Matthew Sklar is an American composer for musical theatre, television, and film. His works have appeared on Broadway, the West End, and theatres worldwide. Sklar has written primarily with lyricist Chad Beguelin, having written music for their Broadway shows The Prom, Elf the Musical, and The Wedding Singer. The Prom and The Wedding Singer earned him nominations for the Tony Award for Best Original Score.

Sklar was born on October 7, 1973, in Westfield, New Jersey. He began playing piano at a young age and started composing music shortly thereafter. After graduating from high school, Sklar attended New York University, where he studied music composition. After graduating from college, Sklar worked as a keyboardist, conductor, and/or arranger for a variety of Broadway shows and films.

In 2002, Sklar and Beguelin released their first Broadway show, The Wedding Singer. The show was a critical and commercial success, and Sklar's music was widely praised. He went on to write music for Elf the Musical (2010) and The Prom (2018). Both shows were nominated for Tony Awards, and The Prom won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical.

Sklar has also written music for a number of television shows and films, including Sesame Street, Wonder Pets!, and the NBC stop-motion animated TV special Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas.
