around?

[1:38:52] Claudia: No, it's not when she's doing the wrist thing. It's a different part. There's three parts where it focuses on Diana and she's looking like this is epic. And I'm sure the intention...

[1:39:00] Patrick: The second one is Will going...

[1:39:04] Claudia: He's like, humming.

[1:39:08] Patrick: Can you make a compilation of that?

[1:39:09] Claudia: Oh my god, bad trying.

[1:39:13] Patrick: The spirit of Mr. Schuster took over.

[1:39:16] Claudia: That was so stupid. I didn't like it.

[1:39:20] Patrick: I'm so...

[1:39:20] Claudia: I'm so...

[1:39:21] Patrick: It's like Mr. Schuster and Quinn are just incredibly horny watching this.

[1:39:27] Claudia: That's the second one. The third one is just Quinn and she's doing the hand thing. And the first one, she's enjoying it. And the intention is definitely, you know, like Rachel's like, oh no, we can't let these girls win for our whatever weird political power play. And but she looks at Quinn and she's like, like it looks like she's like jealous, but you know, whatever.

[1:39:46] Patrick: As you said, it's in the text.

[1:39:47] Claudia: It's in the text. It's all there. If people choose to not observe those texts...

[1:39:54] Patrick: Okay, I guess you're going straight to hell.

[1:39:57] Claudia: It's on you. It's none of my business. I don't need to explain it.

[1:40:00] Patrick: No. But yeah.

[1:40:03] Claudia: I have a lot of other things to say, but I started it off with my bit. So we can maybe take turns.

[1:40:08] Patrick: I have a similar note of like Quinn.

[1:40:10] Claudia: Yeah, Patrick, next.

[1:40:11] Patrick: At the start, Quinn just kind of like...

[1:40:14] Claudia: That wasn't Quinn. That was Diana.

[1:40:15] Patrick: That was Diana being like...

[1:40:16] Claudia: That's Lady Di.

[1:40:18] Patrick: I'm gonna like really show my intrigue and interest in general whimsy with this happening.

[1:40:24] Claudia: I'm gonna show my interest in general whimsy.

[1:40:29] Patrick: I'm almost always doing that.

[1:40:30] Claudia: I'm almost always doing that. She's like, isn't this just like a fun like thing that I'm a part of that I get to like, oh, watch like...

[1:40:36] Patrick: Oh, wow. I love that the discourse has been exclusively about Diana so far.

[1:40:43] Claudia: Yeah. Okay. Well, okay.

[1:40:44] Patrick: Okay, that's it.

[1:40:48] Claudia: All right, Andrew destroyed the fun.

[1:40:50] Patrick: Okay. I will say this was...

[1:40:52] Claudia: Yeah, popcorn to Andrew.

[1:40:54] Andrew: Oh, I just think it's... Okay, so we're talking... Because we're only talking about reactions at this point. We'll get to the performance in a little bit.

[1:41:01] Patrick: Right, right, right, right. The thing that I want to talk about is that Mike and Tina...

[1:41:07] Claudia: No.

[1:41:12] Patrick: It's so scary.

[1:41:14] Claudia: No, I'm talking about the Mike and Tina reaction.

[1:41:16] Patrick: Yeah, what did you say?

[1:41:18] Claudia: I think Tina says like, they're really good or something, or like, we should be like that or something.

[1:41:22] Patrick: But what I want to talk about...

[1:41:23] Claudia: Wow, they're really good.

[1:41:24] Patrick: Wow, they're really, really good. And, but when you go to YouTube search this performance on the website, YouTube...

[1:41:34] Claudia: On YouTube.com.

[1:41:35] Patrick: Just to clarify. When they get to that part, Mike and Tina, it's like one of those like glee videos where the performance, the singing is in English, but everything beyond that is in like Spanish.

[1:41:55] Claudia: And so the top video, when you search Riverdeep Mountain High, they're like Naya and Amber singing as they do. But then when it gets the Tina line, it's like in another language. And it really scares me every single time.

[1:42:07] Patrick: That is scary.

[1:42:08] Claudia: That's so good. Yeah. Anyway, popcorn. Who is Amina?

