Mira Housey is here — and this Detroit talent is having quite a moment!

The singer, songwriter, producer and classically trained pianist joins Robert Bannon on The Roundtable to talk about her new music and the journey from growing up in Michigan to becoming one of pop music’s exciting emerging voices.

Housey recently released her six-song EP Mirror, featuring tracks including “Layup,” “prettyboy,” “BUTTERF-LIES,” “Sleeping In My Makeup,” “Yours,” and “When I’m in the 70s.” Even more impressive? Housey writes, records and produces her own music, bringing together her classical piano background with a fresh, cinematic pop sound.

The momentum continues to build. Housey has landed back-to-back Spotify New Music Friday placements, appeared on the covers of Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds Pop, and was celebrated with a Spotify-sponsored billboard in New York City. Her breakout “hold the applause” has racked up millions of streams, while her songwriting and production work includes collaborations with artists including Lauv, Laura Marano, Dasha, Matt Hansen, Alex Sampson and Faouzia.

She has also taken her music to television, performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and her work has found its way into film and television — including All American, Home & Away, and The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Now Mira sits down with Robert to talk about Mirror, making music on her own terms, the creative process behind the songs, her Detroit roots, and what comes next.
