Alexi Melvin

Alexi is a Tony-nominated Broadway producer for “ILLINOISE,” writer, and actor who is making significant waves in the world of theatre and beyond. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, she is trying to shine a spotlight on bringing more queer stories to Broadway. Alexi's first show that she co-produced on Broadway was “Here Lies Love”, a groundbreaking show that spotlighted Filipino culture through innovative storytelling. After exploring various roles in acting, writing, and nonprofit work, Alexi was introduced to Clint Ramos, a lead producer on “Here Lies Love”. Post-pandemic, Alexi was eager to dive back into the arts. Clint saw potential in Alexi and offered a co-producing role, which launched her producing career. Alexi also contributed to the producing team of “The Notebook” on Broadway, learning extensively from lead producer Kurt Deutsch. Additionally, Alexi is an investor in “The Outsiders” on Broadway, working under the mentorship of LaChanze. Her second co-producing venture was “ILLINOISE”, a show that defies traditional categories by using dance and vocals to tell a queer story, while normalizing LGBTQ+ elements in theatre. This production earned Alexi a Tony nomination, marking a significant milestone in her career. Alexi’s diverse career extends beyond producing. She has notable voice work in “Star Wars: Rogue One” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” onscreen appearances in “Time Out of Mind” and “Quarter,” and a significant presence as an LGBTQ+ creator on TikTok with approximately 100K followers. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Alexi is deeply involved with type 1 diabetes organizations such as JDRF and Beyond Type 1, and is an advocate for various LGBTQIA causes. Her commitment to highlighting stories of “otherness” and supporting marginalized communities is a testament to her dedication to using her platform for positive change. Born in Redwood City, CA, and primarily raised in Scottsdale, AZ, Alexi grew up traveling frequently due to her father’s career as a Major League Baseball player and later as a coach and current manager of the San Francisco Giants. She was able to carve out her own path in the arts, studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute and later pursued a Liberal Arts degree with a focus on creative writing at The New School.