[1:42:12] Patrick: Claudia.

[1:42:12] Claudia: Okay, popcorn Claudia. Maybe we'll get to the actual performance and maybe make a huge announcement, which I feel like I think maybe last time I was on, I had a lot of shit to talk about Boyz Mon getting sent home. And I still miss her.

[1:42:25] Patrick: That was me. My bad. I'm sorry.

[1:42:27] Claudia: Oh, that was you. I meant to. I meant to like make that part of the thing when we are selected to be together. I was like, I need to kind of like, I want to give you the space to like...

[1:42:34] Patrick: Thank you.

[1:42:39] Claudia: And have your frustrations at me. Because like, I don't know if that was the right call.

[1:42:41] Patrick: What was that again?

[1:42:42] Claudia: I know where I've been.

[1:42:43] Patrick: Oh, yeah.

[1:42:45] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:42:46] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:42:48] Claudia: No.

[1:42:49] Patrick: Stop.

[1:42:50] Claudia: I can't look at that.

[1:42:51] Patrick: It's really scary.

[1:42:52] Claudia: Your eyes get so big.

[1:42:55] Patrick: I don't like it.

[1:42:57] Claudia: I'm going to come on. I want to come on this platform and say that I think watching that just now actually convinced me that it is worth the hype over Boyz Mon. I'm going to go ahead and say it. Because before my bag was kind of like, I love Boyz Mon. That's like the first them moment. And for me, that's my River Deep. But maybe River Deep is my River Deep.

[1:43:18] Patrick: River Deep might be River Deep.

[1:43:19] Claudia: Yeah, it's perfect. And I think I usually think of like Boyz Mon as like funny, mean me. But this is also funny. And also like, there's so much there visually as well as vocally. So I'm like, not going to be so angry anymore, I guess.

[1:43:38] Patrick: It's really good. It really deserves. It deserves all of it.

[1:43:42] Claudia: It was interesting to see like, this is such a cool pinpoint of like the trajectory of how Naya was playing Santana. Because you see even in this performance, the way that she like, for so much of the early seasons had to like convey an entire character with like, this look of kind of like looking a little bit like snarky and like sexy and like doing this kind of face. And she does it in this performance. And like later on, she like doesn't doesn't really have to have to carry that out as much because she has like lines. But there's a character there.

[1:44:15] Patrick: Yeah, yeah.

[1:44:16] Claudia: I feel like it was interesting because I feel like if she was to perform that in a later season, it would not look that way. I don't know. Did you guys notice that like she makes this face?

[1:44:26] Patrick: I totally I get what you're saying.

[1:44:28] Claudia: Yeah, yeah. It feels like not as specific.

[1:44:32] Patrick: Or what are you saying?

[1:44:33] Claudia: I don't know. Like, it looks like she's trying to I mean, that maybe that's just her competitive spirit. But it looks like she's trying to like, do something evil and seductive to everybody. Like, she's like, right, right, right. Has like a look in her eyes that you know, like, I feel like she does in the audience a lot.

[1:44:46] Patrick: Usually.

[1:44:47] Claudia: The season three promo pictures where she has like the pom poms, and she's kind of like rolling her eyes. Yeah, I feel like that was kind of her move in like, season one, too.

[1:44:56] Patrick: Yes, I didn't have to do that anymore.

[1:44:58] Claudia: Like, yeah, like, I'm like, over like, not overly expressive, because I loved how expressive she was. But like, yeah, I feel like she didn't have to. She could be a little bit more subdued or subtle and like how she was performing because she like solidified herself as like, that bitch.

[1:45:17] Patrick: Exactly.

[1:45:18] Claudia: Popcorn Patrick.

[1:45:19] Patrick: Okay, I'll give it to myself. I was literally gonna popcorn Patrick though.

[1:45:22] Claudia: So wait, we have so much in common.

[1:45:26] Patrick: I love Claudia.

[1:45:27] Claudia: Patrick.

[1:45:28] Patrick: Patrick.

[1:45:29] Claudia: Okay.

[1:45:30] Patrick: Um, uh huh.

