Len Cariou is a Canadian actor and singer, best known for his Tony Award-winning performance as Sweeney Todd in the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He has also appeared in a variety of other Broadway shows, including Applause, A Little Night Music, and Blue Bloods.
Cariou was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, in 1939. He began his acting career in the early 1960s, and made his Broadway debut in 1968 in the musical The House of Atreus. He quickly became a leading man on Broadway, and appeared in a string of successful musicals in the 1970s and 1980s.
In addition to his work on stage, Cariou has also appeared in a number of films and television shows. His film credits include Flags of Our Fathers, About Schmidt, and Thirteen Days. His television credits include Murder, She Wrote, Blue Bloods, and The Good Wife.
