Tyler Hanes is an American actor, singer, dancer, and choreographer. He is best known for his work in Broadway musicals.
Hanes was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and raised in Marietta, Georgia. He began dancing at the age of seven and attended Pebblebrook High School, The Cobb County Center for the Performing Arts, and Carnegie Mellon School of Drama.
Hanes' Broadway debut came in the 2002 revival of Oklahoma!. He has since appeared in the original Broadway productions of Urban Cowboy, The Boy From Oz, The Frogs, and Sweet Charity. He also played Larry in the 2006 Broadway revival of A Chorus Line.
In 2017, Hanes won the Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show for his performance in the revival of Cats.
Hanes has also appeared in a number of national tours, including Fosse, Hairspray, and Wicked.
He is a core faculty member of The Broadway Dreams Foundation, Kanyok Arts Initiative, Kristin Chenoweth's Broadway Bootcamp, and is one of the founding faculty members of The Performing Arts Project.