[1:45:32] Claudia: What did I write?

[1:45:32] Patrick: Uh huh.

[1:45:33] Claudia: Oh, God.

[1:45:34] Patrick: He's not even ready for his popcorn.

[1:45:36] Claudia: No, no, no, no. Okay, the popcorn. Okay. So, um, no, Nia. This is Nia's first vocal feature in season two, right? After she has promoted a series earlier?

[1:45:44] Patrick: No, no. What was her first one?

[1:45:46] Claudia: Me against the music.

[1:45:47] Patrick: Oh, that's really awesome.

[1:45:50] Claudia: All right. I'm going to season one. What's going on?

[1:45:52] Patrick: I'm going to die. I've never seen the show.

[1:45:54] Claudia: I've never seen the show.

[1:45:55] Patrick: I've never seen the show.

[1:45:56] Claudia: All right. So sorry. I really do feel like though. This was her like, hold my beer. I'm a series regular now.

[1:46:01] Patrick: Hold my beer.

[1:46:04] Claudia: Fucking listen up, watch. Yeah, like you are going to fucking like die because I'm so talented and awesome. This was the moment where I was really like, holy shit. Like, this is my favorite character and actress on the show. Like this. I remember watching this and being like, it's solidified. Like she has completely, completely, completely won me over. That's not to say that season one, like even like Boya's Mind didn't do that for me. But when this song is kind of being hinted at earlier in the episode of duets and she's like, we have the best voices at the school. I remember like watching that live. I'm like, have you sung before?

[1:46:49] Patrick: Which one are you?

[1:46:51] Claudia: Mercedes is like, our voices kind of do go together. You guys have never sang before. I think this was like, I only watched season one live. And I feel like I didn't like maybe catch every single episode live. So like, I didn't maybe like fully like have it all memorized. And like, it was the Mandela. They were Mandela effect.

[1:47:07] Patrick: Yeah, it's just like, what?

[1:47:09] Claudia: But I just specifically remember like watching this episode. This, as I said, many times is my favorite episode of Glee. And like, this song is part of the reason why. Like, it's so much energy. Andrew, when you say that you get this from the Survivor mashup, like, I totally understand the energy, especially because it's the same to be performers. But like, for this song, like, this is my, I cannot help but be like, completely like, it's so magnetic. It's just like everything that I love about the show. It's so, so, so good. I love this.

[1:47:44] Patrick: And I agree. It's my top tier, like, Santana, like non-trouble toned Santana Mercedes duet, for sure. It rocks.

[1:47:52] Andrew: Popcorn Andrew.

[1:47:54] Andrew: That's me. Hey, guys. Um, yeah, so this performance, like, kind of takes me out every single time.

[1:48:04] Patrick: What?

[1:48:05] Andrew: It takes me back. And I was gonna be like, not the high school.

[1:48:09] Patrick: No.

[1:48:12] Andrew: All right, takes me out. When I was watching two girls perform, and I was trying so hard not to be gay. Um, and then they put a jelly sandwich on my locker.

[1:48:25] Patrick: That did happen. Anyway, no, but it takes me out this performance that like, there's so much that's in here that it's like, that is so part of the culture. Now that it's like the Santana run alone has really become its own thing. The Santana run, when Conor Elias and I were at the Glee Drag Show in London a few weeks ago, when they did Riverdeep Mountain High, it was just so fun to see so many people in that room do the Naya run. But it's like, yeah, it's iconic, and we should pay our respect. Um, and then also like, choreography, the crazy, like, where?

[1:49:05] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:49:06] Andrew: What would you call it? Like the head?

[1:49:07] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:49:08] Andrew: Head banging with a bit of an arm formation. And then when Santana's fanning herself off, and then it's right back into it.

[1:49:16] Claudia: Yes, I love that.

[1:49:17] Andrew: It's so perfect. Star is born. A star is born for real. Just how she like, her body acts like a rag doll, and she's like, kind of like, it's so good. No, I'm gonna teach myself that choreography soon, and I think it'll be really nice for my brain chemistry.

[1:49:33] Patrick: Who's gonna, are you gonna be Santana or Mercedes?

[1:49:35] Andrew: This is a good question. I was thinking more of like, the moves that they both do together. Like when they like, do kind of like a fast grapevine across the room, and they're banging. Yeah, I think I could just learn that. Rent out a studio space.

[1:49:41] Claudia: Rent out a studio space to learn Riverdeep, now I'm hot.

[1:49:48] Andrew: Yeah, do you want to do it with me?

[1:49:50] Claudia: I would.

[1:49:50] Andrew: At the podcast studio!

[1:49:52] Claudia: Oh, at the podcast studio! That's the perfect space for dance rehearsals.

[1:49:55] Andrew: Yes. Oh god, I just got the 10% battery remaining notice, so.

[1:49:59] Claudia: Uh oh.

[1:50:02] Andrew: I will say though, I will come clean about, uh, there was a period of my life where, okay, so I had Glead the Music Volume 4, and, uh, I put it in and I was like, oh, I don't remember them doing, uh, Ain't No Mountain High enough, when I saw like, the back of the cover, and I saw Riverdeep Mountain High, and I was like, oh, let's go to that one. And I remember like, going to that on Glead the Music Volume 4, and being like, slightly disappointed. That I was like, oh, wait, this isn't actually the song that I thought it was. Um, and so I don't know.

[1:50:38] Patrick: JL.

[1:50:39] Andrew: JL.

[1:50:40] Patrick: JL for 14-year-old me that was, um, getting bullied.

[1:50:46] Andrew: No.

[1:50:47] Patrick: No.

[1:50:48] Andrew: Well, you're probably 13, right?

[1:50:55] Patrick: Does that make it better?

[1:50:59] Andrew: Um, Popcorn, Claudia, do you have further things to say?

[1:51:02] Claudia: I don't think I have anything else to say. Um, yeah, it rocks.

[1:51:07] Patrick: Majorly.

[1:51:08] Claudia: Majorly. Maybe we can say this at the end, but I want to say like, this was a great selection of songs and competitions that were like, good and interesting to watch and talk about, but none of the competitions made me want to die and throw up.

[1:51:20] Patrick: Yeah, I like that.

[1:51:21] Claudia: I kind of wish that there was one competition that wanted, you know.

[1:51:26] Patrick: I mean, like, I don't love this one. Like, I, you know, I love, I really, really like Serial Hearts, and I don't want it to go away. But, you know.

[1:51:33] Claudia: It seems like a canon event at this point.

[1:51:34] Patrick: At this point, it's like, maybe a lesser, a lesser diva could have, I don't know, could have, she could have been saved, but no. Um, I think my last comment is, I just think it was like a good duet in the sense that, like, they both really shined a lot. And even though I think that, like, when I think of this song, maybe I think of Naya more, because this was like, to me, in my memory, her first, like, huge standout, just watching it. Like, she, either in character as Santana, or as the actress Naya Rivera, I think, like, really, like, makes her partner shine, too. And I think that probably speaks to, like, how good and, like, talented Naya is. That, like, the people around her, like, pop when they're, like, in a scene with her, or in a performance with her. I don't know. Like, I just, it's so, it's such an excellent number. I love it. I'm so happy that this got pulled when I was on. I love it. It was so fun to watch.

[1:52:37] Andrew: Great. Last Popcorn Andrew, my turn?

[1:52:41] Patrick: Yes, please.

[1:52:43] Andrew: Okay. So, first thing is a question prompt. Brittany and Artie don't get a duet in this episode. What do you think their duet would have been? I have two ideas. Do you want my ideas, or do you want to have a fresh mind?

[1:53:02] Patrick: More than once.

[1:53:03] Andrew: Maybe your ideas, because I need some time to think.

[1:53:06] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:53:07] Andrew: Okay. So, my two brilliant ideas that I've been able to stew on the past, I guess, like, 15 years are Promiscuous.

[1:53:16] Patrick: That's good.

[1:53:17] Andrew: That'd be so good.

[1:53:18] Patrick: That's really good.

[1:53:19] Andrew: And also, Just Dance.

[1:53:24] Patrick: That's good.

[1:53:25] Andrew: I was thinking...

[1:53:25] Patrick: That's good, too.

[1:53:27] Andrew: Yeah, something where maybe both of them even rap.

[1:53:30] Patrick: Yeah, yeah. I just love the little, like, the Heather moment in this episode.

[1:53:35] Claudia: Ooh, yay.

[1:53:38] Patrick: Nailed it.

[1:53:38] Claudia: That's so good.

[1:53:39] Patrick: Nailed it.

[1:53:40] Claudia: Ooh, yay.

[1:53:43] Patrick: I love that episode.

[1:53:44] Claudia: It's so good. Maybe I'll watch that when we're done.

[1:53:47] Patrick: It's really, really amazing. I really like Promiscuous. I think that's a good... That would be really good.

[1:53:52] Andrew: Yeah, I needed that. How about...

[1:53:55] Patrick: What about...

[1:53:58] Andrew: Love in the Club?

[1:54:00] Patrick: Oh.

[1:54:01] Andrew: I want to make love in this club.

[1:54:02] Patrick: Is that it?

[1:54:03] Andrew: Yeah, or, like...

[1:54:04] Patrick: Club can't even handle us.

[1:54:07] Andrew: I'm thinking, like, what...

[1:54:09] Patrick: Down.

[1:54:09] Andrew: What about Down?

[1:54:11] Patrick: Down would be perfect.

[1:54:11] Andrew: That would be really good. I don't think that Timber was out at this point, but Timber would be really, really fun for them.

[1:54:19] Claudia: Yeah, the Pitbull.

[1:54:20] Patrick: Blow, yeah.

[1:54:22] Andrew: Yeah. There's another song I'm thinking of that I can't think of what it's called. Like, Tayo Cruz or something.

[1:54:29] Patrick: Dynamite?

[1:54:29] Andrew: Wait, did someone say Promiscuous Girl?

[1:54:32] Patrick: That is the one that Andrew said.

[1:54:33] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:54:34] Patrick: Oh, you just said that?

[1:54:35] Andrew: Sorry.

[1:54:35] Patrick: Oh, wait, you just said that? I was thinking about Riverdeep Mountain High. Sorry.

[1:54:38] Andrew: And how it would be better if it was named a mountain high enough.

[1:54:42] Patrick: Yeah. I just, like, why didn't they ever cover that on the Hip-Hop Show, Glee?

[1:54:46] Andrew: That could have been the Artitney.

[1:54:51] Patrick: We covered that in my high school's marching band during our Motown halftime show.

[1:54:57] Andrew: Is that happening?

[1:54:58] Patrick: I didn't learn what a trombone looked like, so we had to Google it. All of us had to Google it to show you.

[1:55:02] Andrew: Are you sure that happened to you?

[1:55:05] Patrick: Yeah, it's happening.

[1:55:08] Andrew: It's a good bit. And then can I bring it to, like, a more somber note as we end up the discourse?

[1:55:16] Claudia: I guess.

[1:55:18] Andrew: To your point, talking about, like, Santana being able, or Naya specifically, being able to, like, really, like, match the energy of whoever she's acting or singing alongside. Obviously, people, like, really point to the Mercedes and Santana duets for good reason. They're all iconic. And I feel like I don't hear enough people talk about Amber Riley in 2020, after Naya passed, went on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and sang this beautiful song that I feel like, correct me if I'm wrong, she wrote for Naya, or at least it, like, really, really worked for the moment. The song is called A Moment.

[1:56:01] Claudia: It's so good.

[1:56:02] Andrew: It's so emotional. People are not talking about it enough. It's really, really beautiful to me.

[1:56:07] Claudia: I've never heard, I've never seen it.

[1:56:09] Andrew: I've seen it, but I haven't revisited it in many years. It's like, it's so great. It's so gorgeous. And she's singing and it's like, I think that there's like a black and white filter. Like, there's like, there's no color on the screen. And then, so Amber's on stage. And then behind her is this beautiful picture. I think there are like multiple pictures of Naya, like a slideshow that goes up behind her. And it's just like, it's so, I cry.

[1:56:33] Claudia: Yeah, that makes me, yeah, it gives me chills. I love these girls so much.

[1:56:38] Andrew: Can I ask one question that's burning in my mind? And actually, it was one that was burning in my mind, like, a few years ago, when I was thinking about things to talk about today. You talked about what song would Artie and Britney's duet have been? I think on this podcast before we've talked about this, maybe. What was Blaine and Marley's duet in Sectional Season 4 supposed to be?

[1:57:05] Patrick: Yeah, we did.

[1:57:06] Andrew: Oh, sorry.

[1:57:07] Patrick: No, it's okay.

[1:57:09] Andrew: My idea was that it would be Skyfall.

[1:57:12] Patrick: I like that.

[1:57:14] Andrew: You hate that, Patrick?

[1:57:16] Patrick: That just doesn't ring a bell to me as to why it would be Skyfall.

[1:57:23] Andrew: What was the theme?

[1:57:25] Patrick: The theme for that competition was foreign.

[1:57:27] Andrew: Oh, it was like international, foreign.

[1:57:29] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:57:30] Andrew: But that's also weird, too. What did they do?

[1:57:34] Patrick: At Thanksgiving for Sectionals.

[1:57:36] Andrew: So they do Psy, Gangnam Style.

[1:57:39] Patrick: That fits the theme.

[1:57:41] Andrew: But what? Oh, I guess Warblers do a One Direction song.

[1:57:46] Patrick: They do Live While We're Young.

[1:57:49] Andrew: Would you consider that foreign?

[1:57:50] Patrick: That's cheap.

[1:57:50] Andrew: I suppose. But then they also do a Flo Rida song, Whistle.

[1:57:54] Patrick: Yeah, what?

[1:57:55] Andrew: And then the other, the third Jokey Glee Club does a mashup of Over the River and Through the Woods and We'll Be Coming Around the Mountain.

[1:58:05] Patrick: Yeah.

[1:58:06] Andrew: Which definitely isn't foreign.

[1:58:08] Patrick: I think this is political. I think they were making a political statement that they didn't gaffe and they wanted to do something that was America first.

[1:58:18] Andrew: Yeah, I could see that.

[1:58:19] Patrick: Yeah, well, that's possible. Then that actually makes sense. Because then when the Warblers get disqualified, then it doesn't go to the Amish group.

[1:58:27] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:58:28] Patrick: Because they specifically didn't follow the foreign rules.

[1:58:31] Andrew: Yeah, but that's weird because Sue said that the New Directions had been disqualified because they didn't finish their set. So you'd think that they would get last place.

[1:58:45] Patrick: But the plot armor was armoring.

[1:58:48] Andrew: Facts. Nobody thought to do a check-in on the Amish group, which is like, were they just like kind of happy with not winning?

[1:58:56] Patrick: Right.

[1:58:57] Andrew: I think we should wrap this up.

[1:59:00] Patrick: How long have we been recording?

[1:59:03] Andrew: At least two hours.

[1:59:04] Patrick: A little over two hours.

[1:59:05] Andrew: That feels like yesterday.

[1:59:07] Patrick: It was.

[1:59:09] Andrew: How come every time I record, I break out in a crazy sweat? Like, I'm so warm.

[1:59:13] Patrick: Oh, I'm sweating right now.

[1:59:15] Andrew: I don't know why.

[1:59:15] Patrick: Even on the episode.

[1:59:16] Andrew: Yeah, I've had that 7%.

[1:59:18] Patrick: So that's good.

[1:59:20] Andrew: Okay, so do we want to vote?

[1:59:22] Patrick: Oh, yeah. What was the song against?

[1:59:24] Andrew: Oh, Stare at Your Heart?

[1:59:25] Patrick: Starlight Express.

[1:59:27] Andrew: Starlight Express.

[1:59:28] Patrick: Starlight Express.

[1:59:30] Andrew: When you post it, you post that, like, they did only one song from this on the Hitbox Show. And I was like, which one?

[1:59:35] Patrick: They hardly did.

[1:59:38] Andrew: Well, I was like, which one? The titular song.

[1:59:40] Patrick: The titular one.

[1:59:41] Andrew: Yeah, namely. Yeah, it's sad. I don't really want to say goodbye to the one that is going to have to go. But it was an honorable competition.

[1:59:47] Patrick: Maybe it could be brought back.

[1:59:52] Andrew: I don't feel like a lot of the listeners are going to make the same commotion about Stare at Your Heart compared to us, Claudia.

[1:59:57] Claudia: I have an idea. What if we send home?

[2:00:00] Claudia: River Deep, Mountain High because we know that they're gonna vet it back.

[2:00:06] Patrick: Wait, that is really sneaky if you did that.

[2:00:10] Claudia: That would be really iconic.

[2:00:12] Patrick: I don't want that. People hate us. If it was something else, like maybe, but not this one.

[2:00:21] Claudia: And also not for Stereo Hearts, unfortunately.

[2:00:24] Andrew: So you're locking in a vote for River Deep?

[2:00:27] Claudia: My favorite bit of the episode was probably Claudia.

[2:00:34] Andrew: That's not what I'm asking. I'm not asking for favorite bit right now. I'm asking you to vote.

[2:00:46] Claudia: My favorite bit of the episode was Claudia being like the lesbian watching Two Beautiful Girls.

[2:00:59] Andrew: What was your favorite bit of the episode?

[2:01:02] Claudia: Popcorn Andrew.

[2:01:03] Andrew: My favorite bit of the episode, I did really like the, and I don't actually know if this will translate to an audio medium, but us referencing Mr. Schuster putting his wrist to his temple and going, during River Deep, Mountain High. I really do love that.

[2:01:22] Claudia: It's so scary.

[2:01:26] Andrew: I like, my favorite bit is the tension between how funny it is to say like, did that actually happen to you? And then the truth of the matter of the way that our trauma responses to memories that are really upsetting, make us not be able to remember them. That's my favorite bit.

[2:01:48] Claudia: Or there was a bear in my apartment.

[2:01:50] Andrew: Uh, anyway.

[2:01:55] Andrew: That's a vote for Stereo Hearts from Claudia. Patrick, what are you doing?

[2:02:00] Claudia: Wait, did you actually vote for Stereo Hearts?

[2:02:02] Patrick: No, I'm not voting for Stereo Hearts. Unless that's what you want to do.

[2:02:07] Claudia: I'll do anything.

[2:02:09] Andrew: Wait.

[2:02:10] Andrew: No, no, no, no. Sidebar. Oh my God. I didn't even talk about my jury duty experience, Andrew. Maybe I'll save that for another time.

[2:02:17] Andrew: Yeah. Does it relate?

[2:02:19] Claudia: What hour is it? Oh my God.

[2:02:20] Claudia: I didn't even tell you about my jury duty experience. Patrick, fucking vote.

[2:02:29] Patrick: I'm going to vote for River Deep, Mountain High.

[2:02:32] Patrick: My favorite bit of this episode is nobody wants to vote. That's my favorite bit.

[2:02:37] Claudia: Wait, let's bring back the sixth song.

[2:02:40] Claudia: Yes, can we do another one?

[2:02:42] Claudia: Can we just do another one? Do you have anything to kill, like time?

[2:02:47] Patrick: Anything to kill.

[2:02:47] Claudia: Do you have anything to kill? Time?

[2:02:50] Claudia: Is the cup just too heavy right now and you just want to do another two songs?

[2:02:54] Patrick: The cup is just too heavy right now.

[2:02:56] Patrick: He can't lift it. It's so delicate.

[2:03:00] Patrick: Okay, so I'm also voting for River Deep, Mountain High. We are not doing a third competition for this episode.

[2:03:06] Patrick: My iPad is going to die.

[2:03:08] Andrew: Claudia's iPad is going to die. Claudia, before your iPad dies, do you have anything that you want to talk about, promote, any social media at this very moment?

[2:03:16] Claudia: Oh man, Claudia gets crafty on Instagram. I'm starting to maybe kind of make movie reviews, but not really. They're pretty stupid, but it's really fun and I like to use that.

[2:03:26] Andrew: Wait, what's the letterboxd again?

[2:03:27] Claudia: My letterboxd is cdklink, my last name, K-L-I-N-C-K, which is also like my personal Instagram. Sometimes I let random people follow that.

[2:03:36] Patrick: Well, Andrew like tags like-

[2:03:38] Claudia: Yeah, you tag a different one every time.

[2:03:41] Andrew: Because I want both to kind of have their day in the sun.

[2:03:43] Claudia: Yeah, thank you. I'll sift through the requests, but everyone's welcome on Claudia Gets Crafty.

[2:03:48] Andrew: Claudia Gets Crafty. Wait, before, Patrick, I asked you for your social video. A thing that I've been doing lately is forgetting to do a recap of the songs.

[2:03:58] Patrick: Yeah.

[2:03:58] Andrew: Okay, so Lose My Breath. You officially lost your breath. You're dead.

[2:04:06] Patrick: Cough Syrup. I'm waiting for this Cough Syrup to come on down to round four.

[2:04:12] Claudia: Perfect.

[2:04:13] Andrew: Is that perfect?

[2:04:14] Patrick: No notes.

[2:04:16] Claudia: Ooh, Stereo Hearts.

[2:04:19] Patrick: The heartbeat, we're not finding a pulse.

[2:04:23] Claudia: Yeah, Stereo Hearts, I'm plugging.

[2:04:26] Patrick: Yeah, sure. I was just-

[2:04:32] Claudia: Dusty record on the shelf. That's what you're going to remain.

[2:04:34] Patrick: What did I say? That wasn't any of the lyrics.

[2:04:37] Claudia: I thought you were like, like cutting out like a stereo.

[2:04:40] Patrick: No, I was genuinely trying to remember what the lyrics were. And that's what came to me.

[2:04:47] Claudia: And River, you could be river deep in hell, or you could be, but you are mountain high in round four.

[2:04:54] Patrick: Yeah, sure.

[2:04:55] Claudia: Fine.

[2:04:56] Patrick: Yeah, sure. My love for you is river deep in mountain high. Something like that.

[2:05:02] Claudia: Right. Yeah.

[2:05:03] Patrick: Right. Yeah. Okay.

[2:05:04] Andrew: No, exactly.

[2:05:06] Patrick: Yeah.

[2:05:06] Patrick: What do you have to say about the same question that I just asked Claudia?

[2:05:11] Andrew: What do I have to say? Well, I always love-

[2:05:13] Patrick: What is your letterbox?

[2:05:16] Andrew: What is Claudia's letterbox?

[2:05:17] Patrick: What is Claudia's letterbox, Patrick?

[2:05:19] Patrick: We've been saying lots of river deep things. And I want to plug that Friends of the Pod made a river deep podcast about Riverdale.

[2:05:24] Claudia: A river deep podcast.

[2:05:28] Patrick: Oh, yeah. And I think it's, I think it's Abby and Emily, right? So it's really fun.

[2:05:34] Patrick: I will look at some of the clips. I love Riverdale. So can I plug them?

[2:05:38] Claudia: Oh, yes.

[2:05:39] Patrick: River deep podcast.

[2:05:42] Patrick: I watched like the first like three ish seasons of Riverdale and then kind of got out of it. But I am. I am a big Archie fan. I actually have my microphone on a stack of books. And one of them is an Archie book that I have. I'm a big Archie fan. Okay, but you can follow me on Instagram at Patty Salmon. Yeah, I love being on the podcast. Andrew, thanks for having me.

[2:06:08] Andrew: Of course. Thank you so much for being Gleeks. And thank you for being Friends.

[2:06:14] Patrick: I'm so glad that this was like a really easy episode. I wish that there was one hard competition, but I guess for our own sakes. It's good.

[2:06:21] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:06:21] Patrick: Yeah, it was nice. I had a really good time. I love doing it. I love doing it. And I will show everyone my drawing of Andrew and Patrick and it is nice. And it's gonna be it's gonna be in the carousel.

[2:06:36] Andrew: Yeah, okay. Until next week.

[2:06:45] Andrew: It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
